Chapter One
In the ancient city of Devgana
The dawn had just passed marking the beginning of the night. Though the nights were supposed to be dark, it was different in Devgana. It was a city where gods were as common as humans on earth these days. Yakshas were seen laughing flirting and teasing the gods; and the Nagas were seen to be dancing seductively. Overall the whole place was radiant, filled with light and magic in the air. However the queerest of things were not the different species or the gods that were present.
The strangest were the seven humongous palaces floating in the air above the city, looking like emperors looking down on everything. Those palaces must have at the very least been a thousand kilometers above the land, which should have made those palaces look like specks of dust. Yet even after that long a distance, the majestic presence of the palace were unaffected and untouched by the distance. The gods, Nagas and Yakshas below could only look at the palaces in awe and admiration if not with fanatic worship. The seven palaces all looked the same and even the people working or living in those palaces would be flustered and lost to figure out which was theirs if not for the huge name plaques hanging right above the palaces.
In one of the seven palaces,
A young man was standing in the middle of the huge hall which seemed to have been made of god, rubies and diamonds. The man wore a golden armor in his body and a golden mukut in his head which seemed to have priceless rubies and jewel added to increase its shine. He would have looked right at home in the hall if not for the flustered and panicky aura being emitted from him. At the head of the hall, was a man startlingly similar to him. The only difference was that the man wore a simple piece of white cloth and looked to be in his late years. Frankly the man didn’t look like he belonged there at all and would have been more at home in a middle of a peaceful jungle or mountain.
"Father we have to do something. The heir to that family is about to be born. On top of that it's from a rakhas mother. He even left Illavida and her son to fall in love with that She-devil. After thousand years of aligning with the gods, that guy chose to fall in love with a rakshas? At this rate won't that rakshas be above us? What are we going to do Father? How can we even let that child exist?" The young man spoke in a frantic voice. However the old man didn’t respond at all. Seeing this, the young man seemed to get irritated and shouted in a loud and forceful tone " Father, it will be a humiliation to us if that rakshas enters……….."
Suddenly an invisible wave seems to bind the young man. Fear could be evidently seen in his eyes. The old man opened his eyes and suddenly the aura around him started to change. It looked like that of a wild beast that locked onto his prey.
"Lower your voice stupid brat! Do I look like I need you to teach me what to do?" Whimpering sound could be heard from the young man as the pressure around him seemed to increase and blood could be seen dripping from his nose. The old man ignored this and continued" You don’t even see the actual picture and keep on blabbering about that female rakshas who defeated you. You really are blinded by your rage and obsession. However, what you said is true."
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
As the young man trembled hearing those words and hope could be seen in his eyes, the old man sighed and continued" That child can be a great threat to us considering his heritage from both his parent's side. Just from his bloodline alone it's nearly guaranteed that he's going to reach our level, what if….." just thinking about the possibilities made the man shudder. "Somehow we have to take care of the kid. The world doesn’t need another Principal diety, a Primal."
In another palace,
In a huge room servants were running around frantically and the whole place seemed frantic. Loud cries of a woman could be heard shouting in pain. The woman would have looked beautiful if not for the scary atmosphere and blood covering her. Holding her had stood a man. Looking at his clothes there was no doubt that he was a sage, and from the loving expression he showed towards the woman it could be seen that they were a couple.
The stomach of the woman was blotted which showed that the woman was about to give birth and was in a lot of pain.
"Just a bit more Kaikesi, Our baby is nearly here."
The man was a Vishrava a great sage, son of Pulastya who was the palace lord and the woman was Kaikesi a princess. Usually when the grandson of the palace lord is to be born there would be many great people around, however that was not the case here. Except a few number of servants, there was only the couple there.
In a hall of the same palace, many gods, nagas and yakshas were gathered and were creating a commotion. In front of them were six people with white clothing that defined them as sages. They were all standing in front of a person sitting in a throne who was a sage as well.
0ne of the seven sages standing spoke to the sage in the throne "Pulastya, you of all people should know better that the devas and rakshas don’t mix well, yet your own son married one. You know what kind of disaster this might bring about. Many of the gods are still ignorant of this fact but once they learn of this, all will conspire together to bring this palace down not to talk about the fate of the child itself."
Many other people kept blabbering the same thing and started demanding for the child and the mother to be killed. However Pulastya kept quiet. Finally some of the seven sages couldn’t take this any longer and said "Enough! As the direct descendants of the primal, we shall judge this for all of our sakes. The mother and the child will be exiled to the mortal world. However, the father Vishrava should remain here in the palace and is not allowed to accompany the mother and the child. Now all of you LEAVE!"
As the verdict was already made, the gods, yakshas and nagas started leaving and only the seven sages remained.
Looking at the quiet lord on the throne who still seemed to be in his own world, one of the seven sages sighed and one of them said" Sorry brother, but what was done had to be down." Saying this all of them started dissipating like mists and finally only the man remained. What the others didn’t see while they left was the small smile hanging in the face of Pulastya. A small voice echoed in the hall. "You still haven’t understood the will of the primal. Nobody can change what's about to happen now. A storm shall soon come; let's see if we survive this."
In the middle of such commotion, thus was born Ravana; one of the most powerful beings ever to roam the universe.
