Floor 1 - Chapter 6

Ding!

I take a look at the notification screen.

Congradulations Dungeon Core #1000!

You have completed the basic framework of your defenses and dungeon!

Now you may truly call yourself a dungeon and not simply a hole in the ground!

+100 Exp +1 Summon Scroll: Dungeon Fairy

Do you want to use the Summon Scroll to summon a Dungeon Fairy to link with your Dungeon? Y/N

(Note: The Fairy you Summon is completely Random so their abilities may conflict with your Dungeon Type)

Ok that comment seems slightly uncalled for but I put that aside for now. I am currently more interested in this Dungeon Fairy thing. It exites me to possibly have someone to talk to and interact with besides the semi-responsive system screens. Finally I will be able to talk to someone about this world, my worries and ideas!

Ok calm down.

First off lets see what a Dungeon Fairy is before I start getting my hopes up.

Dungeon Fairy: A pecuilar species of the Fae Race and cousin to the Fairy Race, the Dungeon Fairy are sentient beings that have wings that allow them to fly, are very small in stature, highly intelligent, and gifted in mana. They can only survive and live off of Dungeon Mana but if they have access to it Dungeon Fairies can live for centuries or longer. Typically very skilled and knowledgeable in several elemental magics they often choose to bond and form beneficial partnerships with a dungeon. Through these partnerships the Dungeon Fairy imparts its knowledge of the world, magic, management, etc.... to help guide and develop their Dungeon which in turn provides a home and mana to the Fairy to survive and grow in strength. (Dungeon only info: The typical consumption of Mana for a Dungeon Fairy is [(Rank x 10) + level = Daily Mana consuption] be sure to pay even more care to your mana reserves. If a Dungeon Fairy does not have a dungeon to bond with when they enter adolescence, age 25, they usually either remain in their family's or clan's bonded dungeon or are forced into a state of deteriorating hybernation to conserve energy while being put on the waiting list until they are summoned by a dungeon. Due to these clan relationships a bonded dungeon may be brought into certain Fairy faction issues and vice versa with the Fairies and/or clans being brought into Dungeon Faction issues.)

Ok it seems that I can truly get excited for this Dungeon Fairy thing. Based off of the description I can definitely expect a conversation partner at the very minimum, not to mention I can learn at least a little about the world dpending on the knowledge and experiences of my companion.

I don't even care that much about the potential faction issues since as the first of this 1000 Series, as well as a Progneitor Dungeon, I am pretty much in my own faction already. Plus even if other dungeons want me to join their factions or already consider me on their side that will have to wait until I actually meet with some of them and gain enough strength to actually have a say. Right now factions and politics are the farthest thing from my mind.

Alright lets get this Summon Scroll thing going so I can see what type of person this Dungeon Fairy will be.

I bring up the Summon Scroll screen and-

Intruder Detected!

An alarm notification goes off!

I jolt from my previous state of excitement and anticipation and feel a foreign mana presence by the entrance of my dungeon. I quickly move my perception up to the entrance to see what it is.

When my sight reaches the surface the first thing I notice is the darkness. I realize that it must have become late into the evening or night while I was busy with the dungeon. The forest looks much darker and spooky now. Even with the little bits of light coming through the tree canopy from the stars or moon, along with the rare softly glowing plants, mushrooms, and fungus, it just adds to the mystique and ghostly atmosphere surrounding this part of the forest.

I catch some movement near 1 of the pillars by my stairway that pulls my focus away from staring out into the night.

I take a closer look and realize that it is a large agressive looking boar with a few small scratches on it's right side that are bleeding a tiny bit. It has medium sized tusks on either die of it's mouth, dark brown fur with silver white spiky needle like hair along the top of it's back, a pig snout, and short but muscled legs.

It appears that it recently got into a fight or accident due to the fact that it's wound is still bleeding slightly and left a faint blood trail on the grass leading up to the pillar. As I move my gaze from the blood trail back to the boar I see it rubbing the end of one tusk against one of the stone pillars before then head butting it, sniffing the air while darting it's gaze around before then switiching to the other tusk and repeating. All while making sniffing, snorting, grunting, and sometimes squealing noises.

I wonder if it is trying to sharpen or clean it's tusks?

I ask the system in my head if it could identify or scan the creature in any way so that I can get some information on it.

Acknowledged!

Due to target creature being within claimed Dungeon Territory appraisal of creature/s is possible.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Unless the creature/s are in your Dungeon's personal creature database only bare bones basic information will be displayed.

(Note: Personal Creature Databases are unique to each individual dungeon and the only ways to add to them are through template purchases via DP, trade between Dungeons, the willful asimilation of the creature/s, or Dungeon absorption,)

Do you wish to proceed with the Appraisal? Y/N

Do you want future Appraisals to be automatic? Y/N

I quickly think 'Yes' for both questions.

Suddenly their is some rustling noises in the distance. The boar hears it as well judging by how it suddenlly raised it's head and looked in the direction of the noise.

It's hard for me to make out at first but as they get closer I see in the distance behind some trees and bushes a group of disheveled/dirty grey wolves charging over. When they get in view of the boar it starts pawing at the ground, most likely to ready a charge.

I quickly will the system to Apraise the approaching Wolves to see what I am dealing with.

Target/s Outside the Territory!!

Out of Range!!!

Drat looks like I'll need them to get much closer and within my territory before I can get any info on them. Luckily their target appears to be the boar and it is almost directly smack dab in the middle of my territory without any signs of wanting to run or move as of yet. The wolves are continuing to run towards the boar and with each passing moment I can hear their pants, howls and growls louder and louder as they get closer.

The Silver-Spiked Boar continues to wait and paw the ground beside 1 of the pillars while staring at the approaching wolves and seems eager for them to approach closer to it. Due to the boars position the wolves are running in a slightly angled straight line towards the left wall of the stairs in my Dungeon entrance at a fast speed.

That's it! They've just entered within my territory and are approaching the boar. I hurriedly will the system to appraise them while trying to keep my eye on the conflict.

Information on current invaders x 5 is below:

Race: Beast Species: Grey Wolf Status: Hungry - Lightly Injuired Rank:1 Level: ??-?? Attribute: ??

Suddenly when the wolves finally entered within a few meters away from the boar it starts charging towards the leading wolf, and the 2 wolves right beside it in the middle of the charging pack, without any warning at full force. The wolves seemed to have somewhat expected this as they quickly adapted and tried to evade. The 2 wolves that were near the back sides were able to use their aditional breaths of time before collision to fan out on either side of the boar and slow down slightly. However the leading wolf as well as the 2 beside him were barely able to make any alternate movements.

At the last moment before impact 1 of the 2 wolves behind the lead wolf suddenly jumps up into the air in an attempt to go over his companions and the boar, slightly injuring his left side and left legs as the spike hairs on the boars back graze him as he goes over. The boar is undaunted and continues aiming it's charge and tusks straight for the wolf right in front of him while angling his body slightly towards the remaining wolf in the back. The boar smashes into the lead wolf as the wolf that jumped crash lands due to the pain in his legs and lack of balance upon impact with the ground. The momentum of the crash landing causes a slight concussion and dizziness while carrying the moderately injuired wolf into a body roll right into the Dungeon's stairway. Gravity takes care of the rest and pulls the wolf who keeps rolling and getting battered farther and farther down into the dungeon.

Back on the surface the collision of the boar and wolf coupled with the lead wolf's own momentum alongside the boar's own resulted in a devasting tackle that caused the lead wolf's neck and chest to be pierced clean into by the boar's tusks for an instant kill. I know this because when the wolf died I automatically started absorbing the dispersed mana resulting in the body slowly disappearing into motes of white light. This process feels like second nature to me and I don't even have to focus on it, I already know what to do.

Ding!

I hear and see the notification screen but I ignore it for now to focus on seeing this through to the end. I can always look at the information later when their are not any intruders in the dungeon.

As I look back at the beasts it seems that they are slightly taken aback and confused at the disappearing body of the lead wolf. However this does not last long for the 2 boar and wolf in front of each other as the charge, while definitely slowed down by the initial collision and suprise of the body disappearing, does not stop.

The boar quickly snaps out of it's daze and continues to run towards the wolf that was behind his first victim who simultanuesly is trying to claw at him while avoiding the sharp bloodied tusks. The tusk of the boar slashes the wolf's back leg while the wolf claws at the boar's side.

While this is happening the wolves that dodged the earlier charge make their move. They each come from behind the boar and attack opposite. One leaps and lunges at the boars back leg and thigh, digging their fangs and claws as deep as thay can into the muscles and flesh resulting in a small shower of blood spraying in the area. The other wolf tackles the boar straight in the center of it's body causing it to stumble off to the side.

With the wolf biting on his leg making it dificult to move and the boar more or less surrounded he tries to buck and shake the wolf off of him while simultaneously causing the other 2 wolves to back away in fear of a sudden impact from his legs or tusks. The sudden movements cause the grip of the wolf to lossen slightly which spurs the boar on to suddenly rush through and out of my territory in an attempt to fully shake the wolf off while trying to collide with as many trees, bushes, and other obstacles as possible on the side with the 'passenger'.

It is unclear if this succeeds as before the wolf falls off they have traveled a fair distance. However while the boar is charging into the forest of trees the other 2 wolves are not standing idle. They immediately give chase with drool leaking from their maws after giving a victorious howl of a hunt, no doubt thinking that the boar is trying to flee.

I watch them go into the distance before they are completely obscured by the woods around my dungeon.

Well......, that was certainly exciting. I am a bit disappointed that they didn't stay to finish their hunt here in my territory as I am sure I would have absorbed them the same way I did the lead wolf.

But oh well....

Now before I check that notification about the lead wolf's absorption lets see what is going on with that injuired wolf that fell into my Dungeon proper......
