Verlin flew back to the mansion. He didn't quite understand why these enhanced humans were so much stronger than Chloe and Rachel, but from what he saw from their DNA, their bodies seemed to be more saturated compared to Chloe or Rachel. Which means Chloe and Rachel have yet to reach maturity, and when they reach adulthood, their bodies will undergo a big change, but this is only speculation.
When Verlin got 2 kilometers away from the house, he could hear Rachel talking to someone in the house. Verlin arrived at the house and saw Rachel talking to a woman with short black and magenta coloured eyes. She was 2 inches taller than Rachel, but she looked about the same age as Rachel. The odd thing that Verlin noticed was that Rachel was very respectful towards her. Verlin had known Rachel for only 2 weeks, but he knew that she looked down upon most people.
When the 2 of them noticed he had arrived, Rachel walked up to introduce the both of them,
" Verlin, this is Commander Veronica. Commander Veronica, this is Verlin."
Veronica went up to shake Verlins hand and said, "When they told us there was an alien, I expected some sort of walking abomination. It turns out you are much more pleasing to the eye, more so than other humans."
Verlin shook her hand and said, " Uhm, thanks, it's also a pleasure meeting you, Commander."
"You can just call me Veronica."
Rachel continued after seeing both of them greet each other and said, " She is my kickboxing trainer and also one of the 10 enhanced humans in the army I told you about. She will also be staying here for a certain period of time."
Verlin replied , "Alright."
Verlin didn't really mind. He was barely in the house. Most of the time, he was outside, and he slept in space. He just comes back because it's convenient. Verlin took a look at Veronica with his microscopic vision, and he could see that her body density was 25 times of a human, slightly more than the people who had attacked him.
Verlin continued, " I ran into some enhanced humans a couple of minutes ago, I was wondering if you knew them."
Veronica and Rachel immediately seemed interested, and Veronica asked, " What abilities did they have?"
"One of them had super speed. One could control fire and also transform into fire, another could fo the same with wind. And the last one could teleport."
Veronica was shocked and said, " You fought off 4 enhanced humans by yourself? And you look untouched. That's rather impressive."
Verlin shook his head and said, " It's not actually that impressive. With my strength, Its actually quite embarrassing that they got away. Also, they tried to inject me with this thing."
"Show off," Rachel muttered under her breath.
Verlin pulled out the syringe and handed it over to Veronica. Veronica grabbed it and looked at the syringe and said, " The material is used specifically for matured enhanced humans. I could guess a single drop of this level of anesthatia could knock out a human for an entire week. This is some good stuff."
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Veronica continued and said, " We don't know any enhanced humans with those abilities, but seeing that they have these level of goods, then they must have done this at least a couple of time for them to know it works. You should keep an eye out for them."
Veronica looked at Rachel and said, " You should also be on edge. If one of them can teleport like Verlin said, and they were enhanced humans that had reached adulthood, you wouldn't stand a chance."
Verlin listened to this and nodded his head. It seemed his hypothesis was spot on. When enhanced humans reached adulthood at the age of 24, they got an all-around boost in their abilities.
Veronica continued and said, " Tomorrow is a big day, We should go get some rest."
Veronica walked away and went to her room. Varlun looked at Rachel and, " What's happening tomorrow?"
" The military has an announcement to make tomorrow, and Veronica is going to be there during that announcement."
Rachel also left and went to her room, Verlin shrugged and went up to his room as well. The past two weeks haven't been completely wasted. He had studied most of the advanced subjects on the planet, including their technological advancement. He had simulated trying to make an unmoving floating base in the vaccum of space above the planet, but soon realized he had a problem, he lacked an actual power source. If he wanted his base to be stationary in space, he needed some sort of energy to counterract the gravity of the planet, but all the energy sources of the planet would be inefficient or just lacked power to do so.
Verlin opened the window and flew up into space to fall asleep. He could try find those enhanced humans, but with that woman that can teleport even when in contact with a physical object, he felt it would be a waste of time, especially if he wanted to capture them.
Soon, the next day arrived, and Verlin was back at his room, but Veronica had already left, and Rachel was the only one left in the house. Rachel came up to him, knocked on the door, and said,
" Do you have any plans for today? if you don't, can we go to the headquarters?"
Verlin had made some plans with Chloe, but he could extend it by a couple of hours. It wasn't like they were going to find anything.
Verlin said, " What exactly are we going to do there? Is it anything important."
Rachel replied, " It has something to do with the announcement the army is making today."
" Alright then. "
Verlin didn't know what the announcement was about, but it seemed it had some connection with him. Rachel brought Verlin to her car as they drove to the headquarters. When they arrived, Rachel brought and took him to a room. As they entered, Verlin could see General Smith in an office like room, but Rachel didn't enter in with him. She closed the door behind him and left.
General Felix looked at Verlin and said,
" Good morning Verlin, please do take a seat. "
Verlin sat down at a chair opposite him and said, " So, what exactly do you want to tell me."
" Verlin, although you haven't been on the planet for a while, I have been told you have read up on some of the advanced fields of the West Federation."
" Indeed, I have, but what does that have to do with any of this."
" It's quite simple, The history of the West Federation is not a pleasant one. At a point in time, the West Federation was a divided nation. Each with its own rules and policies. The rulers of these nations came to a conclusion. For humanity as a whole to advance and reach to the stars and beyond, there must be unity. This was a simple concept, but it was very difficult to fulfill. Since every nation had its own agenda, they came to the conclusion that the best way to unify was through war."
Verlin was getting an idea of what General Smoth was going to say, but continued and said,
" Unity through War is foolish. There are people who will die in the war, and those people also have relatives. The hatred from those dead relatives would be taken out on the nation related to the death of their loved ones. Unity through war would will result in a United Nation but a divide with its people."
General Smith nodded his head and said, " During the war, many lives were lost, people suffered, and for a period of time after the war their was social and political divide, but given time even a planet can heal. Given a few generations, all the wounds would be patched up, and we will end with a stronger and unified country. War, in a sense, is what unified and gave birth to the West Federation. The same could be said with the North, South, and East Federation."
After taking a breath, General Smith continued, "Now, each country has decided to have one final war, the last one in the history a humankind. This may be called a war now, but the future generations would call it the Great Unity."
Verlin had a frown on his face. He could already tell what General Smith was trying to get at. He said, " So what does this have to do with me?"
General Smith looked Verlin dead in the eye and said, " Your landing incident. We are gonna use it as a way to light up a fire in the hearts of the citizens of the West Federation, along with the airplane incident."
"So, you are going to use these incidents as propaganda."
"Verlin, this war is inevitable. All this is going to do is give the soldiers a little push to get them passionate. And all I am really asking of you is to not get involved."
