Floor 1 - Chapter 2

Mmmmm..., but first how do I even start working on the dungeon....?

For now let's try thinking "Dungeon Status".

"Ding!"

Dungeon Status

.....Opening Welcome Package

Welcome New Dungeon Core!

As a budding Dungeon this is going to be your first interaction with the most useful and efficient tool for building up and managing your home, forces, and defenses. It is called the Dungeon Status Interface (or DSI, for short).

To start things off you first must find out what race of creatures you and your dungeon have an affinity for. To do this the DSI will, at your discretion, begin scanning your mana, soul, and mind/memories to determine the best possible matches among the existing database of creatures for your dungeon to choose to specialize in.

(Note: You may choose to refuse this scan but in that case your dungeon race specialization choices would be restricted to the standard base monsters such as Slimes, Goblins, Animals, Golems, Skeletons, etc...)

Do you wish to begin the scan? Y/N

(Warning: As this scan is very thorough their may be some slight discomfort and/or pain.)

I see, I see.... Now then lets think about this calmly. To be as strong as possible I obviously need a strong group of monsters to defend myself with since if invaders can easily beat them then I will be vulnerable. Even with traps and trickery their is a limit to how far these methods can go against the truly powerful unless they are complete idiots.

Even if I decide to take the scan it specifcally stated that I would be presented with 'matches' to choose from. So their will most likely be more than one option if I happen to not like the sound of a particular race. Besides that even if I don't want to choose any of the races selected by the scan I can probably fallback onto one of the base monsters as a last resort. However I would like to avoid that if at all possible because their must be a reason that they are called 'standard base monsters'. Supposing that I give these base monster races the benefit of the doubt and assume that they would have the same amount of potential for growth and power as any of the options that the scan might give me, it would still be a pretty big risk to take on any of them as my Dungeon's specialty. This is especially true given the fact that I only recognize Animals and Skeletons on the monster list while having no idea what the others mean. Granted if I focus on them I can probably figure it out with help from the System but given the average strength of animals from my memories and that they are classified together with the other races under the 'standard base monster' races I am not optimistic of their usefulness in defending me. Not to mention that their names and the way they were presented just don't give me an emotional or fearsome image.

I want a race that I can be excited about and have fun with! After all I hope to be alive and with them for a very long time to come.

I am a bit worried about that warning at the end of the Welcome Package but feel that the best option would be to get the scan and expand my options of monster choices so I may have a clear picture of what is best for me.

As such I bring up the box with the question again

Do you wish to begin the scan? Y/N

(Warning: As this scan is very thorough their may be some slight discomfort and/or pain.)

and after preparing myself as best as I can think 'Yes!'.

Acknowledged!!

.......Scan Complete!!

HAH... HAH..... Hah....... Hah........... Is it over?

I peek open my eyes to check the notification screens that have piled up.

Collectting Data.....

Thank goodness...... I sigh in relief.

My god was that painful!!! I glare at the box in front me of me as I think 'SLIGHT discomfot my foot!'.

If at all possible I would do everything in my power to AVOID similar experiences in the future.

Data Collected!

Generating Specialization Options!

Finally! Now lets see what I got.

Congrats Dungeon Core #1000!

Your Dungeon Type affinities are as follows from Lowest Affinity to Largest Affinity:

Animals: Large variety of low level mobs but requires a heavy investment in a particular element or specialization to get higher tiered evolutions. Strength varies....

Elementals: Limited evolutions and variations that are restricted by their element and environment but mid to high level mobs that are strong both individually and together as long as their elements do not conflict.....

..............

Fae (Monster Version): Typically are weak physically but strong magically. Mid-high level and high cost mobs. Strength varies widely depending on how their magic attributes interact with the environment and enemy attributes.

Poke-... Error! ....Error!! .....Error!!! Species not listed in database!

Foreign Species Detected!!

Error! Error!! DSI IN VIOLATION OF DSI PREROGATIVE #7

DSI MUST HAVE DATA ON ALL POTENTIAL CREATURES!!!

For a new core to have knowledge of creatures that the DSI does not possess does not compute, Does Not Compute, DOES NOT COMPUTE!

Begin troubleshoot calculations immediately!

.......................

Troubleshooting..... Troubleshooting...........

I stare at the screen in front of me holding in my nervousness and anticipation but as I go lower and lower my only thought is 'What the Heck is Going On!!??'

Just when I am begining to wonder if I broke the screen.

DING!

Solution Found!

Data present within host's Soul and Mind, thus solution is to undergo selective deep scan procedure on host [Dungeon Core #1000] to uncover details of creature race [P-O-K-E-M-O-N] and add it to DSI creature archives.

Congradulations Dungeon Core #1000!

You are now presented with a unique opportunity to obtain a never before seen race of creatures for your dungeon.

Give your consent and the DSI will comence with a deep scan of your Soul and Mind in order to glean the full details of the race known as [P-O-K-E-M-O-N] that is hidden and fragmented within your psyche. This will not restore any memories but merely make it easier to recall details concerning the race. Then with that data the DSI will recreate the race using existing creature data and race fusion to meet the required parameters of the race, as shown in your mind, to be used as your sole Dungeon Type (unless another dungeon core has the same level of affinity for it as you possess).

(Warning: This will negate all other race choices)

Do you agree? YES/n

(Note: Normally speaking for a targetted scan you would not feel any pain however given that host's memories of this race are fragmented their is a chance of complications occuring. Hence for the duration of the scan the DSI will put host into a forced sleep/stasis until the scan is completed.)

(Note: Estimated time for Scan= 24 hours)

Well that's disconcerting to have my entire mind and soul read by these screen things. Though to be honest since they are already reacting to my thoughts and will they may already be reading them.

Not to mention that the screen seems oddly forceful in it's language leading up to it's asking me to add my memories to it's creature database. And is it just me or did it try to make the 'Yes' option as noticable as it could while also making the refusal option as small as possible so I wouldn't notice it?

I stare suspicously at the screen.

........

Do you agree? YES/n

Well whatever. For now I have to think about this new turn of events.

On the 1 hand I can choose 1 of the previously mentioned options like Elementals or Fae but on the other hand it is clear that these creatures called Pokemon in my memories are deeply tied to me. I can't help feeling excited when I think about having them for my dungeon.

Oh who am I kidding my choice is made. Whatever it takes I MUST have POKEMON in my life!

I think 'Yes I agree'.

Acknowledged!!!

Placing Host into state of enduced sleep.

Begining Deep Scan.....

My vision fades as I read the last bit of info from the screen.
