CHAPTER 2

FULL MOON BLOOM (1)

In a well furnished apartment Levi laid lazily on his bed silently staring at the ceiling. Groaning as he tossed and turned on his bed unable to sleep, he reached out for his phone on the table beside his bed. “It’s exactly an hour close to midnight and I still can’t sleep. Well today’s encounter with Brad was unexpected. Me being curious about Brad’s affairs is definitely not a good thing. Can’t go poking my nose into the affairs of other people, such things don’t end well. He might be allied with those drug gangs the better to not get involved in his affairs.” Levi thought to himself as he scrolled through his phone. Bored from using his phone, he gently placed it back on the table just to notice the urn he got from Brad sitting silently on the spot beside his phone. Levi sighed as he turned of the lamp plunging the room into quiet the embrace of darkness.

The happy chatter of pedestrians on the streets, chirping of birds and the grumpy looks on the faces of the young kids as they silently protest against going to school. All these signified the kick-start of a new day. Levi shuffled through the crowd while walking towards the cab parked beside the road.

Opening the rear door of the cab he took his seat, Next to Levi, cross legged sat a woman who looked no older than him with exquisite facials and delicate features, a beauty in a league of her own. And beside the old driver a chubby man who also seemed no older than him beaming whilst munching down on a box of muffins.

“Good morning everyone” Levi politely greeted as he closed the rear door. The beauty beside him gave a nod, Fatty also responded but his response was muffled due to the mouth being stuffed with muffles. “Good morning sir” the old driver politely responded. “Alberk city Zone C” Levi calmly said after the old man responded. VROOM sounded as old man drove taxi blending with over vehicles as he hit the highway.

The journey was uneventful as everyone valued their privacy, and In less than an hour Levi tipped the old cab driver as he alighted in front of his work place. “Have a good day sir” the old cab driver with a friendly smile on his face told Levi. Not wanting to be rude Levi gave a nod walking towards the building. “what a peculiar gentleman” the old cab driver mumbled as he drove away.

Sitting in his cubicle Levi went about his usual business. All around him one could see workers in groups of three, more or less having their own conversations. Slight giggles sounded every so often the female works who formed their social circle. The Office became lively that was until the sound of high hills echoed in a silent but oppressive rhythm catching the attention of everyone.

The owner of those heels, a tall beautiful woman in her early 30’s in a pure suit and pants with a cold expression stood in front of the office exuding the aura of a boss, standing behind was a man with a strong build dressed professionally in black suit. “Behind me is a new employee Mr. Thomas he will be replacing Brad. Starting from now he is your new colleague help him out”. The cold boss beauty Elena after delivering her message walked back to her office.

Whispers sounded as most people who knew Brad were shocked to know he won’t be working with them any more. Some people went on to make ridiculous assumptions. “What just happened did Brad take leave or what” someone asked “you fucking retard who gets replaced when taking a leave” a bald headed man responded. “Brad was such a nice fella why did he get laid of so soon” A brunette pouted as she talked about Brad. Levi quietly observed, taking in all what was happening around him whilst being lost in his own world of thoughts.

Hours tick by like grains of sand, The full moon hang in the sky illuminating the city below. Closing from work Levi decided to pass by Brads place even though he reminded himself not to get involved with whatever is going on. Levi stood opposite Brad’s door, he knocked but no one answered. He repeated this action for a while until a neighbour next door peeked through his door, “mister the owner of this apartment moved out last night” with an oh Levi said thank you and left.
