Rebirth at Hogwarts
011 magic wand

011 magic wand

Harry unwrapped the red cloth cord and unfolded the parchment, only to see it read:

Dear Harry:

See the words as they are. You must have got a surprise tonight, right?

The first time I saw you at school, I recognised you as Harry Potter, the big name in the wizarding world. All the kids in the wizarding world grew up hearing your name, and I was no exception.

However, at the request of the Ministry of Magic and the Headmaster of Hogwarts, please forgive me for not being able to inform you in advance of my identity as being from a wizarding family, and I hope that our friendship will not suffer because of my well-intentioned concealment.

I have also received a letter of admission to Hogwarts.

We need to go to Diagon Alley to purchase the items requested on the list, and I will be going to Diagon Alley tomorrow, so if you need to come with us, you can ask my owl Edward to bring back a letter to me. If you are not available tomorrow, please let me know when you are going to Diagon Alley and I will be there on that day as well.

Yours faithfully, Luke

At this moment Harry had mixed feelings, on the one hand he was pleasantly surprised that he could continue to study at the same school as Luke, on the other hand he was sad that his best friend, who he regarded as a brother and sister, was hiding such a big secret from him, but Harry had already learnt more or less some common sense from Hagrid, and besides, as Luke had said, it was possible to feel whether or not people were genuinely interacting with each other, and Harry was even more sensitive to that.

Harry asked Hagrid to borrow a pen and wrote directly on the back of the parchment:

Dear Luke:

I am very happy to continue attending a school with you, and our friendship does not change as a result.

Hagrid (Hogwarts' Keymaster) will be sending me to Diagon Alley tomorrow to purchase items, so we'll meet tomorrow to talk more about it.

Yours sincerely, Harry

After writing the letter Harry found that Hagrid had already tended to the owl very dry and was feeding it sausage meat mixed with extra and added corn kernels.

"I am very good at taking care of animals, I keep many of the animals at Hogwarts and Dumbledore he trusts me very much." Spotting Harry looking over, Hagrid, though pretending to be calm, could not stop the look of pride in his expression betraying him.

Harry walked over and held out the parchment, and Edward the owl immediately held out his left leg, signalling for Harry to tie the letter. Hagrid pushed open the window, it had calmed down and there were even a few stars looming in the sky. Edward perked up his wings and took Harry's joy with him as he spread his wings and flew off into the night.

The next day, Morgan le Fay woke up deliberately early to make breakfast and urge his family to get up.

"Come on come on Len, Daisy, there's so much shopping to be done today." For shopping, like the female Muggles, witches were always particularly active, something the wizarding and Muggle worlds shared in that respect.

After breakfast at her mother's urging, and once again arriving at the Diagon Alley Ancient Spirit Court via the pre-approved door key, and after picking up her gold coins, Mrs Harris set out the tasks for several of the older children, "Len, you're going to go shopping for all the herbs; Daisy and your father are going to go shopping for the books and the Crucible; Luke, I'll take you to buy your wands first, and then we'll all meet up at Madame Moguin's robes shop, Madame Moguin's is the best! Mrs Morkin's is the best! School uniforms are all going to be better decent ones!"

Running straight to Ollivander's, Luke had reason to suspect that Mrs Harris was trying to save time so that she could spend a little more time picking through Mrs Morkin's.

Garrick Ollivander's wand shop was small and shabby, with a peeling gold sign over the door that read, Ollivander's, making fine wands since three hundred and eighty-two BC. In the dusty window, a wand lay alone on a faded purple upholstery.

As they entered the shop, a tinkling bell came from somewhere in the back of the shop. The shop was small, with nothing but a bench. Thousands of long narrow boxes were stacked almost to the top of the ceiling, all of which were supposed to be wands.

Since it was still early in the morning, and although it was still in the middle of the school season but there were obviously no other customers inside, the shop was very quiet and Luke couldn't help but ease his breathing.

"Good morning, you are the first customers to arrive at the shop today, I am Garrick Ollivander." A soft voice said. An old man suddenly slid out from behind one of the counters in front of Luke and surveyed him with his large light coloured eyes, he seemed very pleased.

Seeming to see Luke's disbelief, "The vast majority of the time people tend to go to other shops first and come to pick out their wands last, it's so strange, I can't understand them, for wizards, wands are the most important companions of all!" Ollivander complained.

"Rich dark purple-brown walnut, ten and a quarter inches long, an exceptionally beautiful wand, and a good one for casting spells. Do I remember correctly, Mrs Harris, it's been a long time!" Ollivander asked, suddenly turning to Mrs Harris.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

"Oh, of course, your memory is as excellent as ever." Although she had answered the same question three times already, Mrs Harris was willing to play along with Ollivander to show her respect for the master wand maker.

"Remember, wax it often!" Ollivander's gaze suddenly sharpened.

"Of course, of course, I love it very much. This is my youngest son, Luke, and I brought him here today to pick out a wand." Mrs Harris nudged Luke forward, hastily diverting Ollivander's attention.

"Oh yes, Mr Harris, let me see." He pulled a long tape measure with a silver scale printed on it from his coat pocket. "Which arm do you use to make the wand? "

"I'm used to using my right hand. " Luke said, "With all due respect, Mr Ollivander, does your surname mean that your ancestor in this family used an olive wood wand? Ollivander sounds a bit like oilve (olive tree) wand."

"Ah, keen little wizard, you may be sorted into our Ravenclaw, but keep your arms up. Good." The tape measure was thankfully operated automatically without having to be stroked by Ollivander, an older man of a certain age.

The ruler went from shoulders to fingertips first, after that, from wrists to elbows, shoulders to the floor, knees to armpits, and finally the head circumference. Although Luke wasn't sure that measuring himself in the midst of his rapid physical growth spurt in this way would be of any great use in his choice of wand, he was still very co-operative, perhaps it would narrow down Ollivander's recommendations a little? Luke was prepared for a protracted battle, he was under the impression that normally at times like this, as the main character would be particularly picky in his wand selection...

Ollivander was weaving between the shelves, busy selecting some long boxes to move down, the tape measure slipping to the floor and curling into a ball. "So, Luke, try this one. Made of beech wood and snake nerves. Nine inches long. A beechwood wand will be able to display its subtle, artistic skill, and that's how it's been able to create a glowing reputation that few other woods can match, although beechwood wands will show themselves to be very powerless against the narrow-minded and unforgiving. Try waving it."

Luke took it in his hand and waved it, an explosion rang out, and looking at the shattered window, Luke thought to himself, "Luckily it doesn't look like I'm a narrow-minded, intolerant person."

Ollivander nodded in satisfaction, "Good luck with this one, nine gold galleons..."

"Erm...wait! Mr Ollivander...can I try again? I don't feel like it's entirely smooth..." Luke was stunned to realise that he'd actually been judged suitable by the other man on the first one, he wasn't happy that picking out a wand had ended so simply, so he wanted to make it a little more ceremonial, otherwise Luke felt a little sorry for himself ....

"Hm? For what? Well...since you insist...but it's fine, you want to learn more about wands? Then try this one again, apple wood with unicorn hair, there aren't many wands made of apple wood, they are powerful and especially suitable for those with high ideals and pursuits, apple wood is not suitable for casting black magic. It is said that holders of applewood wands are deeply loved and live long lives, and I have found that guests who find it suitable for applewood are always charismatic." Ollivander, while not understanding what Luke had in mind, was obviously obviously quite a bit more detailed in giving Luke a test wand than he had given to the other young wizards, and after another pause to hand Luke his wand, he began to describe the core, "Unicorn Hair is the most attuned to casting spells and he is the least susceptible to the fluctuations and hindrances of other magics. Wands with unicorn hairs as cores are least suited to casting black magic. They are the most loyal of all wands, and usually maintain a strong bond with their first owner, whether he or she is a skilful wizard or not. Though one small drawback to wands made of unicorn hair is that they can't be used to make very powerful wands, so I used the powerful apple wood to compensate, plus they can develop a severe melancholia when used incorrectly, which then means that the unicorn hairs will 'die' faster to the point of needing to replace the core. "

Luke's fingers had just touched the wand when Ollivander snatched it back, "No, don't you touch it, not this one." Then gave Luke a somewhat strange look.

Luke was a little uncomfortable by the look and thought to himself "Is this guy trying to imply that I will become a dark wizard?" .

Ollivander let Luke try one after another, this time the choice of wicks were all obviously in favour of black magic or wands that could cast powerful spells, but Luke was able to use each of them without any problems and made a lot of noise, but there didn't seem to be a single one that could match perfectly, or let Ollivander think that it could match perfectly.

Ollivander, who at first had been a little giddy at Luke's performance, already had beads of sweat on his forehead, "Mr Harris, I really don't know if I should say you're being overly picky or a comer, but at least you can temporarily use someone else's wand in an emergency without worrying about a spell being less powerful or even not being able to release it, if necessary. " He thought and thought and went back to the back room to hold out a box wrapped in silky satin.

Luke was rather pleased with himself for this talent, he couldn't really understand at all why some lesser wizards prided themselves on their ability to pick and choose their wands, if he had to rely on his own wand to do good magic, how could that not be a limitation and become a bragging right?

"Try this wand, mahogany, phoenix feather." Ollivander discreetly took out this wand with a fuchsia lustre, made like rhino horn.

Luke held the wand in his hand, a wonderful feeling rose in his heart, the wand seemed to become a part of his body, as Luke's thoughts turned, the top of the wand sparked in all directions, seemingly cheering for the encounter with Luke.

"Mahogany is good for shapeshifting, strong and long lasting, and extremely protective. And Phoenix Feather which is the rarest of all wand cores, Phoenix Feather wands are capable of casting the greatest range of magic, although they may take even longer than Unicorn Hair and Dragon Heart Tendon to go through to manifest this property. It has the strongest initiative of all the wand cores, sometimes even showing its own will, a trait that many wizards dislike though. And when Phoenix Feather wands meet potential owners, they are always choosy, and that's because the Phoenix - the producer of Phoenix Feathers - is the most independent and isolated creature in the world. Wands made of phoenix feathers are the hardest to domesticate and make fit their personalities, and their allegiance is usually hard to earn." Ollivander stared at Luke with pale eyes, very surprised.

Ollivander couldn't help but craning his head to look at Luke again as he fitted Luke with the wand care apparatus, "It's amazing, you're going to do great things, the wood for this wand came from the Muggle royal family of Germany in the early 1900's, it's been here for almost a century since the right core was found to make it work. You are the first to be able to use this wand with such aplomb."

After maintaining the necessary politeness to respond, Luke secretly decided that he was determined not to come to this shop if he didn't have to - he had heard that Ollivander's children had died, and being so enthusiastic about him couldn't be an attempt to make himself his heir as an apprentice wand maker in the future, could it?

Paying Mr Ollivander thirteen gold galleons for the wand, Mr Ollivander bowed and sent them out of the shop.
