What came out of the grey portal certainly did look like a man, but thats only if you ignored the fact that he was made out of paper .
He had no facial features of any kind, he looked like a paper manekin holding a paper cross like sword.

Erin quickly told Baldur to give him a slight cut, then fed the paper swordsman a drop of his blood which he absorbed like a piece of paper would absorb water .
" Did it work? I dont even know how to do it this guy doesnt even have a mouth "
As if to confirm it, he got another notification.

He turned his head to see Baldur but Baldur was facing to the deepest part of the tunnel.
Erin tried looking at the same direction but all he saw was darkness, until 2 big yellow eyes lit up .
A red serpent twice or three times the size of the ones they had been fighting so far made himself visible, but size wasnt the only thing that differentiated it from his minions.
Unlike the other serpents, he had small legs, small arms and 2 huge green horns at the top of his head.

Before he could even give his orders, Modi's small body jumped high with his hammer ready to strike.
" THINK YOURE SPECIAL YOU STUPID CREATURE " * BOOM * , his big hammer struck the serpent boss on its forehead, a very ugly screaming of pain forced Erin and Baldur to cover their ears.
The pain was so terrible he almost wished he was a paper swordsman, the paper summoning was just simply chilling there with his sword un-affected.
As if hearing his wishes, his ears transformed themselves into pieces of paper and isolated the noise from entering, Erin's mouth almost fell from the surprise. " HEY BRING BACK MY EARSS"
The screaming ended and the ears reverted back to normal, what happened was super weird but he would think about what it later. For now they had to make it out of this place alive .
" Paper swordsman, Kill that monster "
Soon the paper swordsman joined Baldur and Modi in battle, his addition made things easier for the other two and gave Erin some courage .
" This chunk of paper is better than I thought "
Modi would jump and hit the monsters skull while Baldur and the paper summon would slash the monster's body.

All of a sudden, the monster swang its tail and sent all three of them flying, with noone on their feet the monster went towards Erin, ENRAGED .
His only skill was paperblast so he used it, the five papers stuck themselves on the monsters body and exploded one after the other, after each explosion the uglier the serpent's scream became .
Baldur was the first to stand up and after finding the serpent's skin weakened from explosions, he shot 3 blue light slashes that took form of a crescent moon, all 3 of his attacks hit and finished it off.
" Im so ashamed my lord, we didnt protect you but you protected us instead. I shall not eat for 3 days to reflect on my sins "
" No, I forbid you from doing that. You need to eat well so you can have enough strength to protect me. Besides, we dont even have any food now that I think about it so we got to find some or we are gonna starve "
He was left amazed by the changes in his body once more, he just now realised that he had not eaten for days yet he felt no fatigue or weakness.
He only came to his senses after a series of notifications .

At the edge of the dead serpent's tail, Erin noticed the very familiar purple sphere that had drastically changed his life .
" So boss monsters have lord rings as well huh ? "
he removed it from its tail and tried checking it out, the ring was far smaller than his which indicated its rank was lower. The system notification confirmed it.

He obviously couldnt pass on such an offer, danger was coming and he needed all the help he could get....
After choosing to conquer it, the den started self destrucing so he had to rely on Modi's jump to get out of this place . The paper swordsman had gone back to the paper domain according to the notification, he was experiencing change or something like that, Erin wasnt totally sure but hoped for the best.
" We are done for today, lets go back to our village to get some good food and a well deserved shut of eye "
