Ozlo The Slow
Good Morning

Good Morning

"Wake up you big oaf!" someone shouted directly into Ozlo's ear.

"Huh? What's going on here?" These thoughts and other less coherent ones ran through Ozlo's mind as he felt a less than gentle nudge pushing into his chest. Glancing upwards, Ozlo spotted the familiar sight of his caretaker.

"I said, WAKE UP." Mother Patricia yanked the thin cover off of Ozlo as he attempted to stand. "You're of age, so get examined and get out of here."

Gentle as always, Mother Patricia screamed at Ozlo to get his big, lazy, and dumb ass out of bed and go about their duties. A typical day for Ozlo, were he not receiving his very first card today.

Taking stock of his surroundings, thoughts slowly started to drift into Ozlo's thick skull. "No time like the present I guess. I'll be glad to be rid of this place, as long as the next place isn't even worse..." Ozlo idly thought to himself.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Mother Patricia snapped her fingers mere inches from the boys face, trying to rouse his attention. "Ozlo, pay attention! Go into the main cathedral, speak to the father superior, and get your card. Choose wisely and LISTEN to the father. Get it. LISTEN! Do you understand me boy?" Mother Patricia croaked at the boy.

Forcing himself out of his stupor, Ozlo's eyes focused onto the mother. "Yes Mother, I understand. I'll listen and pay attention." Ozlo meekly replied.

Mother Patricia's face softened a bit. "That's a good lad, now go and make me pr- go and get it done. Your first card is important." Mother Patricia shooed Ozlo onward.

Ozlo straightened his clothes to the best of his abilities and stood up straighter. "Yes Mother." the boy replied.

A long silence filled the room while Ozlo stood there unmoving, steeling himself for his future. Taking a deep breathe, Mother Patrica shouted. "GO! NOW!" Before shooing him out the door.

Doing his best to avoid another reprimand, Ozlo squeaked out. "Yes Mother!" Before rushing forward to see the Father.
