Materializing was Kaya’s favorite part of the job so far. All she had to do was to will where she needed to be and Place teleported her right there. Now she stood on the top of a steep hill, watching the ravaging minotaur haul at a group of soldiers who stood between it and the town gates. It was a formidable creature with thick brown fur, a muscular back, and two large horns jutting out from its head. Its face was the scary part, with rugged marks of countless battles, eyes that glistened deep red and a mouth that drooled down spit like a rabid dog.
It brought it’s weapon to the head of the nearest soldier, sending the weapon crashing onto the man’s head. Blood splattered out, and Kaya looked away. She had a stomach for blood, or so she thought, after seeing her brother play video games. But it wasn’t so pretty when it happened in real life.
The creature threw the man’s body easier than throwing a rag doll, then marched on.
“Where are they?” Kaya almost bit her lip. “They should be here-”
As if on cue the gates at the top of the hill opened with a slight groan, showing signs of not being opened in years. Out of the gates shadows appeared. At first it was the hero Karon, if you could call him a hero. He wore a clumsy iron armor now, and rode on top of a very majestic white horse. He was angled too much to the left, with the reins almost wrapped around his arms. From the distance it almost seemed as if he would fall.
What gave Kaya even a little bit of confidence was the army that marched behind him. There were at least ten on a horse and another twenty marched on foot, spears and swords in hand.
“Huh,” Place chuckled behind her ear. “Foolish mortals do have some organizational power.”
Kaya turned to looked at him, but he was invincible. “Do you hate humans?”
“Not at all my lady, why would I hate those stupid scum? It’s a waste of my thoughts. I’d rather spend that time trying to eat thin air.”
The minotaur saw the approaching figures from the distance. He readied his axe, threw the last two remaining resistance of soldiers to either side then gave a roar.
“Soldiers!” Karon yelled, though it sounded like a high pitched voice of an opera singer. “For glory! For the empire! For the emperor!”
It was such a beautiful sight, just like what Kaya had read in those countless fantasy books at her library. The soldiers repeated Karon’s words after him, and four of the archers on horses readied their bows and fired. The spearmen pushed their spears front, and the soldiers behind them unsheathed their swords.
“That’s it!” Kaylee spread her hands. She doubted the people could see her, but she was happy to see the chaos resolve. “Kill it! Destroy it!”
Her words seemed to have effect, but the exact opposite. The minotaur swatted off the arrows, though one stuck into his forearm. Then it gave a little high jump, lifted the axe above its head and then brought it down with all his might. The ground cracked, gave a little rumble, and the white stallion riding up front reared its legs and stopped, sending the hero crashing down to the ground right on his arse.
The effect wasn’t good on others either. The spearmen stumbled to the ground, some others pinned it on the horsemen at the front. More horses reared, a female soldier at the back slipped and fell face first to the brown mud, another two soldier rammed themselves to the back of a horse and got kicked by its hind legs.

Just one attack, and the entire squad was down to one man on a horse and two soldiers holding swords.
“Such a talented army!” Place gasped. “If spirits could cry I would be shedding tears.”
“Shut up!” Kaya snapped and focused on Karon. He was rubbing his hands while getting up, and the minotaur with a rough grunt started to charge at him.
“Place, what are my options?”
“You could go interview another hero and send them to this world my lady-”
“No you idiot! I need a way to stop that fucking thing!”

Kaya rubbed her head. The minotaur brought its axe down on the man’s face, and he rolled to his right barely missing the weapon in an inch.
“You cannot directly interact with the world’s events my lady,” Place said. “If so then there is no need for heroes in the first place. The only means of communicating with the world’s events is through your vassal - alas, the hero.”
The minotaur turned at the man, and he turned and scuttled back, running far away from him.
Place cleared his throat. “The hero whose only strength lies in bed it seems…”
Seeing their commander run didn’t have a positive effect on the army. Soon the army who was chanting the emperor’s name was on their feet, turning back and running for their lives. The minotaur, as if having more intelligence than the army’s commander, only fixed its eyes upon the running commander.
Of course, kill the commander, kill the army.
“Place, I need ideas.”
“For what my lady?”
“You fu-” Kaya stopped herself, then quickly changed the words. “-nny little ghost! You know what I need ideas for! Tell me a way to save him!”
There was a very dramatic sigh.
“I already gave you a suggestion my lady. Remember, you can communicate with your vassal. You are free to provide him guidance, knowledge or wisdom.”
“That’s such a nice idea, now, when was the last time I fought a minotaur?”
“Is that sarcasm my lady?”
For a guy who couldn’t fight Karon had strong legs. The minotaur picked a formidable sized rock and threw it at him, and the man dodged it by running into an alleyway.
Think…
Kaya tried to think. But this wasn’t your regular class rep’s job.
“If I may my lady,” Place said again. “You can do anything to him… you can bestow something onto him.”
That clicked to her. She remembered the spiders at the bedroom.
“Right, right,” her eyes brightened. She concentrated on the running man. At first she thought it would be hard, but when she opened her thoughts she felt his spirit tugging at her, almost like a magnet. She focused on his soul, and tried to think of what she could bestow.
Strength? But she was sure strength would go to waste without practice.
Then a good weapon? No, that would be worthless without practice too.
Magic…
“There is something I should mention-” Place intruded her thoughts.
“Not now Place,” Kaya pushed him away then fed the exact thoughts to the soul tugging at her.
Give him magic…more and more magic…enough to rip that thing to shreds.
Kaya felt something move through her, almost like an intangible spirit. Karon froze, then stumbled and fell to the ground.
“Ah very nice,” Place added. “Killing him is also a good choice. We can leave this world to crash and burn!”

“Wait, what-”
“Ah, I tried to warn you my lady,” Place said, though Kaya felt he was trying hard not to use a more rougher word. “There’s a limit why people in this world only deal with light magic. Too much magic can kill the human body, and in worser cases, turn them into something…very evil.”
Kaya turned to look at the writhing corpse of Karon. He wiggled on the floor the lifted himself up, not by his arms, but by simply floating a little high, and then turning a 90 degrees until he was erect on the ground. His eyes were blazing blue, and even in the distance Kaya could see the red and blue veins bulging on his neck.
“Congratulations my lady,” Place’s voice had the sarcasm Kaya held a moment ago. “You created this world’s first magical undead.”
