Ch.25 Once Unsung

Feeling refreshed I awoke to the sound of crickets chirping before sunrise. I quietly left our tent without waking Emma. We currently were living together but had separate beds. It wasn't like we hadn't lived together before and sharing a dwelling even at the beginning of a relationship was not abnormal for elves. We were currently not having certain relations as I felt our bodies were still too young. I know both of us have lived long lives before, but it felt wrong. In this world, it would be acceptable for humans to marry around thirteen years of age but in our old world morality called for both individuals to be over eighteen to not be judged by society. I know that a fifteen-year-old could marry someone older with parents permission or the Romeo and Juliet clause, but people still judge.

People in love usually don't care what others think, and that should be the right answer. I still wanted to have the 100% moral high ground though. Fact is no matter what anyone does someone is bound to be upset or offended at some point, whether there is harm intended or not. Perhaps I'm too cautious, but with such a vast lifespan I think I can afford to take it slow.

Recently, I've had a hard time getting around the village without being followed or bothered by others. Since I defeated the slavers, I had become a hero in their eyes, and they ended up putting together that I was the one in the prophecy. My dad seemed a quiet badass all the time but was quite loose-lipped. He spilled the beans to one elf from Luna's original village while drunkenly celebrating. I remember quite vividly my mother dragging him into their tent by his long ear. The yelling could be heard easily but was spoken so fast I couldn't catch most of what was said. I do know there were some words that are inappropriate for children so I won't say them here. I now know the prophecy, and it was disturbingly accurate.

The Prophesy went like this:

Do not be afraid children of our race being destroyed. A new King will arise from the ashes of the fallen. He shall have the true magic our ancestors wished to bestow us. His Goldeyes and powers shall tell us of his arrival.

His awakening in our world shall bear fruit in the form bringing back the green elves once lost. He shall be another father to their race and create the first mother.

He shall wield death in each hand and will find That which was lost. That which was stolen shall be reclaimed. The Threshold of Worlds shall choose him as its master.

The new Kings anger shall burn brighter than all the stars in the sky and yet colder than a frost dragons breath. Those who have wronged his people shall tremble in fear as their wicked Gods will be unable to save them from his wrath.

He will know his destiny by remembering his birth in another world. He will be a mortal human reborn as a pureblood elf from a place called Michigan in a Kingdom called the United States.

As a result of revealing my Identity most of the green elves were now calling me "The Father" reverently. I also got a damn pop up from the system I didn't like it because now Emma wasn't the only one with the hero title.

New Title and trait earned "The Once Unsung Hero."

Your actions in this and your last life have proven you a hero twice fold. After your death when others spat on your name and memory one person stood against them. Your son proved who you were bringing attention to those who made false claims against you. Through corruption, all the written work you had done was destroyed, but after great trials, those responsible were punished. Now that your son has written a book containing your wise sayings, many have been inspired by you. The number of people whose lives will be saved or changed by your charity is beyond counting. Many religions have declared you a saint!

I fell to my knees after I read the pop-up. Then I did the Darth Vader after Padme's death "nooo!!!"

Emma laughed and guessed "You got the hero title didn't you?"

I replied with a reluctant "yes."

I was depressed for a few days, but with a sense of urgency, I got back to work as usual. You know the worlds not going to fix itself! Well, it's not the world but the people who need fixing but whatever. This morning Thanks to Zotherg and with help from some elementals he contacted we found out about several dungeons nearby. One low-level dungeon contains skeletons nearby could be used to train to level 100. One had high-level beasts inside, and the other Zotherg was unsure about. He said it was small, but the walls were extremely dense. It appeared to be a unique dungeon which would provide special rewards for those that cleared it the first time. Even at his level though he had no way to find out what was inside. It was a problem for another time because first, we needed to get to level 100 and pick a class.

For some reason even though my [Soul Analyze] can bypass much of the system's restrictions, it doesn't let me see a class at my current level. My dad had two classes, one was Duelist, and the other was Defender. Duelist provides bonuses to single combat and using two weapons. Defender as my father explained increases one's ability to protect those around them. A class he picked up out of necessity and not preference. Unfortunately, Duelist gave a negative 50% to guarding other people, so all it did was cancel out a negative and waste a class.

I met up with my dad, and he explained to me that "You can pick your first class at level 100 or get two subclasses. Full classes are way better, but a weak subclass can be gotten at level twenty or so. A human, for example, may choose to get a subclass as early as possible to survive long enough to get a full class later".

Informed on subclasses, I knew I would need to make a choice soon, but I had no idea what classes would be available to me. It was different for each individual and somewhat based on what magic, stats, abilities one had, etc. When the time came what would I have to choose?
