It was dead silent. No one could hear any other sound except for the cold wind knocking on the windows and the sound of their footsteps. The group cautiously traversed the hallway of the first floor. It was a straight hall, but because of the numerous windows and rooms, they had to be careful, as anything could pop out.
"A chainsaw!?" exclaimed Avery, a hint of sadness still lingered in her voice.
Josef and Caden explained their experiences as they slowly walked through the first floor while in a semi-crouched walking posture.
"Woah, that's... a bit frightening." said Gerald.
"This dude or gal with a chainsaw decapitated everyone in my class, luckily I was able to hide just in time." explained Josef.
"Wait, so why did you have a gun with you?" asked Gerald.
"I'm not exactly sure myself, It was just there when I woke up."
"But what if someone is actually helping you? If you think about it, there aren't any gun stores near our school, and no teacher should have one lying around. Someone probably knew what was going to happen in the school and snuck a gun in, then gave it to you in order to protect yourself." said Avery.
"Who could have given it to Josef?" asked Josh.
"Maybe one of the teachers?" said Matt.
"I don't think that's it, the janitor himself said that the teachers were gathered in a hidden room, they most definitely couldn't have gotten out. Even after they were released, they are now murderous monsters, so they couldn't have possibly helped Josef." explained Gerald.
"Maybe it's one of the scientists then." said Avery.
"Maybe, but why was it Josef?" said Josh. "Why was he, out of all the students in the classroom, the one chosen to survive?"
"It was probably random." surmised Matt.
"Then there's the note, I wonder if the principal is really responsible for this." said Avery.
"Obviously, he is responsible, what else could they have meant by 'eradicate the principal'?" said Gerald.
"You have a point, but why did he do this?" asked Avery.
"Must be one messed up person." said Caden.
"So all we need to do is beat up this principal, and everything will be solved." said Matt. "If only we knew who he is."
"We need to look for him first, that's why we'll leave the school and ask around for help, maybe the police could help us." said Josef.
"Could you lower your voices, everyone, I don't think it's a good idea to be talking so much in this situation." said Serenity. She was still frightened by what had happened, her hands and legs were still shaking.
"Sorry about that, we'll whisper from now on. Look on the bright side, we only need to walk past one more classroom, and the exit will be just beyond that." said Caden.

He tried to sound reliable, but in comedic timing, just as he finished saying that they would all be quiet, the fire extinguisher that he was carrying as a makeshift weapon accidentally banged on a doorframe, which let out a loud, echoey metallic sound that traveled across the entire hallway.
"You stupid piece of shit!" Serenity shouted in a whispered tone.
They all stood still for a moment, and sweat began to surface as they nervously observed the barren hallway. It was dead silent, and the eerie atmosphere plus the temperature of the blizzard multiplied by the trauma that they experienced earlier made the silence even more frightening than anyone could comprehend.
"Thank goodness, it looks like it's just us on the first floor." said Caden, wiping off the sweat formed on his forehead with the back of his hand.
"You idiot! You could have killed us all!" whispered Serenity while pinching Caden's shoulder.
"Ouch! stop! I'm sorry, it won't happen again." apologized Caden.
They continued to walk, but even more slowly this time as they were still wary of their surroundings. After a few more seconds of eerie silence, they finally passed the last classroom before the main entrance.
"All right, who's going to take a look to see if it's safe?" said Caden.
"Since you almost doomed us all, you go." said Serenity.
"What!? I don't want to go!"
"Are you a pussy now, Caden?" said Matt.
"I'll gladly be a pussy if it means that I won't be risking my life. Why don't you go!?"
Suddenly, a sound could be heard. Everyone immediately froze as they heard it. It came from the corner, the very same corner that they were going to peek through in order to scope out the entrance door. It sounded like something was rattling, but no, it was more like something was rolling.
Roll, roll, click, roll roll, click, roll, roll, click.
It sounded like it was hitting the wall. With each click, the sound got closer and closer to them. Sweat began to emerge again. Click, the sound was extremely close, Josh pushed Caden to the front and held him there so he couldn't escape. Knowing that the others were just as cowardly as he was, Caden braced himself and held his fists up, ready to attack whatever was at the corner. Caden began to feel tensed as the sound had stopped, but suddenly, roll, Caden sighed in relief. What appeared was a cute and innocent mouse, it looked quite ordinary and definitely didn't need to be fought. The sounds came from a pen that it was playing with. Caden snatched the pen while the mouse was scared off and ran away, heading straight to the right half of the long hallway.
"Free pen." said Caden.
He immediately plunged it into the depths of his pocket, he didn't even test to see if it was black or red ink.
As he became confident that nothing else was there, Caden peeked out into the corner. There was no one there, just the large see-through doors, and the blizzard, nothing out of the ordinary. Caden walked to the door, he placed his hands on the cold glass, and pushed. It was unlocked.
"Guys! It's unlocked!" yelled Caden with a bright smile on his face.
As Caden turned around, his smile froze and gradually turned into fright. He realized that he made a grave mistake, he shouldn't have shouted, but it was too late.
When you enter the school through the main building, you are immediately faced with the stairwell on the other side. When Caden turned around, he saw a horrifying sight. There stood a figure on the stairs, average in stature, gender unknown, as the slightly oversized suit was hiding any assets that the figure could have. A ski mask covered its head, followed by a red mask that resembled an oni (demon). The mask had black horns with white pointy teeth and a mouth that formed a mischievous smile. The mask alone could send any kid running, but the worst part of it all was that the figure carried a severed head leaking blood on its left hand, and a blood-drenched chainsaw in its right.
For the first time, Serenity wasn't frozen in fear, instead, the second she caught a glimpse of the chainsaw, she immediately sprinted as fast as she could past Caden and out of the building.
The chainsaw figure grabbed the black starter cord and vigorously tugged on it, the engine started, and the chainsaw was now ready for action yet again. Residue of blood spit out from the chainsaw as the sharp teeth vigorously spun. The figure leaped out to the bottom of the stairs, and before the figure could stand up straight, everyone booked it for the exit.
"RUUUUUUNN!" screamed Gerald as the figure chased closely behind them.
