It was a rainy day, the pack was hunting in the woods. A group of hunters enters the forest and the wolf pack attacks the hunters because they were taking away the prey that the pack needed to survive in their territory.
The hunters didn't know this and were all left wondering why the wolves were attacking them. The wolves want to show the hunters that they can't just intrude on their land and take their prey without any consequences, and it's fine to take a few prey but not all of it.
Axel, the leader of the pack, could speak to humans, told the hunters in broken human language, to leave the forest and stop hunting their prey.
The hunters stared at Axel with mild surprise and then looked at each other and got ready to fight the talking wolf in front of them. Axel howled and the rest of the wolf pack jumped out from the bushes around and a fight between the adult wolves and the hunters began.
Akira and his littermates hide in the bushes, watching the rest of the adult pack members fight with the humans.
The bigger brother starts complaining about staying in the bushes, “Why do we have to stay here? Why can’t we join them? We are going to be heading off on our own soon. Why can’t we get actual battle practice? We always get stuck hunting little weak prey. I want to hunt the bigger beasts and humans like they do!”
Akira whispers to him angrily to shut up before they get caught. “Just shut up brother. You know they told us to stay here for a reason. Don't cause any trouble or else something bad might happen. We don't want to get caught right now. We haven't learned how to fight humans yet. We would most likely get in their way, so just sit tight and shut up.”
Akira then turns back to watch the fight, quietly observing how everyone fought.
This bigger brother of his was smart at least. He didn't want to admit that Akira was right, but he could see his point and reluctantly quieted down and observed the scene before him with Akira.
After a while, the brother gets impatient and doesn't want to sit and do nothing anymore so he taunts Akira, trying to bait him into joining the fight.
“Hey, Runt!” the bigger brother calls out to Akira, “why are we just sitting here still? We can see how they fight the humans. Why don't we go and join them now?”
Akira wanted to disagree but his brother didn't let him speak.
“Are you a coward? A scaredy cat!”
His brother tries to get a reaction, but Akira ignores him and says, “Shut up and just be patient and we can join the fight when it's the right time to. After we grow up more. If we joined now, we'd just be a burden to the rest of our pack.”
The brother sputters and tries to argue back but can't find a good retort as he realizes that Akira is still right. Even after watching the pack fight, he wasn't confident that he could fight and not get in the way.
Stolen story; please report.
The hunters escape from the pack who lets them off after beating them up really badly. The forest is peaceful again, no humans are seen coming into the forest and hunting down the wolves' prey.
One month later, Akira and his siblings are now done with the training and all that stuff during the month of peace. Currently, Akira and his siblings are patrolling their territory, spotting a group of humans that have entered the forest again. The brother wants to fight them, but Akira and the other siblings stop him from rashly leaping forward and they go back to camp to tell the rest of the pack.
As they headed back, one of the humans in that group heard the young wolves in the bushes and followed them as they headed back to camp. Akira and the others didn't realize this as they didn't think they were noticed by the humans.
The human who trailed Akira and his sibling then went back and told his companions.
“Hey guys! I found the wolf camp. We can go back now since we accomplished our mission. Let's go back to the guild and get our mission rewards. We should leave before the pack gets here. We were just hired to scout the camp anyway. Let the other people take care of the pack. It's a big one.”
The rest of this man’s companions agree and they leave. After they alerted the guild about where the wolf camp is, they gather a lot of strong A-B+ ranked adventurers to go into the forest for their attack on the wolf camp the next day. They gathered a lot of high ranked adventurers because this group of wolves hung out in big groups and were more dangerous with their magic abilities.
Akira and his siblings told the rest of the pack about the humans they saw in the forest. Some of them dismissed it as just some humans accidentally straying into the forest. Other members were more cautious and wondered what if they were just there by accident. Murmur broke out among the wolves, debating about what they should do.
Axel shouted out, “Everyone! Calm down! I think that we should all just stop panicking. Rosey will go and take some wolves out to where the humans were spotted and see what they're doing. If they leave without causing any trouble, then everything is fine.”
Everyone calmed down after this and Rosey headed out with some wolves and came back a little while later with good news.
“The humans were gone by the time we arrived. We followed their scent and they just went back to their territory. There wasn't anything fishy around them, so they were probably a group of people that just wandered in by accident.”
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and went back to doing what they did.
The next day, everything was normal for the wolf pack. They went out and hunted, hung out and bathed in the sun at sunhigh, patrolled their territory and then went back to rest in their camp in the afternoon.
The adventurers went into the forest and found the wolf camp with the guild of that human and then surrounded the unsuspecting, peaceful wolf camp and attacked.
Everyone is startled and unprepared. Axel and Rosey quickly got everyone up and ready to fight and they start to attack the invading humans.
Akira and his siblings start to fight the humans too, but Akira is still hesitant because he was once a human. One human comes to attack Akira who stands frozen with indecision, when his brother attacks the human and growls at Akira.
“What are you doing, little runt? Why are you just standing there? You should help the pack out and attack the humans, and protect our camp!”
Akira knows this but still feels conflicted. He gets up and helps his pack with the enemy forces.
Wolves are getting overpowered by humans after being taken by surprise and Axel gives the order for the pack to escape and meet up by the training grounds where the wolf pups learn to fight and use magic.
Everyone scrambles out of the camp and runs away from the humans. Akira's sibling also runs away. Akira's brother gets injured and can't run as fast. Akira helps his brother, but they get captured by humans after getting knocked unconscious.
