Volume 1: The Apocalypse: Chapter 4 - A Blood Drinker's Cruelty

A Blood Drinker’s Cruelty

[Obey Your Blood]

This monster was something that Audrey and the others could kill quite easily. But the level difference was huge and it probably hard around six hundred strength if not more. Its defense, vitality and such? Elena didn’t even dare to think about it.

Releasing her lightning arrow, it sucked away a hundred Mana from her, meaning that she lost one-third of her Mana. It struck the bear, leaving a burned patch on its neck, slowing its movements. While it shook its body to regain its control over its messy nervous system, Dred used Dark Magic. As his magical attack hit the side of the bear, he jumped after it, biting into its side. He knew that his paw strikes wouldn’t work on it anyway…

The bear roared out in pain as it regained its control and feelings. Elena’s shadow extended outward and caught the bear’s shadow. Tho’ its fur started drying and falling out, but it was a slow process. Elena knew that she had to prolong this battle to kill it or else they would have to flee.

The bear swung its paw towards Dred, who quickly turned into his shadow form, leaving the bear dumbfounded. It roared angrily, hating Dred because he escaped its attack. After shooting her arrow, Elena tried to meditate for a short time to regain some Mana. But at this time, the bear charged towards her.

While running, she took out her old kitchen knife and threw it towards the bear. Her knife was coated in Fire as that was one of the most effective kinds of Magic at this moment. Unexpectedly, the bear stomped on the ground and an earth wall raised out of the ground, right in front of the knife. Although Elena’s dagger penetrated the wall, it had little to no strength left in it and her Fire Magic was extinguished as well.

“Uh… you are such a problematic monster!” She exclaimed as she aimed with her bow to shoot a black arrow towards the bear. Even though the bear used a light barrier to stop it, Dred was waiting for the right moment! As it used its Light Magic, Dred jumped out of its shadow and bit into the hind leg of the bear. Tearing out a few tendons, he quickly turned around and fled.

They wanted to harass this monster to the death. Feeling angered and feeling the pain, it bellowed out and stomped on the ground. Feeling it trembling, Elena quickly jumped up. Long vines shot out of the ground and coiled around her body. While using Devour, she can’t turn into her Shadow Form, unless breaking the connection. Dred easily escaped as he had no such restrictions.

The vines coiled around her body, holding her in place. The bear charged towards her with incredible speed, considering its size. Dred appeared on time to cut off the vines and jump away from the incoming paw strike of the bear. The whole vine garden it created around Elena was smashed into a green pulp under its strength.

That would have been a one-shot attack if not for being saved. Elena stood up on Dred’s back and jumped up to a tree branch. The bear roared angrily, charging at her. It was so tall that it reached even her… before it could bite her legs, she jumped up once more and landed on the back of the bear. Pulling out her daggers, she thrust it into its back. She used one-third of her Mana once again to coat her daggers in powerful Dark Magic.

It easily penetrated the bald back of the bear, leaving a large wound on it. Her arms sunk into its back, turning her completely bloody, which she enjoyed a lot. Its blood splashed on her face and she couldn’t help but lick her lips in excitement. She kept thrusting her dagger into its back with a crazed face, leaving a hole in it. Dred used ShadowStep to teleport after Elena and shot magical attacks towards the bear. It couldn’t do anything against Elena since she was in the hole she dug in its huge body.

The bear fell on its back and started rolling on the ground, roaring continuously, feeling lots of pain, which only made Elena feel even better. Y-Yes! This is my path! Humans and their stupid morals? HAHAHA! The path of blood! I’ll devour everything that is alive and is my enemy! Their world shall perish before me! I’ll rain hell on anyone who dares to threaten me. Elena thought as she started finding her path. She realized that she loved bloody fights and battles. She felt excited when blood sprayed on her body. The blood of her enemies.

Seeing the beating heart of the defenseless bear, she thrust her daggers through it. The muscles in the bear’s body contracted and stiffened up, leaving her space really cramped.

Controlling her Mana, she discharged it all around her, in the form of a Dark Wave. Although she was left without any Mana in her body, the bear withered and turned into dust. Feeling tired, they devoured its remnants, gaining a huge boost of strength.

You have gained: +25 Strength; +5 Wisdom; +5 Agility; +15 Vitality!

You have leveled up to Lv. 17!

You have gained a new title: Pathfinder!

You have gained a new title: Blood Drinker!

Your skill has leveled up: Shadow Form Lv. 4!

Elena was leaning on Dred’s side, sleeping peacefully. Dred felt equally tired as he felt the changes in his body. With the last bits of Mana he had, he raised a stone tent around themselves.

Falling asleep, the muscles in Elena’s arms transformed, turning stronger and thicker. She looked like a fit, trained woman. Her body had grown by at least fifteen centimeters, reaching a height of a hundred and fifty centimeters. Her female parts have also grown exceptionally, while black fur grew on her body, which soon disappeared. It was because of her new title! Though she didn’t know about it yet.

Dred also got these notifications, except for Pathfinder. But he has got something different. A skill!

New Skill Acquired: Shapeshift!

In all honesty, neither Elena nor Dred cared too much about skills as they had quite a lot of racial skills, which were of the best quality. But this one, they will surely like once they awake.

----

About two hours later, they woke up with a mind-splitting headache. They had no Mana left in their bodies, which felt terrible after tasting it. They felt starved. Groaning, Elena sat up with her legs crossed and started meditating. Thanks to spending all her Mana… when her Mana Veins were filled up once again, they went through a transformation, turning twice as wide as before. She was surprised to see that her intelligence grew by another twenty points. Seeing the rows of notifications, she inspected all of them, even Dred’s.

Title: Pathfinder

Those who found their path and learned of their inner darkness know who they are. Those who own this title are more charismatic than the others. Affecting others isn’t just a dream.

Title: Blood Drinker

You drank the blood of your enemy and you enjoyed it more than anything. Even if this changes in the future, you are a monster in the heart. Your bloodlust can affect the thinking of other people, turning them slower or even afraid of you, just by a look. Blood Drinkers tend to inherit a few traits of the opponents they killed and devoured. Hiding or showing these traits is the owner’s own decision.

Title: The Only One

You are the only one alive from your race. People who are alike can easily take a liking to you, while others can start hating you very easily. Those who own this title are usually real troublemakers, causing battles or even wars to break out.

Skill: Shapeshift (Dred)

You are a true monster. Monsters don’t have just one shape. The owner of this skill is able to transform into a few monsters, receiving their best traits. (Currently owned: Bear Form) Possible to take other shapes after devouring and drinking the blood of your enemies. The Blood is your connection with those who fell to your claws and teeth.

Seeing Dred’s skill, Elena felt really happy. He could be the shadow lurking behind her, protecting her when the need arose, or he could be the heavy wall, defending her from the tough monsters.

Standing up, their eyes had a different glint in them. They changed. Looking at her arm, black fur grew out on it, similar to Dred’s. “Wanna give some blood? Hehe~” She said jokingly to Dred, who rubbed his head on hers as an answer. “Maybe later. Now let’s go and prepare our little present. We also have to level up a few more times and devour more monsters,” she added, standing up, getting ready to leave.

Looking down, she realized that she has grown a lot… at many places. Grabbing her plump chest, she smiled happily, feeling proud of herself. This girl is a pervert… getting excited by drinking blood and touching herself? Dred thought while looking at Elena.

“What’s up? Why are you looking at me like that?” She asked, noticing Dred’s strange look. Shrugging, he turned around and waited for her to sit on him. Taking her place, she muttered to Dred. “Just to be clear, I was simply curious…”

Picking up the thing on the ground, which appeared after killing the bear, Elena inspected it.

Rune of Biotic Enhance

Consuming this Rune, your body and mind will evolve quicker than before.

“That’s really nice,” Elena said and then put it into her mouth. Cutting a wound on her wrist, she leaned forward and put it into Dred’s mouth. They could share anything through their blood. This was also exclusive to their race as they were born together.

Dred bellowed out with a huge roar and ran towards a nearby monster he smelled. After spending another three hours in the forest, they left towards the city, evading Jake’s territory. Entering her dungeon, she started spawning monsters in it. She was surprised to see that the level of the dungeon was the same as hers and that its area increased.

A dungeon at the twentieth level? It was her pleasure to own it! After filling the parking lot to the brim with ogres, she commanded them to stay there. Leaving it, she noticed the park in front of her. But there were tall walls on the roads and the only way through was the buildings. Do they want to fight here? Is this my lucky day? It couldn’t be any better! She thought happily.

Originally, she just wanted to ambush them when they came through these streets and kill a few people. But for them to fight here? This was literally a tactical advantage for them! Seeing that the sky was turning gray, she entered the boss room of the ogres and started training her body, her reflexes by evading Dred’s magical attacks, and her mind by meditating. She also started unfolding the knowledge in her mind about the elements.

How did the fire element work, how did the water element work? Those were her questions for each element. Luckily for her, this kind of knowledge was inside her mind. She just had to unravel them and comprehend them. Feeling slightly tired, she took a nap, along with Dred. Leaving the room, she turned into a shadow on the ground and moved towards the walls. The streets were lit up by light magic. When it was night, Elena had the most advantage.

Because… if everything was dark, she could be anywhere. This meant that as long as they had Mana, she and Dred could teleport anywhere. Fighting against her in the dark was one of the worst decisions people could make. The only limitation was the range as she couldn’t teleport too far away at once. Her limit was fifty meters, for now.

The elements and Elemental Magic were only at the bottom of the ladder. At one point, everyone learned how to use them, even warriors. To these humans, who knew how the elements worked, learning them was easy. They had problems with controlling their Mana at first. Not the elements. That’s why Mages were really powerful here. Davis’s people were mostly Mages. But without any real melee fighter on their side, once someone can get into their ranks, that person can rain hell on them.

Elena was waiting for them eagerly since she was exactly such a person. Noticing Audrey on the walls, she appeared behind her without even a sound leaving her lips or body. “WOH!” She shouted behind her with her arms spread, scaring the shit out of Audrey. The poor girl jumped off of the walls in her surprise. Luckily for her, Dred caught her and brought her back.

Adjusting her hair, with a slightly red face, she said, “Damn… Elena! What if I’ve got a heart attack?”

“Hahaha~ but you should have seen your face. Also, you are a friend of mine, so don’t fear the night. Embrace it~” Elena replied, still laughing at Audrey’s sacred face.

“And what about your body? Girl, look at yourself… you have grown up!” Frowning, Audrey inspected Elena and remarked on her new sizes. Continuing, “You really aren’t a human… there is no way that we could grow this quickly,” switching to whispering, she added, “So? How much did you advance this time?”

Grabbing her hand, Elena pulled on it and brought Audrey to a nearby building. “I showed you my whole table last time. But you didn’t. So this time, you will have to do it before me!”

Shrugging her shoulders, Audrey nodded and the awaited table appeared in front of Elena.

“Eh? You have so many skills? But those are your own skills, right?” Elena’s eyes opened widely upon seeing her stats. Audrey has probably grown quite a lot and seeing her Mana and passive stats, Elena had a rough guess about Audrey’s exact strength.

She also understood that her own elemental magic was really weak compared to the norm, but she was still a newborn… Although she didn’t have a chance in a magical battle, using her racial skills and her physical attributes, she had! I just need more time to increase the level of my skills… they are really low at the moment. She thought upon realizing her lack of knowledge when it came to Magic.

...

Seeing the evolution Elena went through, Audrey was left dumbfounded. “And you are one to talk!? You damned cheater!” She shouted in her surprise, catching the attention of a few people outside. Jake rushed in to see what was going on.

“Are you back?” He asked Elena as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

“Visibly no,” Elena answered with a smirk on her face, taunting Jake.

“.... I should have never let you in. This is all because of you…” Shaking his head sideways, seeing that Elena was enjoying this whole war thing, he turned around and left.

“Hahaha~ Yes,” laughing at him, she remarked. Calming down, she questioned Audrey about her skills and learned that Corruption used Audrey’s knowledge about the human body. Shooting an arrow of Mana into her target's body, she could place a curse effect on them, which would start killing her target from the inside. This could be resisted, but fighting and focusing on resisting her curse at the same time would be surely terrible.

Life funnel was a way for her to suck away other people’s life force to heal herself. Hearing the explanations of Audrey’s spells, Elena frowned, remarking on her magical attacks being very dark and evil. Even though she wasn’t any different…

“And what does ‘Affliction’ gives you other than bonus stats?” Feeling curious, she questioned her.

Frowning slightly, Audrey answered. “Ehm… the effects of my curse type of attacks are increased by ten percent and it makes my mind think about curses more often, resulting in more curse-type skills.”

“So you are thinking of evil things all the time.” Raising a brow, Elena pointed out the truth. Seeing Audrey staying mute, meaning that she agreed with her, she added with a bright smile. “You are my best friend!” After patting her back, she also told her what did her specialization give her. Dred entered the dungeon, ready to command the Ogres, while they went up to the rooftop.

Noticing the arrival of their enemies, with torches in hands, Audrey laughed at them saying, “Hahaha, like idiot barbarians! You see better in the dark. Do they have forks in hand?” Ridiculing them, she questioned Elena. Elena shook her head sideways as an answer, with a smile on her face. Her charisma and her titles were helping her out. Audrey didn’t even notice that Elena barely changed anything, while she was turning worse by the day.

“Hey, I have a question,” looking at Audrey, Elena said aloud. Raising a brow, waiting for Elena to continue, Elena complied. “Do you know that your personality is being affected by me?”

“My personality?” Audrey was like an echo as she repeated her words. Seeing Elena nod, she asked, “Why so? I didn’t notice anything.”

Smiling, Elena replied, “Well, it’s nothing big. The changes my presence causes are always subtle and small. Unless you are looking for it, you can’t notice it.” Hearing her saying that, she started remembering about how she was before meeting Elena. At first, she even stopped her from killing others. While later, she not only slapped the same person across the face but even stayed silent about killing them.

This was coupled with her remark on the people, who were supposedly coming here to protect their own future from the monster, which they were feeding. Not to mention, that she wasn’t nervous when thinking about killing those who were coming here. “I-I indeed changed…” she muttered to herself, realizing the truth. Shrugging once, she added, “Well, our world is changing, so I too should change. Being crueler and monster-like might be the best for me.”

“You accepted it quite easily,” Elena remarked, turning back to look at the incoming waves of people. Not saying anything, Audrey stayed silent, thinking. I know that I am affected by you, stupid girl. But I was never a part of this community. No… maybe not even a part of humans. Since that case, I can’t look at them the way I did before. Maybe you can show me a different lifestyle, I might enjoy.

Davis and his entourage stopped in front of the walls to talk. He was still just a human, after all. “Jake! Why do you want to attack us?” He shouted while Raven facepalmed in the back. She imagined this differently.

“I don’t want to attack you. We had a dispute with one of our members, who lied to you… Why would I care about killing other humans? The World System doesn’t reward us if we kill our own race, so I truly don’t have any reason to attack you. Your brain was stuffed with lies…” Jake shouted back, feeling annoyed by this whole mess.

Turning around to look at Raven, Davis raised a brow, waiting for an explanation.

“What are you looking at? They are feeding a monster! We should kill her! I don’t care about the others,” Raven shouted, feeling annoyed.

“Could you hand over that monster to us?” Turning around with a frown on his face, Davis asked.

“No… she has helped us. In case you let this go, I’ll tell you how to solve your food problems!” Jake replied almost instantly and then threw in the bait. Making a thoughtful face, Davis nodded, very much to Raven’s displeasure.

“In that case, let’s talk in priv-” Davis shouted once again, but at that time, an arm coiled around his neck and a dagger passed through his heart. With a fraction of a second later, another dagger entered his brain, through his left eye, killing him instantly. His body fell to the ground, lifelessly. In a few seconds, his body disappeared as he turned into a part of Elena’s strength. The humans looked at this with dumbfounded eyes and Jake wasn’t an exception.

“Well, that was easy… you helped me a lot by coming here yourself,” Elena muttered silently, cleaning the blood from her hands with Water Magic. Raven wanted to shout something, but Dred appeared before she could do so and took away her life as well. Devouring two such powerful humans, gave a lot to Elena and Dred. Their understanding of the elements increased by leaps and bounds.

Elena also got a skill from Raven, called Inferno, while she got another one from Davis, called Frost Bolt. Not caring about those stupid skills or the humans around her, she opened her status and quickly hid away those two skills, so that they won’t bother her eyes. Turning into a shadow, she left the place and went towards her dungeon. Naturally, these humans didn’t see where she went as their light bulbs didn’t have a big range.

“Now, I’m liking this! Stealing their knowledge was much easier. Teaching Dred won’t be hard either, so you can catch up to me quickly. Hehe~” Elena laughed happily upon seeing that her skills leveled up by seven or even more levels. Feeling a slight headache and her body being pressured, she sat down to meditate.

Her veins started widening, while the wisdom she has gained started consolidating in her mind. When she felt that everything was done, she cut her finger and put it into Dred’s mouth. Drinking her blood, Dred learned the things Elena knew in a few minutes. Their elemental magic jumped up by ten levels straight!

Standing up, she cracked her bones and then sat on Dred, saying, “Let’s have some fun with the food.” Roaring, Dred ran forward. The humans were visibly looking for someone. Chuckling, they used their Shadow Forms to creep up on the walls of the house they were before and stopped beside Audrey.

With her head out of the ground, she talked. “Hi! I’m back.”

Sighing loudly, Audrey hung her head down, saying. “I’m not really a human anymore, am I? I don’t even feel bad after seeing you kill him. Well, he did want to ‘trade’ you before learning about the solution of the food problem…”

“And that is exactly why I killed him. And… he was a really easy target. Real Mages have barriers around them all the time. Or so my inborn memories are saying. And the bonus stats were really good as well,” Elena cut into her words and explained herself.

“Could you climb out of the ground? It’s really creepy to talk with a head…” Audrey said frowning, as a shudder ran through her body. Noticing Elena’s new sizes, she was greatly surprised. Not knowing why was she looking at her like that, Elena questioned her.

“Why do I look like that, you ask? Look at yourself! You have grown again!” Audrey exclaimed, pointing at Elena. Her shout also caught the ears of many people, resulting in them, noticing Elena. “Damn… you screwed up… I’ll train you,” Elena muttered, turning into a shadow and quickly fleeing. Bolts of lightning and fire were flying towards her position. Audrey quickly stepped back to evade the magical attacks.

The rooftop of the building crumbled down. Luckily, she was quick enough to step onto the rooftop next the house she was standing on before. “Where are you aiming at!?” She shouted angrily, but the humans just pointed their palms towards her. She was chatting in a friendly way with their enemy. Why would they look at her differently? Shit… Audrey thought upon realizing this.

Seeing her friend in trouble, Elena went back and jumped off of the building. With Audrey in her arms, she ran towards her own dungeon. Using her Sense, she evaded every attack coming from behind. Her body has grown up to be a hundred and sixty centimeters tall by now and Audrey wasn’t much taller either.

“Dred… could we switch? I mean, running like this really sucks for me….” Elena remarked, panting. Her lazy shadow raised out of the ground and Elena quickly threw Audrey over to his back. “Once we get out, I’ll make you train your damned body…” Elena threatened Audrey, feeling annoyed that they had to save her ass all the time.

“Fine…” Audrey muttered silently, feeling slightly afraid of her future.

They entered the parking lot and Audrey was surprised to see the number of ogres standing there. Not bothering with them, Elena rushed towards the boss room. “Kill anyone who enters after us!” She commanded. She pulled Audrey off of Dred’s back and made her sit on the ground.

Grabbing the sides of Audrey’s head, she looked into her eyes, saying. “Listen to me. Now I’ll tell you how to use Shadow Step. It’s not exclusive to my race. Any assassin would have it. With the amount of Mana you have, you can follow me easily. Close your eyes and focus on nothing. Just feel your surroundings. It’s very similar to Sense.” Doing as told, Audrey followed her leading.

“Now fall deeper and deeper until you find a black corridor. When you have it, just enter it. You should feel every shadow there is,” Elena continued on with her instructions.

A few minutes later she opened her eyes with a smile on her face, saying that she has got it. Using it, she appeared behind Elena, who was already facing her. “Eh? You are no fun. I wanted to sneak up on you,” Audrey said, feeling surprised.

“Don’t even dream. That node is my domain. I can feel everyone moving through it. Haha~ but congratulations on learning it. Now… we should have some fun. Take this kitchen knife… it’s enough against these weak Mages,” Elena said arrogantly while handing over the knife.

“What will I become? A Mage Assassin? I’ve never heard of such a class…” Audrey talked to herself. The battle in the parking lot started by now. The humans were standing outside, raining hell on the ogres, who couldn’t reach them before falling.

Jake and the humans who knew Elena didn’t know what to do. They were still standing behind the walls, in a dumbfounded state, not expecting this turn of events. Davis was about to agree to let everyone go peacefully, yet Elena killed him before anything of the sort could happen.

Elena used her ShadowStep and appeared in front of Jake, who raised his arms defensively. Stopping in front of him, grabbing his collar, she shouted. “What are you looking at? Weren’t they trying to attack you not long ago? Where is that fire that burned in your heart when you learned about the truth? They were lead by their noses, yes. And what if the next time someone plans things out more carefully. Will they kill all of you while being led around by the nose like some kinds of idiots? I’m not going to wait for that!”

Finishing her words, she turned around and jumped into the battle. She started devouring everyone, with Dred in tow, while Audrey also killed a few humans here and there. The Ogres ran out of the parking lot and attacked the humans in the back. Under the onslaught of the powerful ogres, the weak Mages had no chance. They should have stayed further away to do something.

Frowning, Jake couldn’t help but think about Elena’s words. Seeing her charismatic posture, something clicked in his mind. But not in the right way. This isn’t right. She is way too ruthless and cruel. She isn’t one of us and she is slaughtering the humans. What will she do once she turns stronger and we disagree? Will she kill us as well? She is more like a veteran soldier with psychological problems… her hands are too bloody! He thought upon realizing that they weren’t alike.

“JAKE! What should we do?” One of the people shouted from the back, not knowing whether to help the other humans or Elena. Seeing that the number of humans was decreasing continuously, Jake clenched his fists, still not coming to a decision.

But I can’t kill her, can I? She helped us out of her own accord and didn’t ask for anything. She stayed with us only for the company, meaning that she is still similar to us, isn’t she? The amount of strength she has gained in this short time is way too much! I-I’ll just stay out of this. They were after her life and I don’t wish to turn such a monster into our enemy by helping the others. The people with me are big enough of a burden, I don’t need more.

Thinking that far, he looked up and raised his hand, saying in a serious manner, “We will stay out of this. Help her only if she is in danger, otherwise, we will just watch.”

“Are you sure? She is killing our kind…” One of the humans shouted, earning a laughter from Elena, who heard it.

“Hahaha, no! I’m not killing your kind. I’m killing anyone who wants to kill me or block my path,” spinning in the air, she kicked off a human’s head, while she also beheaded another one. Landing on the ground, long spikes rose up under her control, penetrating the remaining few humans.

Panting heavily, Audrey thrust her knife through the chest of the last person alive and then wiped off the sweat from her forehead, smiling. “Haah- This was way too tiring…. I’m totally wasted. I should have trained my body more….” Still panting, she sat down on a corpse and voiced her feelings about her lack of strength.

Although she had a lot of stamina, her strength was too little. No matter how much vitality and stamina she had if she was lacking in strength. This was because she had to use her full strength with each strike, which took a lot out of her. Meanwhile, Elena barely had to use her strength to behead someone, resulting in her current state. Even after such a battle, she breathed steadily, though slightly quicker than usual.

Looking into Jake’s eyes, she said, “I understand your fear for me. I do grow quickly and this night, I’ll probably turn stronger than you, humans. But unless you turn against me or conspire against me, I won’t hurt any of you.”

As she finished talking, her shadow that was darker than the night, spread out all around her and devoured the humans in a steady pace. Naturally, Dred followed her example. As the corpse disappeared from under Audrey, she fell on her butt. Elena looked towards the sky with her eyes closed, and breathed out long, feeling great pleasure. She felt like someone who took in some drugs.

Small ripples went through her skin, while her eyes shone with a much stronger light. Her Mana Veins collapsed and then rebuilt themselves in a few seconds, numerous times. Her muscles also turned slightly stronger. But not by much as there were only five warriors, who were quickly taken care of by Dred’s sneaky attacks.

Great knowledge entered her mind about how the humans usually behaved, about how the elements worked, about how the world around them worked. Even if it was only the understanding of an average human, it was still more than what Elena ever knew. Feeling blissful, she closed her eyes for a few seconds.

Beautiful… One of the humans who had a more artistic soul thought upon seeing her. Although there were patches of blood on the ground, all around her body, the way she stood there was mesmerizing. The wind caught her silky black hair, making it fly into the air, while the folds on her clothes fluttered in the wind.

“I’ll leave for now. I might visit you in the future, alright?” As that feeling went away, Elena looked up and said those words before turning around to leave. She has had enough of the humans for now. Dred stopped right beside her. Seeing Jake nod, she sat on Dred’s back and then looked at Audrey with her brows raised.

“What will you do? Do you want to come with me or stay with the humans? But in case you come with me, something will happen to you. I’m not sure if you will like it…” Hearing Elena’s words, Audrey frowned.

“What do you mean?” Raising a brow, she questioned Elena.

“Haha~ I won’t tell you,” laughing, Elena didn’t tell her what were her thoughts. Sighing, Audrey muttered, “You and your stupid mysteries…”

Still, Audrey reached out towards Elena, asking for her hand. Grabbing it, she pulled her up onto Dred’s back. “Just to be clear, this is my place and he won’t allow you up all the time…” Elena said silently, while Dred roared unhappily. He too liked Audrey, but he was private for Elena’s use. He was unhappy enough that he had to take away Audrey a few times.

Elena didn’t like luggage and she wouldn’t have asked Audrey to come with her if not for having a solution.

“Y-You are leaving!?” Jake shouted with wide opened eyes, feeling surprised. Audrey would be a great loss on their side, but on the other hand, as long as the monsters didn’t attack them, he didn’t need her. They didn’t have food problems anymore, so they could leave peacefully.

Nodding, Audrey answered, “Yes. I’m sorry and I thank you for helping me at that time. I really do. If you need my help, just shoot that flashlight - we found - up into the air and I’ll try to help you.”

“That’s really sad… but fine,” looking down, he said with a defeated voice. Looking at Elena, he added, ”I hope that you will appreciate my efforts in the future. I was ready to fight a battle just to keep you alive.”

“Haha, don’t worry. I’m a generous person! I think…” Realizing that she didn’t know how she felt about it, she muttered the last words. Not hearing it, Jake took it granted.

At this time, Triston jumped up to the walls, shouting, “WAIT! How will you teach me how to… you know… find a girlf-...” He didn’t dare to continue his shouting, fearing that others would hear it; not knowing that everyone understood it from that last word, even if cut in half.

Raising a brow, Elena turned around, saying. “Well, you can always practice on the girls in Jake’s territory and learn to be gentle. Also, always agree with women! But I’ll visit you later anyway, get by until then.” Not saying more, she petted Dred’s shoulders, prompting him to leave.

With a force, greater than before, he rushed forward, leaving nothing but a black cloud in his wake. Looking at the spot they were at a moment ago, Jake had mixed feelings. The troublemaker was gone, they didn’t have food problems anymore. As long as everyone worked hard, it was only a matter of time before humanity would rise once again to the apex of this planet.

Yet now it felt a little empty. A whole community died tonight and two ‘elite’ humans left him in the past days. Turning around, he looked at those who remained. Sighing and shaking his head, he put his hands on his hips. “Let’s go back… A new day shall rise on our little territory. Let’s build something great, something better than the other humans!”

With a newfound courage and enthusiasm, he shouted as he went towards the school.

----

In the dark night, Dred was rushing with the speed of a car on the empty roads. The monsters they found were killed with a few attacks of Audrey and Elena. Allowing the notifications, Elena noticed that she leveled up to the twenty-fifth level, while Audrey reached the thirty-second level.

Audrey gained quite a lot of strength, agility, and vitality as she had to rely on those. Meanwhile, Elena had three hundred and forty-six Wisdom. Her Devour skill reached the fifth level, while her ShadowStep reached the fourth level. Their Elemental Magic also advanced to the thirtieth level.

They couldn’t go past those levels because none of the humans had more knowledge about the elements. They knew the theory behind them but they didn’t know how to control them. This meant that the theory behind an element took up thirty percent while the experience, control, and handling took up seventy.

Except for the dark element, now she knew how did the elements connect to the world, how were they created, how were they built up. The Dark Element was something unknown to humans as well since they never made contact with ‘The Dark Matter’ in space. Luckily for Elena, her ancestors stored memories of it, so she knew what it was.

Audrey was hugging Elena from behind around her waist, with her chin on her shoulder. Feeling the wind blowing on her face, she smiled while asking, “Elena. Where are we going? This is the end of the city. Don’t tell me that you want to enter the forest!” Seeing that she didn’t stop, she turned slightly afraid.

“Haha, we are going to enter it. But it’s not as bad as you humans think it to be. Just stay silent if possible,” she replied as such with a smile on her face.

“Okay,” trusting her, Audrey answered and then stayed silent. Dred sniffed the air and felt the smell of the dead. A rotten smell spread through the air, making Audrey frown and hold her nose in disgust.

“Don’t whine. It’s just bad smell…” Not caring about it, Elena remarked on Audrey’s behavior. Although unwillingly, she still let go of her nose and a few tears left the corners of her eyes upon feeling that smell. Elena used her Sense to feel her surroundings and not so surprisingly, she found a presence. There was a graveyard nearby, on the outskirts of the forest.

Stopping, Elena talked silently while looking at Audrey, “We have caught an interesting human. Do you want to see the dark side of your kind?” Ridiculing her race, Elena pointed towards the graveyard.

Audrey’s eyes were quite average, so she didn’t see shit at first. But after a green light shone, she was able to see what was going on. A human was digging up the graves and pouring her Mana into the corpses. She was a blonde bombshell, but her soul was visibly not as bright as her looks… Dred sneaked towards her back, with Elena still on it. Audrey had to step back and watch.

She reached behind her back and pulled out her daggers from under her clothes. Coating it in black shadow, the dagger was made completely invisible. Holding their breath, Dred jumped forward without even the slightest bit of sound leaving their mouths.

Unexpectedly, the girl leaned forward almost evading her attack accidentally. Reacting quickly, Elena jumped off of Dred’s back and cut across the throat of the girl. Her blood sprayed on Elena’s hands before she turned into her Shadow Form.

The girl caught her throat with widely opened eyes, trying to breathe. Smirking, Elena thrust her daggers through her eyes, straight into the girl’s brain. Devouring her body, other than the stat points, she and Dred also gained knowledge of an interesting art, called Necromancy.

New Skill Acquired: Necromancy!

She looked at Dred with her brows raised, saying, “What do you think? I’m not that much for necromancy, but it is an interesting kind of Magic. We just have to control the skeletons with Mana threads or place a consciousness into them… The latter isn’t something I can do at the moment, but this might come in handy in the near future.”

“Ah, yuck… I stepped into it,” accidentally stepping into the body of a slimy skeleton, Audrey cried out in disgust.

“Haha, you will get used to it,” laughing at her, Elena remarked, earning a frown from Audrey.

“Eh? What do you mean by ‘get used to it’? Even if you control them, I won’t have to step on them, will I?” Audrey asked with a surprised face. Hearing her words, Elena laughed at her question, telling her that she wouldn’t have to.

“Let’s try this out for now…” Mumbling to herself, Elena connected a thread of her Mana to a skeleton in front of her. Sending her intentions to it, the skeleton slowly raised from the ground, almost falling.

“You are such a loser, aren’t you?” Stopping in front of it, observing its skull, she said while holding her chin. Let’s see what happens if I pour more Mana into you, she thought. Meat started appearing on its body, while Elena’s level of understanding for Necromancy also increased.

Willing it, the corpse made a punching move, resulting in the explosion of the air. She was surprised to see such a scene. Audrey copied Elena’s movements, learning Necromancy in but a moment. After playing a bit with the corpse, she pointed out. “I think that it’s so strong because of our Mana. It works similarly to body enchantment, but it probably takes more Mana as we have to make its body move.”

Nodding, Elena agreed with her, “Yes, from what I learned from this girl, I have to pour my Mana into every muscle in its body through the thread to control it. It is likely that it also enhances its muscles, resulting in greater strength. So… actually, as long as we know body enchantment, we know Necromancy as well?” Realizing that fact, Elena gained a slight enlightenment, resulting in even more Wisdom.

“Ah… this makes me remember. I should have learned body enchantment long ago. I’m so stupid,” Elena said, cutting off her Mana from the corpse. Its meat still stayed on its bones, but it fell to the ground lifelessly, like a toy.

Controlling her Mana, she increased the Mana capacity in her muscles, resulting in her body turning tougher and stronger. But it came with a price. Overloading her muscles tired them out quicker. That was how Body Enchantment worked. She could gain more strength and defense for a set amount of time, but she would also turn weaker afterward.

There were very few things in the world without any drawbacks. Her Devour skill was one such thing. As she stopped supplying her body with Mana, she felt a slight stinging in her muscles, but it disappeared in just two seconds. I’ll test how Mana works in the future. It’s so much fun! But… I’ll have to deal with Audrey at first. Let’s see how will she react. Hehe…

Conspiring in her mind, she planned out everything. Stopping right beside Dred, he bit the center of her palm, trying to be as gentle as possible, while thinking. Why can’t you wound yourself? I hate hurting you…

Cleaning her hand with Water Magic, she walked with her hand behind her back towards Audrey. Her blood was spilling on the ground, making it turn dry and the grass wither. Smiling, she asked Audrey, “Do you trust me?”

“Haha, I can’t say that I would do it in any case, but I do,” she replied with a laugh.

“Then open your mouth and close your eyes,” Elena answered, still smiling. Although Audrey felt creeped out, she still did as told.

At that moment, Elena put her bleeding palm over her opened mouth and made it flow into it. Feeling her mouth being filled up by something hot and irony, she opened her eyes, surprised. Quickly stepping back, she accidentally gulped it down. “W-What the… hell?” She said as her voice weakened, before falling to the ground and losing consciousness.

“What will become of you? My first friend, aren’t you?” Elena mumbled silently as she raised her up from the ground and then sat on Dred’s back. With Audrey in her arms, she felt Audrey’s body going through a mutation. She was changing and evolving. With a bittersweet taste in her mouth, Elena mumbled, “This is shameful… she is going through a true evolution earlier than me…”

Finding a small cave in the mountainous area, she used Earth Magic to create a thin layer of ground. Using Nature Magic, she grew soft and lush moss in the soil. She laid down Audrey on it and then sat beside her, with Dred on her left. With her left hand, she caressed Dred’s head, while with her right hand, she caressed Audrey’s hair.

Looking down, she saw that Audrey’s hands turned completely black. If not looked at it carefully, they looked like black gloves. Ancient looking tattoos appeared in a circle on her upper arms. A few of them also appeared on her neck, which slowly crept down towards her back. Turning over her body, the texts formed the shape of black wings.

Turning Audrey on her back once again, Elena touched Audrey’s lips and pulled them apart. Her canine teeth turned slightly longer. Not like a vampire… just a few millimeters. A tint of green appeared in her gray eyes, making Audrey’s eyes look unique. Feeling curious, she pulled up Audrey’s tank top, leaving her upper body stark naked.

“Your tits are as big as usual...“ She mumbled to herself as she touched Audrey’s body. Her muscle structure was also reconstructed. Audrey’s tummy stiffened up and layers of muscles appeared. As her evolution finished, she looked like a hot, fit, young girl. Nothing overly muscular… just fit lines covered her body, similar to Elena’s.

Audrey’s red hair stayed the same, except for a few locks of black hair. Two thin black lines appeared on Audrey’s navel, reaching towards her crotch, accentuating her hips. “God damn, you turn sexier by the day. Am I going to lose to my familiar?”

At that time, Dred sat up and nudged Elena’s back with his nose, purring. “Haha, okay, okay. I know that I’m the most beautiful for you. But look at her and tell me if she isn’t a sexy girl…” Pointing at Audrey’s body, she said. Dred nodded his head and then laid back down on the ground, enjoying Elena’s fingers.

Elena and Dred started meditating to regain their lost Mana and to consolidate their evolution. Meditation could replace sleeping as it refreshed the Mind and the Body.

“M-Mhhm~” The next day, Audrey groaned, but her tone was visibly happy. She behaved like someone who was waking up to a beautiful morning. Rolling on her side, she hugged Elena’s waist, still not realizing her position. Knocking on her head, Audrey opened her eyes with a feeling of displeasure in her mouth. “Hey! What are you doing? This was such a beautiful morning?”

Knocking once again, Elena replied, “You sleepyhead. Do you remember what did I do to you last night?”

After making a thoughtful face, Audrey sprung up from the ground and felt surprised to see how light her body felt. Her physical attributes rose to the skies compared to before. Looking at her completely black hands, she made a surprised face. “What is going on? Was that your blood?” Unconsciously wiping the sides of her mouth, Audrey sat up and grabbed Elena’s shoulders, questioning her.

“Now stay silent and listen to me. This is important to you. I turned you into my blood servant, but I will call you a familiar as I don’t wish to abuse my authority. Once you drink the blood of my kind, you will go through incredible evolutions, gain new abilities, turn super-duper powerful… But everything has a downside.”

“On one hand, you aren’t a human anymore. Once you look at your race, you’ll see it. On the other hand, you can’t disobey or betray me. I could also command you to do almost anything, though I won’t do such things. Cruel, right? I know that I didn’t ask you about it, but I didn’t want to hear a ‘no’.”

Audrey leaned slightly backward, with her mouth opened widely. Slightly stuttering, she said, “W-What the f-fuck!?”

Sighing loudly, Elena continued, “Don’t go retard on me. I know that you understood my words… I told you that if you come with me, you probably won’t like what was going to happen to you. Now, it’s here. You won’t turn into a burden on me and I can also completely trust you. Although you don’t have a proof, believe me… you were never in need of it. I’m not a human. You can take my words granted.”

“N-No-” Audrey started, but Elena cut into her words. “I understand that you aren’t happy about it. No one would want to turn into a servant unwillingly, but it also has its perks-”

Audrey raised up her hands and put them over Elena’s mouth, saying, “Wait! I was trying to say that this isn’t bad… I would never accept this position if not for knowing you. I know that this is really ridiculous as we ‘barely met’ if looked at it from outsiders’ perspective. But I just know it… I know that you are similar to me and that I can trust you.” Grabbing her own clothes, Audrey continued.

“Not even I understand this. You are just… tugging on my heart, making me move towards you. I find your presence really… pleasant! I think,” realizing her own feelings, she replied.

“Oh, that? It’s my racial trait. Those who were touched by my shadow will think about me more often. This will result in two choices. The person in question will start hating me more and more or will start liking me more and more. Neutral is very rare… I’m sorry, but you were affected by me. At that time when you took me in, you might have made your biggest mistake. Haha,” jokingly, Elena finished her explanation.

Shaking her head sideways, Audrey answered. “No. I don’t mind my decision at that time. Although I’ll never be looked at as a human anymore, I didn’t belong to them anyway. I know that many people had much darker past than me, but that thing in my past scarred my heart. I couldn’t look at the other people like before anymore. Well… this was mostly true to males only, but still… At least, now I have a place where I belong. Even if that is a one person army.”

“Two,” Elena corrected while pointing at Dred, who was ignored once again. That was the downside of the Stealth specialization…

“Right, right. Let me look at my notifications,” she said waving her head.

New Skill Acquired: Minor Devour!

New Skill Acquired: Shadow Form!

New Class Unlocked!

Arcane Mage! (Epic)

Blade Binder! (Epic)

This class is proficient at using shadows and many different kinds of unique Magic. Any kind of spell is learnable, except for racial skills/spells. This class has powerful escaping abilities. Increases your Wisdom and Mana by ten percent.

This class is proficient at using light melee weapons. Using the shadows around them, they can blow deadly strikes to their enemies. This is the kind of enemy you wish to evade in your life. Increases Strength and Agility by ten percent.

Thanks to being her ‘master’, Elena could look at Audrey’s tables at any time. “Nice! Shall we start training your body? Don’t think that you will slack off, even if you turn into a Mage!” Very much to Audrey’s displeasure, Elena said such words.

“You can’t be serious!? I have to select one of them at first! Also… now I finally understand how your Devour works!” Audrey said proudly while sticking out her chest.

“No, you don’t…” Elena ridiculed her, chuckling. Audrey’s devour wasn’t ‘Minor’ for nothing. To use Devour, she needed perfect connection with the shadows, which helped in transferring the best genetics of the devoured prey. Without that connection, she couldn’t use its full potential, unlike Elena and Dred, who were the rulers of the shadows.

Making a thoughtful face, Audrey slumped her shoulders, saying with a sigh. “Haah- Honestly, I don’t know what to choose. Need more Will or what? What do you even need? A supporter or a shady right hand? But… training my mind and meditating would be easier…”

“No, you are terribly wrong. It’s not as easy as you think it to be. The further you go, the less the difference becomes between Mages and Warriors as they too will learn more and more. Unless your understanding goes beyond the norm, you will quickly find yourself useless. It’s best to stay balanced and focus on both your body and mind. Which of the two will be your main isn’t a problem.” Elena remarked upon hearing Audrey’s words.

“Is it like that?” She questioned, surprised. Elena nodded as an answer and then stayed silent, waiting for Audrey’s decision.

“W-Why don’t you help? Do you know more about these classes?” Audrey questioned Elena with a small stutter, feeling crushed under the weight of these two classes.

“Now… really. These are epic classes. Both of them are great. Think about the style that would fit you more and then decide,” Elena said while sighing loudly. Although these classes gave more bonus to the stats than hers, the effects Elena’s class provided were much greater than simple stats.

Audrey grabbed the sides of her head and shouted. “AARGH! I’ll… I’ll choose… Arcane Mage! I have got used to being a Mage already. It would be weird to switch styles now. But I swear that I’ll work hard on my body as well, okay?” Grabbing Elena’s arms, Audrey asked with upturned eyes.

Finally noticing it, she made a surprised face. “Wait… what’s going on? You grew again?” Elena was a hundred and seventy centimeters tall. Like an average woman. Although Audrey wasn’t smaller, slightly bending her knees, she could look upwards at Elena. Her hair was still the same, but her face turned even more beautiful and her chest has grown largely… She looked to be around sixteen or maybe seventeen by now. Her cherry lips could cause men to have wet nights.

Both of them turned into real beauties. Dred felt truly happy that he was a monster, as a guy would struggle to stay sane and in control of himself beside these two…

Nodding, Elena replied, “I did. Took you long enough to notice… quickly, let’s see what are your specializations!” Feeling excited to find out, she urged Audrey. Thinking of the word specialization, it appeared in front of Audrey.

“God damn it… Dark Arts are surely needless. I have you here - ‘Master’ - hehe…” Audrey laughed, instantly deciding on what not to select. Putting her hand on her chin, she continued bickering with herself in her mind. Caster looked really great as speed and the ability to interrupt others would be wonderful. But at the same time, Mystic was similarly interesting and she also liked thinking about how did Mana work. Finding out about new elements wouldn’t be bad either.

After thinking of the answer, she also shared her decision with Elena. “I chose Mystic. Maybe I can learn about elements which weren’t a part of even the fictions I have read! Oh, by the way, I’ve got a title as well.”

Not feeling surprised, Elena asked what was it, which to Audrey replied proudly. “It’s called Blood Servant. It says that I turned into the blood servant of a legendary being, gaining great benefits. And I can’t disobey your commands or turn against you, which sounds really bad…”

“I told you to not to worry about it. I won’t make you do anything weird or suicidal,” Elena quickly replied with her hands raised, shaking them.

“I know, I was just teasing you. Now, let’s see our stats! You have no idea how much I have gained this time!” Audrey exclaimed proudly.

“I do know… I was the one who did it. You are probably more than twice as strong as before since your potential and bloodline was way too weak. At least, now you will be able to follow me. Work hard to hold your advantage for as long as you can,” Elena replied and then opened their tables.

“Those are some nice stats!” Elena said with a smile while looking at the flabbergasted Audrey.

“N-Nice stats? YOU MONSTER! How the hell did you gain so much strength?” Audrey shouted upon seeing the results.

“Well… those humans served me a lot. Now I know everything I have to about the elements. But hey, thanks to my blood, you also went past the threshold and thanks to your control, you went even beyond it!” Elena soothed Audrey’s mind, adding. “And my strength increased a lot because my body grew. It is natural…”

“Fine… So? Do I have to train my body now? Master~” Audrey questioned Elena, with a smirk on her face.

Holding her forehead, she replied, “Oh, please… stop calling me master or I’ll blush…”

“Now obey your blood cuz’ I’ll make you work your fat ass, you little, mixed monster!” Slapping on Audrey’s butt, Elena shouted.
