Chapter 10: Foreign Agents Arrival.

Alan awoke after having the shock of a lifetime. He shot in out of his bed remembering twisting and snapping her bones, the feeling of tendons pinging off the bones, the blood rushing out to stop only to be pushed out of her like winepress spraying him and the room.

Looking at his clean hands he saw them covered in crimson blood, his stomach gurgled and cramped just thinking about it. He had entered the room, and she was begging him to hurt her. He'd looked into her and saw her regeneration was healing a healthy body overhealing as her bones were thickening, blood was flooding her body, the pressure was skyrocketing throughout her body.

She had been in a lot of pain. While Alan had been tossing back and forth, he'd been thinking. A bit too much and had put some logic behind Elvira. Alan thought about Michael and how his powers seem to work if he has to design these lifeforms maybe they require a certain amount of test and improvement. Hence, perhaps somewhere out there, there was a version one vampire that had regeneration but the being suffered and eventually died, or is just in a constant state of pain.

If Michael then tried improving them, he might have come up with some contingency like a reminder, the psychology of receiving pain as a reward which would require him to reward her with more pain, which would solve the over regeneration problem and the eventual death of the subject.

Pretty dark in Alan's opinion, but that also raised the question of how long did it take to get to Elvira and has he continued improving the vampire design so that they won't over regenerate?

He couldn't believe it, mind it was hard to believe anything he could do things no one else could, and others could do just as amazing things. It made him wonder why they were getting these powers. Dr Gareth was only hoping to evolve the average human into a psychic human-like Ashley. It didn't happen like that he hadn't asked why.

Maybe he should've, and it made him wonder about the Dr Hew experiment and how it affected people. He asked that like the atomic bomb it affected the world like it's own radiation that could've changed the virus Dr Gareth was designing.

He could only ponder for so long lay lazily in his bed when the mic went off, and the voice of Darl came over it, "Good morning Alan, we just got a message that the Commander wants you to meet him on the roof to welcome the foreign researchers."

Groaning, Alan sat up and replied, "Yeah, after breakfast, I'll go!"

"You'd best hurry up the first helicopter will be coming in 10:30 you've half an hour."

Getting up and dressed Alan leisurely walked to the canteen and got his assigned food, and in quite the relaxed mood he ate dumpily watching the TV like a drone getting a tap on the shoulder as he was soon meeting.

He got up, and he'd to lift to head up for the first time to the fiftieth floor and the roof, getting into it as they headed up passing his floor. Almost immediately his mind ached, and he could hear screeching the further they went up the more formidable, Alan's head hurt as they reached the 40th floor he had to clutch his head with his hand the sound mind-numbing. Darl asked, "Everything ok, Alan?"

Just as he was about to compile about it the pain and screaming passed, "Yeah, just got a painful headache, but it's faded now."

Darl nodded, writing some notes and said, "Will get you a brain scan to check for any anomalies."

Alan nodded and rubbed his temples, waiting for the lift to reach the fiftieth floor. Stepping on to the covered roof, He stepped out the wind was considerably, and he took a step to battle against the shock after adjusting he continued on the observation deck where he saw the commander and several other people. Except for the commander they were all wearing suits, there were three men, and one was a greying man. The other two were a bit younger, and then there were five women of various ages. Still, the most unusual was a very young woman who was so stiff that she wondered how she would walk up the stairs.

Darl and John had left without him realising so when the group looked at him most with a bit of revelation in their eyes. He couldn't blame them; he was standing in jeans and an unironed T-shirt.

He saw the suits left for him, but he wasn't about to wear one, for these people hell they're going to use him for experiments they're most like going to see him in various states of undress he'd thought it best to make a more personal aesthetic.

The youngest women certainly didn't like his appearance. Still, at least the other men didn't care as the old greying man walked over, offering his hand to thank him in a squeak nervous voice. "Hello I'm Harvey, and I've assigned to help deal with any foreign frictions and problem that may arise, but I'd like to thank you for joining us we're most grateful for your cooperation."

Alan shrugged, "You're paying for it so it's the least I can do is put in an appearance."

The man smiled, "Yes I've heard!" giving a quick look to the commander who was staring out toward the fleet of warships that had appeared overnight.

Two of the suited women stepped forward, offering their hands, as Harvey introduced them as his aids and named them Ivy and Judy. They were shaking their hand, finding them a little wimpy which annoyed him, definitely after the firm handshake of Harveys.

It didn't make a first good impression, but then he looked at the three other women and two men and wondered how they were, and it wasn't until Harvey mentioned them as few supers they were hoping to show a good impression of cooperation.

Well now Alan was questioning his choice of dress, but there wasn't anything he could do and was going to since it would show him up as a fool.

Shrugging and walking up to them, the overbearing oppressive middle-aged man smiled and shook his hand nearly taking his it off. "I'm George pleasure to meet another super, I these other super don't seem to be the most proactive individuals you're the first to introduce themselves to me."

"Yeah, well you're quite the intimidating person try smile i…. Oh no, don't that, forget I ever said anything." The man gave a hearty laugh, his meaty hand patting him onto the floor, "Yeah you're quite the brave one, no ones talked to me so impudently since I was a young mobster."

Alan's eyebrows rose, and he thought, "Why is there a former gangster on the roof to meet the foreign dignitaries? I'll assume, his done his time."

After managing to peel himself away from George without insulting him, he moved through the rest of the group. Until he got to the last right uptight girl how merely turned up her nose to his hand and said, "Who are you to come up here so unpresentable, At least make an effort not to embarrass our country why don't you go down get dressed and return looking a little less like a hobo?"

Alan dropped the hand and smiled at the forwardness, "It's ok I don't care what other countries think about me, and if my country is embarrassed about me being underdressed, then there is a problem with the country I live in. We must be lacking in strength and confidence."

Alan could see Harvey gulp, "Ahah, we certainly are not in a position of strength." Alan thought.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

"If we lack in strength, then it's better to look stronger, and if I don't give a shit about their opinion and they still need me, it puts me in a stronger position, since they'll have to put up with it and it'll distract them not me. Of course, you can bend the knee, beg and hope that they won't take anything from you, but then you're a fool."

She looked a bit confused even the others, apart from the commander who stood there in his overall. Harvey understood both sides of the warning.

She didn't give him a name. I moved on to the commander, who nodded and I stood beside him, trying to see if they were on their way.

He thought he could see the movement of a helicopter lifting off from one of the warships Alan couldn't tell what country it belonged to so they'd only find out when they landed on the roof.

He waited patiently, even as he was glared at by the last girl he saw his waves being produced off of her.

He liked military books as a young man, the whole looking strong when weak and when strong look weak. A lot of it was him completely bullshiting it as it was he just hoped he was mostly right. They wouldn't care, and since he was important, they'd do what they could to carry his favour which would be hard, since he wouldn't be interested in the first place.

Since they could try and buy someone while they were here, since there was nothing against the rules, and they could still leave if anyone wanted too.

He wondered how many people would leave if the offer was big enough, was this woman interested in suggestions and that was why she'd dressed and was so stuck up. Maybe she thought that he was ruining her chances of a better offer, even though he shouldn't have anything to do with how other people see her.

Alan shook his head it didn't matter, he was glad they were there; he hadn't interacted with any of the other supers since Alan had arrived, at least he wouldn't have to put up with the foreign researchers alone.

He could hear the blades rotating now the wind getting displaced into his face, but as they came into land Alan could see inside and knew it was American agents inside, how'd he know that there was the flag on the side of the Helicopter.

Stepping out were a bunch of lab-coated grey people, and two commander types standing calmly. They were looking about assessing the area before moving closer to the commander where smiles formed on their faces greeting each other to two military officers shook the hand of Gareth, and they talked ignoring everyone else there.

Alan smiled even as the two suited individuals stepped off the Helicopter and greeted Harvey. Honestly, he was starting to wonder whether he needed to be here. They eventually introduced everyone, Gareth was the first to introduce Alan, and the American Officers nodded and offered their hands one of them saying, "So you're one that made the big splash that no one could ignore?"

Alan smiled taking the Officer firmly and replied, "Yes I most certainly didn't quite know what I was doing back then, but I've since gotten a better grasp on my power and as long and nothing annoys me no one should have anything to fear."

"Good to hear, considering the people you're going to be engaging with over a long time." Commander Boris smiled gesturing to the excitable scientist who was already trying to get as much juice out of the other supers.

Alan smiled as George was backing off from the scientists and even the stuck up girl was moving back slightly, trying in vain to make some space.

Thankfully it seemed that the scientist even got the chance since the diploma came in to shake his and thank him for the opportunity and hoped they could all work well together.

Alan agreed and nodded with him, confused and having no idea what to do with the attention.

Thankfully they were all moved on as the Helicopter moved off and another one took its place. More scientists, diplomas, military men came through shaking hands and talking about cooperation as if the UK had an option to do so. Alan had no idea how many hands he'd shook. Still, hundreds of people had moved through this roof from South Africa, Ethiopia to the new Democratic Republic of Venezuela and France.

Things didn't get tense until the Chinese arrival, the unofficial victors of the Remote wars. It had thankfully ended in a stalemate, but China had crippled most countries they'd gone against if the Russian hadn't betrayed them as they feared that China might go after their incredible material resources. Of course, they were interested, but with everything else on their plates, they overstretched themselves, and the new regiment was an egocentric government that could stop itself when it lost some face.

And even getting attacked on several sides hadn't defeated them but they'd been stopped and repelled and then asked for a treaty which everyone took and the Remote War ended.

Territories changed some countries gone they were a force to be reckoned with even he could remember as a child sitting bunkers as the room shook as bombs landing on his home. It was one of the few things he could remember from a young age.

He'd hoped that they'd be friendly and gracious, but they came at necessarily high speed and low altitude that Alan commented whether that was necessary? Boris grunted, "Not at all necessary they are just trying to push boundaries, and possibly trying to get a reaction out of the city."

"Commander, do you think we should push back a little?" Alan asked of the commander.

He shrugged, "Yeah sure but don't know how we could … oh?"

Alan had stepped off the building as he heard Gareth's reply and flew the other looked at Boris concerned when one of the other super said, "Aren't you concerned he's going to make things worse."

Boris watched Alan fly off before calm replying but was quite amazed by Alan's attitude and perhaps his sanity. "Not much I could do about it even if I was, they'll most likely not say anything since military people don't like being outgunned and Alan is that by a country mile."

Boris turned to them, "You should perhaps try to be a bit more like him. You're not just weak squishy humans anymore your value has skyrocketed. So don't let human norms hold you down because we'll try to drag you down regardless of use and kindness simply because we fear you as much as we can use you, Alan picks the independent path not as if anyone can hold him down. Thankfully he is a caring lad, and I would trust him over you lot."

Boris finished thinking turned to Alan's parents stuck in the basement, he knew Alan was purely staying for them and so long as nobody jeopardised that we've got nothing to fear. After burning the report of their existence, only two people knew himself and his second.

Alan had reached the low flying aircraft, and once it was within his influence, he stopped it dead and knocked on the window glass. When one of the slips open and a bunch of Chinese flew out of it, he replied, "Sorry about the spotting but it looked as if you were having machines troubles keeping up in the air, so I came to assist! Just hold on, and you'll be fine. I'll drop you off in a second."

Alan flew back up, dragging the Helicopter behind him up to a regular altitude where he placed the Helicopter not too gentle on the rooftop, landing himself he walked over to Boris and stood there looking innocent.

Alan wanted to listen in to the conversation, not that it helped him any but he could at least watch, He saw that there were scientists in the Helicopter the five of then were animatedly talking to each other about what had happened. The two Officer were otherwise talking in a hushed tone with another two people one was a woman and the other older gentleman deciding what to do. I wasn't until all three of them turned to the young women and chose something that involved her in some way. Even the third women lend forward to adamantly discuss something until the two women got some harsh words from the older gentlemen that got them silent.

Alan decided it was best to mention something, "Hey Boris they're up to something the two women seem not to like whatever ideas they've come up with and have stopped arguing when they got shouted at."

Boris showed something Alan hadn't seen before, and his eyebrows rose. He took a side glance at Alan, "You've been listening in?"

Nodding and Alan replied, "Every time, the thing is I can't understand the languages that they speak, but body language is pretty universal, few people can control their heartbeat."

Boris snorted, "You'd better not tell anyone else that, but it sounds like some honey trap or stealth operation. Although it sounds like the women weren't specially trained for honey trapping or covert operation; otherwise, they'd not be arguing back. No, you'd have to be someone privileged to argue back to a high ranking officer and diplomat."

"So what do you think?"

Boris gave it some thought but as the door to the Helicopter opened that they all started stepping out and Boris managed to see the two young women his mouth dropped open. "Holy fuck!"

Recovering quickly enough to say to Alan, "Those are two daughters of the Chinese leader they're power playing, they're hoping to rise above their station and into godhood. I'd bet they'd want first access to answers and the most powerful supers we have through any means and having them in the family would only legitimise their power."

Boris whispered as the Chinese delegation stepped down off the air pad, "Watch yourself, Alan, you might just be honey potted by them."

As Boris stepped away, all Alan could think about was what the hell was honey potting?
