Beginning Dungeon Creation Introduction procedures......
Completed! Displaying Information Sheet
Dungeons 101 (Dungeon Core Version):
Dungeon cores are spawned in random places across the world.
To begin building your dungeon you must first sense the surrounding mana as well as the mana within yourself, through Mana Perception.
This is an innate ability to all creatures closely tied to any form of mana but is also able to be aquired by those without this gift through training.
It is a required and vital skill for the majority of individuals who wants to reach the higher ranks.
After you have felt the mana you must now will own mana to make the surrounding mana, and the territory it is a part of, your own by surrounding, subjucating, and absorbing it into the mana you control through your force of will.
Thus eventually assimilating and cycling the foreign environment and energies into your own territory and mana.
The larger amount of mana converted and the smaller your own mana reserves the longer this process takes.
After the process is completed the dungeon core will be able to move and rearange the land under their control fairly easily, provided that their are no foreign mana sources within the territory. This is one of the reasons that most dungeons create floors or caves underground, to minimize the amount of foreign man sources that can enter their lands accidentally.
Using the new control over the land the dungeon core then creates it's dungeon, floors, and rooms by molding and concentrating the land and mana with their will. Either using their own creativity or channeling their will and mana into the standard templates provided.
Alright then. So far I seem to understand the process but unsure how well I'll be able to actually execute it.
Oh well (I mentally shrug). Only thing left to do is try it out for myself and learn as I go, plus it says this is natural for my current race.
So let's see how this goes.
First off I close my 'eyes', or I guess my awareness (?), and focus inward ignoring everything else around me......
I try to feel for something, anything with all of my senses.
........
After a short while I begin to feel something.
I focus in on that feeling and gradually it becomes clearer and clearer to me.
At first it felt like a small spark of light just flashed past my awareness before then disappearing. However after spending more time focusing and searching it appeared again only much more substantial this time and for a longer period.
I continue trying to find that light bluish spark of light and with each attempt it becomes more clear and I can percieve it for longer. I eventually reach a point where I realize that it's a small glowing vibrant blue ball of energy that's pulsing with every passing moment. I can't be sure but it also seems like it is slowly growing as well since each time I look it seems slightly bigger.
Although I guess it could be that I was only seeing part if it before and with each subsequent attempt I make I slowly begin to reveal more and more of the complete ball of light/energy. I wonder if this is my mana?
Oh no! Because my focus wandered off a bit it seems my awareness of the energy waned and now I can no longer see/feel it!
Forget the distracting thoughts, just focus on feeling the energy!! Keep focusing!
I don't know how long this kept going on for but I kept feeling and searching for the energy within me for a while and with each passing second more and more of the energy is revealed to my awareness.
It is constantly growing larger in my mind with deeper blue color with each attempt, going from a small blue tennis ball to a large one about the size of a small hill with a very dense, bright deep blue color bordering on dark blue. It is at this point that I can no longer tell if it is increasing in size anymore and I feel myself energized with and fully aware of this power.
"Ding!"
I hear a 'ding' sound, knowing that it is probably a notification but I do not want to lose this feeling and all of my work like before so I continue with this meditation and soul searching for a while longer. Slowly trying to multitask between sensing this energy and having other thoughts.
After what I think is about half a day I get the hang of it and begin slowly opening my eyes to view the notification while maintaining this state of perception.
Ding!!
Congradulations Dungeon Core# 1000!
You have gained insight in the Dungeon Core innate skill of 'Mana Perception'
You are now able to percieve the mana around and within you and your dungeon
You are now able to see and percieve your surroundings using your mana
You are now ready to start expanding and building your dungeon.
(Note: Depending on where your core is located the layout and outer appearance of your Dungeon may make or break how you develop so proceed with caution.)
Suddenly my vision is filled with a light brownish glow tinged with a hint of light blue. After taking a few moments of shocked silence at the sudden onset of color, I slowly get used to the glow and realize that it is surrounding me from all sides and angles.
Finally it looks like I can 'see' or at least have some form of vision now!
After double checking my surroundings to look for any threats or clues to where I am I try to focus on a particular section of this wall of light in front of me.
While staring at it and scrutinizing it for details I realize that it is somewhat transparent allowing me to see through this wall/sphere of light surrounding me to see what is beneath it.
I am shocked to discover that I am surrounded by earth, small rocks and soil from all sides.
What's going on here? How will I breath like this!?
Wait a sec......
If it's been like this with me being buried since I first woke up then how did I survive until now without being able to breathe......
I turn my 'sight' away from my surroundings and decide to take a look at my 'body' or at least what I think is my body.
The point of view of my perception rises in height before I then look down.
However all I see is a glowing blue spherical orb about the size of a basketball.
I wonder.... is this me?
Is this what a 'Dungeon Core' looks like?
I can feel the blue mana within the sphere pulsing. With each pulse resonating with me and my thoughts so I know for sure that it is indeed my body.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. For some reason I expected my body to have arms and legs along with a head but I can't seem to recall why.......
Oh well, right now I have to focus on building my dungeon and defenses.
Now that I have an idea about my surroundings and body I am convinced I am somewhere underground.
So for now my priority is to expand my influence and territory.
I begin focusing on the mana within me and will it to extend outside of my spherical body.
The mana responds and moves to surround my body while slowly expanding all around me for about a meter. At this point I will it to stop and try to absorb and asimilate the mana and territory in the environment.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
It takes a bit of time and I feel slightly out of breath but afterwards I return to normal and can now feel a sense of control and understanding over the soil I just seized. The mana in my core lowered slightly but is still fairly full at about 98% or more.
Ok seems simple enough. I continue to will my mana to extend above, below, behind, and in front of my core for 360 degrees all around for about 4 more meters before stopping. Then I focus on asimilating the mana and territory I just extended to. It takes a bit longer due to the enlarged area I covered but after 5 minutes or so I feel an expanded awareness of my territory.
My territory is now in a spherical shape with a radius of about 5 meters with my dungeon core at the center. Based off what I can tell from my mana reserves I can still handle some more, plus I still have no idea what my current environment is like above ground.
As such I decide to start extending my mana straight up while maintaining the same diameter of 10 meters but do so somewhat slowly so that my mana recovery and asimilation can keep up with my spending.
Given my large mana pool it was progressing fairly quickly. After a while I finally reached the surface where my mana engulfed something other than rocks, soil, and the rare tree root. It was actual air. After sending my mana upwards for about 50 meters I had finally reached the surface!
I quickly went about claiming whatever mana I could from above ground while continuing to extend my mana into the air above the surface for 5 meters so I can get a sense of what is going on.
After claiming the territory above my core with a diameter of 10 meters I send my perception up to the surface to have a look around. When I get there and check my barings I see that I am surrounded on all sides by a lush green forest of trees and plants. My cylindrical domain above ground is covered in grass with 2 large trees on opposite edges of my domain.
Outside my domain I see even more trees along with only small glimpses of sunlight coming through the holes between all the leaves and branches. It is hard to judge since I am underneath and in the middle of them all but from what I can see all the trees seem to be fairly large with most being around 14 meters high or larger with thick trunck at leasr 2 meters thick. I have no idea how large this forest is but judging by the density of the trees at the front and behind me I am guessing that I am right on the border between the inner forest and outer forest.
Ding!
Oh a notification. Now that I have better control over multitasking I decide to look at it.
Congradulations Dungeon Core 1000!
You have made it to the outside world!
Now that your influence has reached the surface beings sensitive to mana will be able to sense the new ripples of mana that your territory gives off and come seek out the source of the disturbance.
To what end, only they themselves would know.
Be prepared young Dungeon for your fight for Growth and Survival Now Begins!
+100 Exp +1 Luck +Basic Dungeon Entrance Template +Basic Stairs Template +Title: Hasty One
Oh Drat, OH Drat, OH DRAT!!!!
I don't have any defenses set up at all.
What do I do, what do I do..., What do I do......?
First lets calm down. Deep breath, exhale, deep breath, exhale. Sigh....
Now lets take a look at the title I got.
Hasty One: You have taken a quick action/s far faster than others in your situation without considering or realizing the consequences. Whether such action/s result in good or ill are entirely dependant on luck. (Normal Version: +10% Agility; Dungeon Version: +3% to the build speed of structures and monster movement speed)
I feel slightly offended that I now have this title but the build speed boost is helpful right now. I need whatever handouts I can get. So I'm just gonna speed through this and start making defences.
First off I use the Basic Dungeon Entrance Template by spending 200 MP and focusing on the center of my territory above ground. The mana and soil gather together to be absorbed before forming a fairly large square hole in the ground 5 meters long and wide with 2 small grey stone pillars in front about 2 meters high and 1 meter thick.
Now I have to expand my territory to allow for a wide environment where my monsters can effectively live and battle. So I decide to send my awareness about 8 meters below ground in my claimed territory and face the direction that is towards the back of my new entrance hole. Then I send my mana out to extend to 100 meters to my right and left in a straight line to claim that territory.
After less than 5 minutes I feel the surge signifying that it has been claimed, at which point while maintaining that width I extend my mana lengthwise in front of me for about 300 meters. This claiming takes about 10 minutes but I only feel a small drain on my mana since they are still in a straight line.
I now brace myself for a larger strain on my mana. I will my mana to extend down from my recently claimed territory to reach all the way down to where my core is while maintaining their current coverage, going down 52 meters to create a giant room that I will use as the main area of the floor. I groan as I feel quite a chink of mana leave me all at once. I feel my reserves and think that expansion took about 30% of my mana. After a little less than an hour or so I feel the territory being completely claimed.
I will my core to move to the end of the room farthest away from the entrance.
Then I focus on making a tunnel and stairs by using the Basic Stairs Template and absorbing all of the soil within my territory. As I spend 40 mana to use the Stairs template I focus on connecting the starting point/wall of the giant room to the entrance. The now empty tunnel slants slightly so that their is enough room for the staircase can effectively reach all the way to the middle point of the giant room wall. Then the stairs and walls of the connecting tunnel are covered in gray stones.
I take a look at the current state of my dungeon and it is basically an opening hole in the ground with stairs in a slightly slanted tunnel going down for about 5 minutes before reaching a completely dark giant room. The stairway to the entrance is 10 meters above the ground of the giant room with the stairs leaving the tunnel/corridor and sticking several meters out in the air 10 meters above the floor away from the tunnel and wall.
Ok now I have to set the environment and other factors to make up my first floor.
For starters I use the Sky Terrain templates of Sunny Day and Sparse Cloudy Sky on the ceiling/sky of the room for a total of 225 MP to brighten it up. Then I use the Land Terrain templates of Short Grassy Plain for the first half of the room (155 meters) and Tall Grassy Plain for the 2nd half of the room (155 meters) for a total of 1700 MP while also raising up the land from the bottom of the room so that it is on the same level as the stairs.
Next I place some trees and berry trees scattered around the floor for 80 MP. First I purchase 2 sets of 3 ordinary Trees, keeping them together to create a small little outcrop for shade. Then I place both groupings of trees on either side of the stairs but so that the trees are an equal distance from the stairs as they are to the corner walls. Also after checking them after they have spawned I am slightly disappointed to find that none of the trees are fruit bearing yet.
For the next set of trees as well as for the only set of berry trees that I purchase I am going separate them and place them on the floor individually. In the first half of the floor on the Short Grassy Plain at about 70 meters in I am going to place 1 berry tree, which spawned Razz Berries, to the far left (if your back is facing the stairs to the surface) of the room very close to but not touching the wall and an ordinary tree to the right a fair distance away from the right wall.
Next in the Tall Grassy Plains at about 50 meters in I am going to place 1 berry tree, which spawned Occa Berries, to the far right (if your back is facing the stairs to the surface) of the room somewhat close to the wall and an ordinary tree to the left a fair distance away from the right wall.
For the final berry tree, which spawned with Oran Berries, I place it the farthest back in the room in the middle of it at about 305 meters in. For some reason I get the sensation that these Oran Berries are the most valuable berries that I currently have access to so I placed them as far in as I could and even placed them in view of my core. Though I plan to move my core to another room when I have time. I also decide to spawn another set of 3 trees, 1 of which was a suprising Hazelnut tree, around the Oran Berry Tree to protect it somewhat while also partially blocking the view of anyone who passes without looking too closely. Next I decide to place the last ordinary tree, which finally spawned a fruit which were Apples, in the very center of the room right on the border where the Short Grass turns into Tall grass.
I look over my work and am very satisfied. This is a floor with much need life, greenery and light. A much needed improvement over the dark pit of doom and gloom that it was before if I do say so myself.
Now time for me to populate it. Given the size of the floor I feel I should definitely spawn a fair amount of denizens so far starters I call forth about 100 Rattata using 200 MP and 25 Raticate with 125 MP and scatter them throughout the floor.
I watch in fascination as these creatures are summoned forth from my mana amid a glow of bluish white light. Then after a brief flash a rodent with purple fur, a white underbelly and a large fang is created before me in several places on the floor.
This, I think, is a Rattata.
Following them the Raticate are create, larger and plumper than the Rattata, with light brown fur, the same under belly, and much bigger back feet and fangs. The Rattata I pretty evenly distribute and have wander about but for the Raticate I have 15 in the Tall Grassy Plain and 10 in the Short Grassy Plain at all times.
Now I guess I simply wait and observe my creations. I want to use this time to check if I should change of add anything onto the floor while observing these creatures that I have such a familiarity with.
Oh yes I should also take a look at my stats. I think "Status".
