I think you owe Rimorr an apology (Ch. 6)

“Hey, I wanna visit Rimorr again. Can I go with you for a little after school today?”

Mia ambushes Amgis with her untimely request in the cafeteria. Due to the chaotic chattering of the other students, she put her lips close to his ear. Making her soft breath and sweet voice only a few inches away. His heart would have been fluttering like a butterfly if she had said anything else. Seeing Amgis’ conflicted face, Mia continues.

“I know it's a boy’s bathroom,” she says, assuming that is why Amgis looks unsure, “but I have so many questions that I have to ask it.”

Amgis drops his head in contemplation and then glances at Bear who is currently sitting, or more like napping, next to him. Probably looking for a way out of it, only to realize he never has plans after school. A fact that Mia likely knows. The best result would be if no one uses the bathroom again for risk of ruining it further, but this prospect was lost the moment she asked Amgis.

“...Sure,” he responds in a defeated tone.

“Awesome!” A huge smile appears on Mia’s face. “I’ll meet you in the hallway outside the bathroom after school. It should be completely deserted by then.”

She happily skips away back to her table with her friends. Her skirt and curly, shoulder-length hair—both a night-sky black—sway to the left and right, following the tempo of her steps. Amgis glances at her back and sighs. He knows that there is no way he would ever be able to say no to Mia and her child-like cuteness.

The rest of the day went by with Amgis nervously fidgeting. Most likely due to the mixed emotions of joy to meet with Mia, but fear of running into the mysterious guy again. The final bell rang for the school day and Amgis begrudgingly made his way back to the second floor of the Science building. Once he got there, Mia was waiting patiently at the top of the staircase. In the same spot as the guy who approached him about Rimorr.

Except, that thought does not seem to bother him. Appearing lost in thought, she was basking in the dazzling afternoon sunlight coming through the small windows at the top of the stairway wall. Her tan skin seems to absorb and radiate the light, while her hair sparkles like fireworks at the height of night. Not to mention, her slim, athletic figure and porcelain face. A truly gorgeous spectacle that Amgis probably burns into his memory as he pauses a few steps from the top.

A few moments pass before he realizes he is rudely staring at her and makes himself known. After that, they check to make sure there is no one else on the floor watching them as they approach the bathroom together. Making short conversation about how it also seems that the girls’ bathroom adjunct to the boys’ bathroom never gets used. Most likely due to it being close to the “creepy mirror” bathroom.

Before entering, they double-check that no one is watching or following them. It seems clear to them after a few seconds, so Amgis pulls the door open.

“You big jerk!” Rimorr cries, immediately fashioning Amgis’ reflection. Showing clear disdain with furrowed brows and crossed arms. It always shows levels of emotion that seem unfit for how Amgis typically reacts. Even now, he seems only slightly taken aback. Probably having figured that Rimorr was not going to be happy due to his extended absence.

Amgis opened his mouth to respond, but before any words came out, his reflection had reverted to normal, and then Mia’s reflection spoke.

“Mia!” Rimorr said, with a drastic change of enthusiasm. “I’m so glad you’re back. How are you?”

“I’m good! But why’s Amgis a jerk?”

Mia seems rather amused by Rimorr’s sudden outburst. A faint smile hidden on the corner of her lips.

“Because he hasn’t visited me for over a week! He didn’t even give me a heads-up!”

Rimorr returns to his state of grievance. Staring daggers at Amgis with Mia’s sharp, brown eyes. Which, he doesn’t return the gaze of. Either out of guilt or fear of blushing from the intense look on his crush’s face… or both.

“Why’s that?” Mia asks, addressing Amgis in a placid tone.

“...I just didn’t need to use the bathroom,” he lies.

Amgis hangs his head low, trying to look pitiful. Knowing that no matter what he says, he is going to be in the wrong in their eyes. The only way to clear it up would be to tell them the truth, but apparently, he did not feel the need to do so.

“You could have visited Rimorr without needing to use the bathroom, though.”

Rimorr nodded its head in agreement.

“I suppose you’re right,” Amgis replies under his breath, complacent in his defeat. But Mia wasn’t done teasing him yet…

“I think you owe Rimorr an apology.”

“What?!”

Amgis shoots his gaze at Mia, betrayed. His eyes seek hers, looking for a hint of remorse, but only finds a cold glare that can freeze a volcano. Meanwhile, Rimorr is nodding furiously, like a fan at a rock concert.

“...I’m sorry,” he sighs.

“Like you mean it!” Mia says with an evil grin. Clearly having too much fun by messing with Amgis.

“I’m sorry, Rimorr. I won’t do it again.”

This time, Amgis said it more clearly and concisely so there is no way they can say he didn’t apologize. Mia and Rimorr share the same satisfied look upon hearing this. Amgis falls to his butt, too embarrassed to stay standing.

“Good. Now you can be friends again.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Amgis waves his hand, looking away from them both. “Just ask Rimorr the questions you wanted to ask it. I’m gonna stay down here for now.”

They both softly giggle with the same laugh before Mia starts asking Rimorr all sorts of questions about its abilities and memories. Their conversation goes on for many minutes, while Amgis sits against the wall trying his best to hide the redness creeping up to his cheeks.
