Ozlo The Slow
Day 6: Holding Things

Day 6: Holding Things

Ozlo regretted his previous thoughts. "This job is easy, but it's BORING." Looking around he took stock of what he did that day. Woke up, ate breakfast, and held the tongs while Manny beat some iron into the rough shape of a knife. Despite Manny's earlier claims that things would pick up, Ozlo had yet to see any sort of improvement.

Instead, he spent his free time cooking with Boyd, reviewing his book, or gathering a bit of loose firewood when needed. It was during such a task that he once again came across the healer girl, Elizabeth.

"AH!" She shouted when she accidentally bumped into Ozlo as he was bent over picking up loose sticks and tinder. "Sorry, sorry. I didn't see you there. I was just collecting some firewood and... Oh. You're doing the same."

Ozlo, unsure of what to say merely nodded and continued about his task as the healer meandered about. "I'm Elizabeth, but I told you and your friends that the other day so uh. I'm a healer, I'm an orphan, and my favorite food is cake. Not that I get much cake being an orphan and all that but..."

Ozlo gathered a sizeable amount of wood and made his way back to the camp, not noticing that Elizabeth was in tow. "Ozlo, I see that you've returned. Oh... And with a guest." Boyd waggled his eyebrows suggestively while Ozlo turned around, seeming to notice Elizabeth for the first time. "Oh. That's Elizabeth."

Boyd nodded sagely and gestured for Elizabeth to come closer. "Come come, there's plenty of stew and bread. Well, whatever passes for bread out here in the woods at least." Like a startled fawn, Elizabeth stood there quietly weighing her options. "Actually, I should uh-" Boyd grabbed a bowl and gently placed it into her hands, while gesturing to a log the boys had brought over yesterday for sitting. "Come, come. Relax, it's always good to see a healer."

Suspicion and confusion filled her face and before she could question Boyd on just how exactly he knew she was a healer, Boyd interrupted her, as he had a habit of doing. "The boys told me. So, a healer. You don't see too many of those on sma34ll expeditions like this. I'm guessing you're pretty new to your abilities?"

Elizabeth, finding her voice finally responded. "Yes, I've only just recently left the churches orphanage and this is my first expedition." Ozlo fed the fire while Elizabeth and Boyd made small-talk. That is until Boyd proudly proclaimed. "Then it's settled. You can join the boys and I'll keep an eye out on you all." Ozlo, once again cursing his inability to pay close attention to things that don't directly concern him seemed confused. Especially so when Elizabeth bowed to him and left the camp with a big smile on her face.

"I'm glad we got that settled boy, it's a tough place for a healer in this world. Especially one without any foundation or combat cards." Boyd's permanent smile wavered for just a moment, before he broke out in a wide grin. "And it wouldn't hurt for you young lads to get used to the company of a lady either!" Boyd gave Ozlo a small slap on his back and went back to stirring the pot, in more ways than one.
