It was summer vacation for all the teachers, students, and others who took a week or two, maybe three if their bosses would let them. Many people were at the beaches, sunbathing or swimming in the ocean or maybe for the children, playing in the sand building sand castles. Some people didn't like the ocean with all the sand and salty air so they would go cool off in a pool. Others decided to travel out of town for a week or two, going abroad to see many different ruins and sites. Some people went to museums. Art museums, history museums... All in all, everyone was busy having fun with friends or family when summer came. Everyone except for a few select people who were introverts, which brings us to this young 27-year-old man who works as a middle school teacher, Akira. Don't ask how some introverted person became a teacher. He chose to be a teacher because of the vacation time and that's that.
Akira was a gigantic otaku fan. He loved anime, manga, and novels. He had a ton of posters for anime up on his bedroom wall. His whole room, including his bed sheets. A lot of his clothes had some sort of anime cover on them. If someone wanted a suggestion as to which anime, manga, or novel they should check out next, he would be able to point out the perfect one for you. Action-packed anime, a slice-of-life story, comedy, romance, horror, you name it, he could tell you all about them.
Anyways, onto the story.
It was just another typical day. Akira had just finished reading the latest chapter of Infinite Mana in the Apocalypse. He asked himself for the ten millionth time it felt, 'Wouldn't it be so cool if the real world could get invaded by monsters and humans could awaken superpowers and crush them all? I wish that would happen,' he sighs and gets up to heat some ramen in the microwave.
He starts humming a little tune while he scrolls through the list of novels he had on his favorite list. As he was scrolling down, he got a notification. One of the stories has been updated. Finally! After 6 months of hiatus, it was back! Reincarnated as a Wolf with Cheats! He immediately clicked the latest chapter and started reading it. He finished the chapter and left a comment in the comment section, thanking the author for updating the story.
After that, he went to get his ramen that had finished cooking. He opened the microwave and grabbed the noodles with one hand while scrolling down for more stories to read. He saw that one of his favorite manga was back from another long hiatus, Became King After Being Bitten. 'Ooh! I almost forgot about that manga,' He said to himself. 'It hadn't been updated in so long, I thought the translators decided to drop the story altogether. So happy it's back.' Akira laughs joyfully with a silly grin on his face. "Today is the perfect day!" he says out loud, and accidentally spills his soup all over his phone.
"#!@!" he says to himself. "Now look what you did Akira!" he hurriedly tries to save his phone by grabbing a towel nearby to soak up the soup, but then his phone starts giving off sparks as he dries his phone, which he didn't notice, and Boom! He gets electrocuted by his phone and his surroundings slowly fade away and all his senses go numb. He couldn't hear the heavy sound of running footsteps on the floor above him. He couldn't feel any pain, but he also couldn't feel the faint breeze from the open window by the kitchen sink. He couldn't feel anything, nor could he move. The only thing he could still see was his phone screen, only now it was completely white.
'What's going on right now?!?' he starts panicking a little bit. 'I can't move!' He looks at his phone again and tries to grab it, but still can't move a muscle when some words appear on the screen in plain big bold black letters.

Akira was shocked. No way he was seeing correctly! This scene here felt awfully familiar, almost like he was going to be reincarnated! He didn't know what to think. Obviously, he wanted to live, but he wasn't sure if this was some strange lucid dream. He didn't believe that he was actually dead. No. He refused to believe that he had died due to being electrocuted by his phone. Why couldn't he go out like all the other protagonists? being hit by Truck Kun after saving someone and meeting God and getting some overpowered cheats of some sort?
The screen started blinking. [You Have 10 Seconds to Choose] then the screen starts counting down [10... 9.... 8...]
The message on the screen brought him out of his daze. He wondered how could he even click the [Yes] button if he couldn't move. Just as he was thinking about his problem, His phone went *DING* and the screen changed once again.
[You Have Chosen to Reincarnate. Congratulations!]

Pain struck his head. Unbelievable pain, worse than anything he had ever experienced. It felt like a thousand daggers were stabbing his head over and over and over. A minute later, everything then turned black and his consciousness faded away.

Akira opened his eyes and was immediately blinded by the glaring sun. He blinked rapidly and looked around as his eyes slowly adjusted to the light. All around him he saw trees. Big tall trees. Stubby fat trees. All lit up by the sun. He heard the sounds of nature all around him. He studied the surroundings and noticed that he was in what seemed to be a den in some bushes. As he was looking around, he shivered as he suddenly felt something wet go over his back. Slowly he turned his head and saw a giant white horned wolf staring back at him. He shot up into the air a few inches from shock and rolled over, stopping when he bumped into the cave wall. There was a puddle of water by his feet and he saw a tinny wolf reflection staring back at him. He then saw a screen pop up in front of his eyes. It looked just like a system from those RPG games that told your stats and skills.

'What's this?!?' He wondered in his head. He took a look at the description of the one skill he had.
Identify: A skill that all races have to identify things. Only able to identify the target in question. As the level gap decreases between you and your target, more details will be shown. He looks at the white wolf in front of him, then looks back at the screen in front of him then back at the white wolf again. Sure enough, he could see the race and level of the wolf in front of him.

The wolf in front of him didn't attack him. He stayed in his crouching position. He was stupefied. He slowly managed to process what just happened. The wolf in front of him was probably his mother he guessed since she didn't attack him, and also judging by how close and protective the way she looked at him, that was really the only possibility. He looked around some more and saw three other wolf pups near him. All were bigger than him. Turns out he was the runt of the litter. Hopefully, he wouldn't get picked on.
Another wolf came into the den. This wolf had two horns on its head. Akira guessed that this wolf must be the father since he was bigger. The wolf came up to the mother and dropped a rabbit on the ground. Well, at least Akira hoped it was a rabbit. It was a rather large rabbit, two feet and on top of that it had long sharp-looking claws and of course a horn on its head, right between the ears. Akira used his skill on the rest of the folks in the den.

As he looked at his siblings' stats, he realized that he could see all their stats, but no skills. He also noticed that his stats were on the lower side of his siblings. After that, he took a look at the dead rabbit creature that his father brought.

Akira blinked in surprise. The status page looked different for dead creatures, and the creature was a horned rabbit. One of those basic beginner monsters from RPG novels and VR games. 'Well dang... That was a little bit disappointing. I thought that the horned rabbit would have a cooler name than just 'Horned rabbit' in this world.'
One of the wolves came up to him and dropped a piece of the dead rabbit at his feet, startling him. He looked at the rabbit's leg and then back at his mother. 'Was he supposed to eat this?' Akira couldn't stand looking at the bleeding rabbit leg in front of him and gagged. Then to his surprise, the wolf spoke:
"Eat it!" Akira's mouth fell open in response. He then looked around at his siblings who were gobbling up different parts of the rabbits. He then turned reluctantly to his rabbit leg and tentatively poked it was his paw and took a small bite. It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. He then took another bite, then another and another until the rabbit leg was all eaten up. Guess he was more hungry than he thought as well. He then gave a big yawn and curled up next to his siblings and fell asleep.
