Chapter 7: My brother is a yandere (7)

After getting back home, Qin Yue went back to her room and took a quick shower.

She then sat in front of the dressing table with a frown as she dried her hair.

She had been planning secretly to take down the Pei family but she completely forgot about the matter of the engagement between her and Pei Lang.

After meeting him face to face, she could tell that it wouldn't be so easy for her to defeat him. As the male lead, he had the brains, power and status to meet that title. She had to quickly move her plans forward so that she could finish it all in one strike.

As for the matter of the engagement.....

For someone as proud as Pei Lang, wouldn't it give him a good blow if the person he looked down upon and disdained was the exact person to throw him away like a worn out shoes? Then he would see how that same person climbed higher while he stumbled down from his high status as the young heir of a powerful family.

She would give him the taste of his own game and make him taste the heaven then pull him down to hell in one fell swoop.

Male lead? Female lead? She didn't care whatever they were nor did she care about their long lifeline of a cockroach. Since they dare to love while trampling upon others happiness then they must be prepared to be trampled upon by them too.

Qin Yue held a bank card between her two fingers. It had the money the previous owner saved that totalled to 150,000 yuan.

Qin Yue curved her lips upwards as her eyes twinkled.

"This will be fun."

....

The days passed by quickly and the summer holiday also came to an end. The school will start from today and she will be a freshman.

These days, Qin Yue had been working on investments and secretly buying Pei family's scattered stocks in small amount to not arouse their suspicion.

With the help of the story plot inside her head, she knew where to invest to gain long-term benefits and had already earned a sum of money in just a few days.

It was great that she had been someone who had dabbled in the field of business before and had learned many things regarding to earning money with small efforts and only needed great insight to the popular trends. Or else how would she be able to raise her family of two by herself?

With this, she just needed to wait for the right time to put an end to this show.

....

It was still early in the morning, the servants were bustling around the house to do their daily chores.

Father Ruan was sitting on the sofa in the living room while reading a newspaper, dressed in his formal suit, probably about to head to work in the company after having breakfast.

Nowadays, madam Ruan was finally willing to let the matter about Ruan Jing Xin go. Of course, the whole credit went to Qin Yue for persuading her about how she always wanted a little brother and how Xiao Xin Xin was a good boy or how she would finally have a sibling she could dote on and stuff.

Madam Ruan really loved her daughter dearly and just for her happiness, she let the matter go and returned to how it was before.

It was just an increase of 1 mouth to feed, their Ruan family had enough to raise him. As long as it makes her daughter happy, she didn't mind letting him stay.

So for the first time, the dining hall wasn't filled with the usual awkward silence but instead had a warm feeling to it.

Qin Yue was very attentive to her little brother and picked some of his favourite dishes for him, feeling as if she had gone back to the time when she did the same for her Ah Xin.

Her eyes couldn't help but show a trace of yearning and deep gentleness in the depth but it quickly disappeared without a trace, regaining its calm.

Feeling something wrong in her expression, Ruan Jing Xin glanced at her in slight suspicion after not finding anything wrong again.

Was it just his misperception?

Seeing him looking at her, Qin Yue smiled gently and urged him to eat his food only then did he lower his head to eat, shaking away the strange feeling from before.

"Yue'er, Xin'er is new to the school so he might find it unfamiliar and uncomfortable there so make sure to help him from time to time until he adjusts to the environment. You also study hard and take care of yourself in the school, don't always stick around with Pei Lang. Even though he is your fiance since small, you should still look after your image and not be like those other girls from small families."

Father Ruan had a serious face as he spoke. He knew that his daughter always liked Pei Lang since small and was happy for her but he could also tell that Pei Lang didn't like how she always stuck around him like a glue so he couldn't help but advise her.

He didn't care about anything but her happiness. But for that, she had to have a good impression in Pei Lang's eyes.

From what he could tell from his perspective, he wasn't very optimistic about the relationship between his daughter and Pei Lang. But he also didn't want to see his daughter heartbroken.

"I got it, dad. No one will dare to lay a finger on my Xiao Xin Xin while I'm still there. And from now on, I won't get close to young master Pei either. Dad, I have realised that it is impossible between him and I. Is it possible to break our engagement?"

Qin Yue had been waiting for a chance to tell father Ruan about the engagement and it finally came. She must make sure that it was her side that broke off the engagement and let everyone know that it was her who didn't want the young master Pei that everyone took in high regards.

This way, although the friendship between the two families might waver a bit but it didn't matter since she would soon make a move against the Pei family and will be enemies from then on.

Hearing her words that was said casually as if declaring something simple, father Ruan and madam Ruan were taken aback, completely stunned.

"You...are you aware what you are saying? Didn't you like Pei Lang so much before? Why did you suddenly change your mind?" Father Ruan stuttered a bit as he asked in a stern tone, facing her seriously.

"Yes, ah. Yue'er, you must think carefully before you do anything so that you won't regret later. You clearly liked Pei Lang before. Or did he do something to hurt you?! That's why you are saying this for having your heart broken?! Tell mother, mother will definitely give you justice! I won't let anyone harm my precious darling!"

Madam Ruan also had a cold face as she thought about how her daughter might have been hurt by Pei Lang and even imagined many scenarios of her daughter getting cheated on or betrayed by him.

Seeing the two looking as if they were going to kill someone, Qin Yue felt her lips twitch awkwardly.

"It's nothing like what you said mom. I just realised that my feelings for him was nothing but a bit of admiration when I was still young and ignorant and took it as me liking him. Now that I have finally figured out that it wasn't the case, I do not want to be tied up in this engagement where no one is happy."

"I can tell that Pei Lang doesn't like me either and was just forced to be nice towards me because of our engagement and the closeness of our families. Since both of us are unhappy with this engagement, why not just destroy it? This way, both parties will be happy and no one will make faults at us for this since both involved parties approve of this."

Qin Yue patiently explained to her parents as she tried to persuade them into agreeing with her idea, making it sound more convincing.

"It does seem reasonable. But...are you really sure that you want to break off the engagement? Yue'er, the matter about the engagement is very important for your future and happiness. What if you regretted it at the end after dissolving the engagement?"

Father Ruan finally sighed and tried to make her think about it carefully.

"As you said dad, the matter about my engagement is very important for my future and happiness. If I get married to the person I don't like in the future, wouldn't I always be unhappy for the second half of my life? Dad, please understand me and help me break the engagement."

Qin Yue stared at father Ruan with an imploring and serious gaze. Her eyes sincere and filled with determination to end the engagement.

"Dear, since Yue'er doesn't want this engagement then just let her fulfil her wish. She has grown up already and can make her own decisions about her future. It would be fine if she had feelings for the Pei kid but now that she doesn't then there is no point about this engagement. Her happiness is more important."

Madam Ruan finally softened and spoke to father Ruan on her daughter's behalf.

"Mom...." Qin Yue felt a warm current inside her heart and the rims of her eyes became red, feeling very touched.

This must be the remaining emotions of the original host. Her family loved her so much but she only took it as granted and didn't care about them, only thinking about love and regretting it in her death.

What was the use of regret after everything had passed and left in the records of history? She(RYY) could only wash away her regret through the help of her(QY) but could never do it herself.

That's why you have to pay attention to the people around you and treat them like they treat you so that you won't have the chance to regret later on. Life is only so short so why be so obsessed about one thing that you might never get in your life instead of living it happily with what you already have?

Human beings are all the same, driven by their desires. Unless they could obtain the thing they want, they wouldn't care to abandon those they had in their possession just to get it, even their own lives.

If they could obtain it then they would only feel it was worth their previous sacrifice but if they failed then they would break down with their own regrets and guilt.

Qin Yue couldn't feel sympathy for others nor criticise them. She herself was also someone driven by the desire to save her brother. For that, she could do anything. Even if it meant that she had to work hard like an ox or fight to death for it, she would do her best to reach her goal.

After all, she was also a human being.

"...I understand. Since you have decided, I will help you break off the engagement. I will give an explanation to the Pei family and won't let you take any blame about this matter. Rest assured, dad will never let you down. Your happiness is more important."

Father Ruan gently smiled as he affectionately stroked her head, finally giving in to their persuasion.

"Thanks dad, mom." Qin Yue smiled happily and hugged them tightly. The Ruan couples hugged her back with a gentle smile tugging on their lips.

Ruan Jing Xin watched it from his seat silently, a strange feeling welling up inside his heart as he felt somewhat down from seeing this warm scene in front of him. He was trying his best to keep his calm when he suddenly felt a tug on his sleeve. He raised his head in surprise to look at the hand grasping his wrist then faced the girl in front of him.

Qin Yue smiled brightly as she said,

"Xiao Xin Xin, won't you join in for a family hug?"

She then stretched her free arm towards him as she hugged the Ruan couple with her other arm, looking at him in anticipation.

For the first time, madam Ruan also smiled at him gently then nodded to him while father Ruan waited for him with the same smile on his face, his eyes full of affection.

Ruan Jing Xin felt his lips tremble as ripples formed in his eyes, glistening with tears. His heart felt like a cat was scratching lightly with its soft paws, itchy yet warm. He held her outstretched hand and pounced into their arms for a hug.

After the death of his mother, he had never felt so warm like this very moment. He felt like his empty heart was finally filled to the brim and it was all thanks to the girl embracing him in her arms.

He looked up at her beautiful face, looking gently at him and gave a rare, innocent smile at her which stunned all of them silly.

Ruan Jing Xin was after all, still a small child. Although he always had a calm exterior like that of an adult but he also felt insecurity inside and yearned for warmth.

After his mother left him at a young age, he had closed off his heart from the outside world but unbeknownst to him, a certain someone had already crawled inside his heart slowly.

This was the first time he smiled after coming to this house and it was the most sincere and heartfelt smile he had ever shown in his life.

His smile was very bright, lighting up his handsome features like a sun; dazzling their poor little eyes.

He was really very glad to meet her, the her who gave him the feeling of a family again in his life.

The scene inside the hall was very warm, overflowing with the feeling of a harmonious family that could warm the hearts of an onlooker.
