Once the light clears and I blink the spots out of my eyes I look around and take in my surrounding. I'm sitting in the center of a blackened circle that is identical to the one that appeared in my room. I appear to be in some kind of ritual room, there are book shelves lining the walls being lit by alcoves with no discernable light sources. Looking forward I take in the man standing in front of me, he's a tall man in his 40's based on appearance and absurdly handsome considering his age. He's wearing what can only be described as absurdly wizardly attire, a purple robe lined with black with a pointy wizard hat with stars on it. It almost hurts to look at such a stereotypical outfit and if he didn't look so smug I'd consider making fun of him.

Seeing as he isn't moving to help I start to get up on my own. Once I'm on my feet I shoot him a glare which he doesn't seem to notice.

"Welcome young one from a faraway land, might I ask your name?" The wizard intones.

Seeing as he is probably the one that summoned me I might as well be nice for now.

"My name is Drew Wilson, care to explain what's going on here Mr wizard guy."

"Well you see I am in need of an extraordinary student, and in order to find one I had to turn to equally extraordinary means" he replied with a chuckle.

"You were looking for a student so you summoned one from another world" I deadpanned

"Well of course, I was turned away by all easier prospects. And so be it, just because I would find the perfect path for them and not the path they wanted, or should I say their parents want for them. Bah don't let me rant at you we a lot to go through before the day is up as I was saying -"

"Actually first can you explain this paths Nonsense first, I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it's some sort of magical job or something."

"AH of course well you see the paths are what grants us our power, and guides our actions. For example I am on the path of the mentor, I teach others and doing so successfully will grant me power and abilities in order to assist that path."

"And how exactly are you supposed to find your path, your goal Is to lead others to it but how do you get it?"

"A good question my soon to be student. Once you know what path you wish to take in life unclouded by outside influence your path shall reveal itself to you, and you shall begin your journey through the steps of your path"

"That sounds suspiciously like classes and leveling from back home, can you change paths after unlocking one?"

"Well changing paths requires a life changing event, the most common one being someone being put on a path of vengeance after losing loved ones. Although that's hardly the only reason one could change paths, for the most part though, once you start you are unlikely to change to another path."

"Wait does that mean you can't have a path dedicated to traveling other paths? I think I would like to learn how other here think plus tying myself to some path when theres a whole new world to explore seems like a poor choice."

"Well I've never heard of someone whose path led them down the same path as someone else, after all everyone's path is unique. Many of us walk in the same direction but no two destinations are the same. That said I don't see why your path couldn't be to follow in the path of others, that how most teachers teach anyways, using their path to inform and help those on similar paths."

As he finished his lecture the room started to light up again, at first I thought it was the magic circle, but a glance around revealed that this time the light was coming from me.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me, how was it this easy" the wizard spoke to himself

"I can see you aren't enjoying what's going on here, care to explain if I should be worried"

"You have no need to be worried, if anything you should be ecstatic. This is your path crystalizing."

"And that means what exactly?"

"Just give it a minute you should be able to figure it out, I'll answer any questions once you are done"

Just as I was about to ask another question I blacked out.

The last thing I remember as I was falling over was a message appearing in my head.
