Chapter 3

Suddenly, rumbling came from the sky, lightning could be seen tearing across it. Vishrava and Kaikesi were startled. Both suddenly got up and walked out of their simple hut. The children too seemed o realize that something was amiss. Those children didn’t know about their ancestry as their parents never told them, so they were unaware of the danger they were in. the most the children could think about the danger was rain falling and flooding their simple hut. However, the perception of the children were about to change.

As they walked outside, a stunning scene awaited them. A line was suddenly seen in the sky. At first it didn’t look too noticeable. However it grew and grew until it formed a hole huge enough for a person to enter. Dozens of similar scenes were seen in the sky. From each of those, men dressed in golden or silver armor came out. Many had ruby studded breastplates and each of them had a Mukut in their head. Almost a hundred of them must have gathered over the hill that Vishrava and his family were staying at. Vsihrava knew what those holes were and he knew it was last he was going to see of them today. He knew that the big shots were yet to come. Those holes that seem to suddenly come in to the sky were portals. Usually these portals could only be found in specific place and were for the private use of each god. Those men that came out from the portals were gods as well. The gods used them when they visited the mortal plane to have some fun or when they needed the fulfillment of certain prophecies. These were usually put at the temples of the gods. But he knew these portals were different. Portals like these which appeared in mid air couldn’t be created by gods at their level of power. He knew it must have been one of the seven sages who did this. Vishrava himself had come through one of these portals when he escaped to the mortal plane.

A blurry figure suddenly appeared on top of the gods. Vishrava and Kaikesi froze as they saw the figure approaching. As the figure drew closer, one could see that the person was dressed in a white cloth. He didn’t have any of the golden armors or breastplate nor a mukut in his head, but every of the gods seem to dim in his presence. It looked like the man was one with the world. He was one of the seven sages, Kashyapa. The gods might not know but Visrava knew that one had to fully grasp the laws of space to be able to come so easily and naturally into the mortal plane and to create hundreds of those portals. Visrava too had studied the laws of space, but he had only grasped the edges of the law. He knew that it was very hard to learn even the basic law of space, but today he saw a sage who had at the very least understood the essence of space laws.

Kashyapa slowly descended from the sky and floated towards the couple. Behind him five golden armored gods followed. The children stared widely with mouths agape as they descended from the sky. Their eyes even started looking glazed as if their mind couldn’t comprehend the things that they were seeing.

As they reached the ground, one of the gold armored god moved forward. The golden armored gods were more powerful than those gods with silver armor almost by an entire level. He tried to unsheathe the sword on his waist and arrogantly spoke" Vishrava, you defied the seven sages and betrayed their trust, for this treason…."

Suddenly an overwhelming pressure descended on the god. The god froze and slowly turned back. A terrifying aura came from Kashyapa which didn’t match with his benevolent expression and placed a hand on the shoulder of the god. "Who told you to speak out of turn?" A black opened up just in front of the shocked god. Fear and despair was seen on his eyes. A little push by Kashyapa and the god went tumbling into the space which disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. The surrounding ones all shuddered as they realized the fate of the one that was pushed into that dark space. The space led to a part of the netherworld where a strange fleshy body lived. It had no conscience or intelligence. Once something entered the space it would paralyze it and slowly and torturously suck the soul out of it.

Silence filled the air as this happened. The remaining gods didn’t dare speak lest the same fate followed them. The overbearing pressure faded away as if it never had been there. Vishrava stepped forward and joined his palms together (Namaste) and bowed forward."Uncle, what brings you here to my humble abode?" He spoke. The children were surprised as the saw this.  To this day they hadn't known the ancestry of their parents. They had seen the children of the villagers with their uncles, grandfathers and other relatives, but had never seen their own. Naturally, they had assumed that their parents didn’t have any relatives. But seeing this scenario, they grew curious about their ancestry.

Kashyapa laughed bitterly and said " My dear Nephew, you know what I'm here for." With a sigh he said "You have to return with them right now. It has been decided by the sages."

The smile on Vishrava's face didn’t fade at all. Instead he smiled and said "Are you here to make sure that I don’t escape, Uncle?"

Kashyapa didn’t reply and turned his back towards Vishrava. With a sad look in his eyes, Kashyapa said" Arrest him." He then waved his hand which pushed the children and Kaikesi away from the place which was obviously going to be the field of battle. Vishrava did nothing to prevent this as he knew that Kashyapa was doing this only to move them out of harm's way.

As soon as those words came out, all the gods above started unsheathing their weapons. Some had a club in their hand while others had maces, spears, swords, spears, shields, axes and others in their hand. All started charging towards Vishrava. Vishrava with the same smile on his face moved forward as well. One of the golden armored god in front of him stabbed forward with his sabre. The attack was so strong that ripples could be seen in the space. It didn’t seem possible for the lean and seemingly powerless, Vishrava to fight against that. However, a huge piece of the earth suddenly seemed to rise up. This not only disturbed the pace of the attack of the golden armored god, but also deflected the attack. As he was distracted by the attack another golden armored god yelled" Watch out!"

He turned his head and saw a golden orb of fire piercing towards him. He wanted to block it but the earth suddenly turned to swamp and bound his hands and feet. The other gods tried to help him but the trees around them started entangling them.

"BOOM!" a huge bang sounded as the golden orb of fire hit the god. Dust floated up. As the dust cleared all the gods saw was the charred piece of land remaining. All the gods were shocked as they saw this scene.

They finally realized why the sages had sent so many gods to capture a single man. The golden armored god was a strong one even able to fight against 3 other at the same time. But he was slaughtered as easy as a chicken. At such a young age, Vishrava power was frightening. It hadn’t been even 50 years since he was born and he was already this strong. It was guaranteed that he would reach a sage's level of power if he lived long enough. In this way Vishrava showed his might like a proud tiger that looked down and frowned at the action of deer's trying to attack it.
