Drew awoke slowly in a room he didn't recognize.
"I guess last night wasn't an exhaustion fulled hallucination huh." He mumbled whilst looking around.
Taking in his surrounding he noticed how spartan the room was, compromised of only a bed, a window, and the door to presumably get in and out of.
"Not exactly the master suite but at least the bed is comfortable."
Smelling unfamiliar food Drew got up out of bed and made for the door, upon opening he also noticed a sound of fervent scratching like someone writing quickly as possible miss spellings be damned.
Hearing the door Nothus called out. "Morning kid come here and eat quickly I have some stuff to explain before I send you on your way."
As Drew approaches and sits down he asks "Send me on my way? Your kicking me out already huh."
"Not exactly more moving you somewhere else, and it's not exactly by choice, unfortunately I've been given a deadline before I have to leave by someone I'd have a hard time ignoring and since you probably shouldn't follow me I need to get rid of you so I can focus on preparing to leave."
"Okay so not exactly throwing me out, where exactly are you sending me then?"
"First things first, your path has something to do with studying or copying other paths correct?"
"It's called the Path of Paths and the goal I had in mind last night was to follow others paths so most likely"
"I'd assumed as much" Nothus said with a nod. "And that's why I'm sending you to a school. The headmaster owes me a few favors, and I figured this would be a good opportunity for you to take the first few steps along your path while also preparing yourself for the world."
"You know you seem pretty unconcerned about just dropping someone from another world off alone, is there a particular reason about that?"
"Hm oh yea I mean people from other worlds aren't exactly common, but they aren't unheard of either. Anyone who finds out might be curious but it's unlikely to land you in any trouble."
"I guess that's reassuring to hear at least, speaking of the school what exactly would I be taught?"

"The school is specialized in 3 things, cultivation, magic, and paths. Basically becoming stronger physically, the ability to alter the world around you, and following your path. I'm guessing your world didn't have much mana in the air since you seem to have zero mana circulated?"
"Uh, to my knowledge there was no magic at all."
Nothus shakes his head knowingly. "Than this will be invaluable for you to learn, you'll be a little older than the average student but also far from the oldest there. Most students are around 16 with the oldest students around 30. So you shouldn't have a hard time age wise, obviously culture might be an issue but I can't solve that quickly so I'm not gonna worry about it."
"So when do I leave?"
"In about 30 minutes, might want to start eating"
As Drew ate the food he asked a couple more questions that didn't really inform him much about this world. Humans are the only non monstrous sentient race however bassically anything capable of using magic in the wild is at just below human intelligence or higher depending on the species. Magical creatures have some overlap with fantasy creatures from his world and plenty that he doesn't recognize, they could just be from more obscure fantasy but he's unsure. He also learns that the world is also just called earth and that the reason that is, is just because he technically has a blessing on him from travels that auto translates everything for him, this is something she does for all people from other worlds not just him, however he's thankful anyways. And he also learns the specifics of his summoning conditions.
"So what exactly do you mean by friend of animals and spirits?"
"Well I just wanted someone with an open path that could go in any direction and not be hampered by lack of talent." As he finished up he perked up. "I nearly forgot, what was your path ability?"
"Is that the ability I got for starting my path." after a nod from nothus Drew continued. "I got something called path sight, kind of forgot about it till now. Do you know what it does?"
"I've never heard of it, although going off the name it should be some kind of sight ability. Try using it while looking at me."
With a shrug Drew looked at Nothus with a look of concentration. After a few seconds he let out a short breath.
"I think it shows other people's paths."
"What do you mean, what does it say for me."
"It reads path of mentor"
"I guess it does show you other people's paths, that could be quite useful, probably don't go telling people you can see their paths though there are certain people who might retaliate."
With a nod Drew agrees and finishes eating after with Nothus grabs a suitcase hands it to Drew and points him towards a door covered in runes near the bedroom.
"Just go through that door and look for someone wearing a uniform and hand them this letter" He hands Drew a letter. "They should deal with the rest, I'll visit the next time I get the chance have fun, there should be enough money to last for awhile in the case ask the principle to explain the value of money to you, I'm sure he'll want to chat. Good luck and get out of here I've gotta write about 100 more letters." With that Nothus spun on his heel and marched back over to the table sat down and started writing again.
After glancing back Drew figured he'd get no where standing around so went over and opened the door, instead of a pathway there was a swirling brightly lit wall of light, looking back again Nothus didn't seem surprised so Drew shrugged, muttered "Fuck it." and stepped into the portal.
