Chapter 4
The remaining gods seeing this started releasing their own attacks on Vishrava. The sky was filled with lightning and fire, yet none of the attacks seemed to near Vishrava. The distance between the gods and Vishrava increased as well. Vishrava in turn waved his hand and a bow appeared out of nowhere. He just fired a single arrow high above the sky. Seeing him do this some of the silver armored gods started laughing. But the golden armored gods and some silver ones grew pale in face as they saw this. Some summoned shield and started covering themselves while other started running. The remaining gods were either laughing or puzzled and looking at Vishrava as if he had gone mad. No one looked at the arrow above except Kashyapa who sighed. Kashyapa had realized the weapon and the technique that Vishrava had used. He couldn't help but feel proud. Suddenly the light of the moon disappeared and whooshing sounds came from the sky. The laughter of the gods froze as they turned their head towards the sky. Terror could be seen on their face as hundreds of thousands of arrow fell from the sky above. The gods tried using their power to destroy the arrow or to cover themselves up but to noavail. The arrow didn’t spare any target that got hit. Even the shields enchanted by the power of gods were cut through like tofu. Those that ran were not spared as well. The golden armored gods were injured as well. He splendor of their armor dimmed and injuries could be seen on their bodies. Their arms and legs were pierced as well, so that they wouldn’t be able to contribute to the fight. Only Kashyapa remained unaffected. All in all out of almost a hundred gods sent, only Kashyapa and the three golden armored gods remained.
Seeing their plight, the remaining gods hurried towards, Kashyapa and pleaded" Lord Kashyapa, look what has happened to us. Our brothers all lay dead on this wasteland. Only you can save us now. Please do something." Kashyapa knew that he had to join the fight now. He really didn’t want to fight his own nephew who was the pride and joy of his life, but it still had to be done. He waved his hand which pushed the gods behind him saying "Stand Back."
Seeing, Kashyapa moving forward, the face of Vishrava grew grave but the expectation for the upcoming battle could be seen. He too readied himself as the bow disappeared. The early bird gets the worm, thinking this, Vishrava attacked first. Multiple volleys of lighting fell from the sky towards Kashyapa as Vishrava attacked. But the former stood still. He didn’t even move because he didn’t have to. A door like space opened above his head and the attack was absorbed into that space. A similar door opened behind Vishrava at the same time. Seeing this, the face of Vishrava grew even graver. He recollected himself and moved away fast from the space behind him which released the lightining. Even though he moved fast the lighting still hit him. On top of that the lightning seemed to have gotten stronger once it passed through the space. Bruised and battered he was pondering how this happened, when a shadow appeared behind him. The shocked Vishrava knew that the fight was over and there was nothing else he could do except resign himself to his fate. The shadow was none other than Kashyapa who muttered some words and a black binding chain appeared around him. It bound Vishrava who fell to the ground. The remaining three gods were in awe as they saw this. Even though it might seem like it took a large amount of time, it all happened in an amount of time required for breathing once.

Kaikesi and Vishrava both knew that it was only a matter of time before they were found by the gods. They knew this and so they had cherished every moment of their past fifteen years together, knowing that they had to part someday. From afar all Vishrava could do was look into the proud but tear filled eyes of Kaikesi. But the children were different. They didn’t know what was happening. All they saw was their father getting bound in chain and was bleeding. For the children, this was a moment of helplessness and fear seeing their hero getting taken down in such a way. This was the moment when they started actively thirsting for power. This was the moment that would change their life. Suppu started crying in the arms of her mother and started calling out to her father in her childish voice. The three brothers ran towards their father. Kashyapa did nothing to stop this. The three gods tried to move forward to take Vishrava away but seeing Kashyapa doing nothing they stopped their steps as well. Kaikesi too slowly moved forward.
The three boys reached the father first. They were trying hard not to cry as they saw their father like that. "father…" was all they could say. Vishrava gazed lovingly at them and said "You have grown my children. Father's sorry that he can no longer see you grow for quite a while hmm." Hearing this, the children could no longer stop their tears and started weeping. Kaikesi reached the children and Vishrava at the time as well. Both of them looked at each other. No words were required to communicate between them. After a while Vishrava looked towards the daughter Suppu, who was still crying looking towards the father and trying to move towards him. If the mother was not clutching her so tightly, she might have fallen from her grasp.
After what seemed like an eternity, Vishrava looked back towards his children. He then continued
"Do not trouble your mother much. And take special care of your sister. Now that I'll be gone, you have to depend on each other to survive. Father will be going now but someday he will be back. Till then take care of your mother for me. Ravana, you are the eldest, so, I'll leave all the responsibility in your shoulders."
As he finished saying this the gods moved forward. A space opened right before them. The children tried to stop the gods from taking him but Kashyapa appeared before them, and murmured a mantra. The children were paralyzed as this happened. They could only watch helplessly as their father was taken away. As he was being dragged away, Vishrava stopped in front of Kashyapa. Kashyapa turned towards him as well and said" Go, I'll stay here for a while." For those who didn’t know or who weren’t Vishrava, those words wouldn’t have much meaning. But Viskrava understood that this meant his family was protected. The other gods could come at any time and find the children and Kaikesi. Then who knows what might happen? But with Kashyapa staying there, no gods or any other beings would dare to make a move. Due to this Vishrava was grateful towards his uncle."Thank you" he said.
He then moved forward. Before he went into the portal he turned behind to look towards his family. He smiled at them and said "Stay united and Stay strong my children." Then he went along with the gods into the dark portal leaving everything he loved behind and hoping for the best.
As he went, he didn’t see the look of determination, resolve and hatred on the face of Ravana. All he saw was his child. The gods didn’t see this either because if they had, they would have known what the future held for them. They would know the consequence of their action. But they didn’t see this.
They didn’t realize the action they took would create a great power capable of making the world tremble. But soon they would.
