Project; Reveal

A deep sigh I take as the frozen desert's winds crash into my body, a mere breeze to the overwhelming energy of cold which surges through me. An infinity of power at my grasp, freezing albeit its blazing form.

Yet still nowhere close to my goal I remain.

Many worlds I've searched, many realities I've gone through.

To find that one, to find his resting place.

To find it...

Long I've lived, for long I've existed, too long even.

Still I search, as I grasp onto the fabric of reality and tear it asunder with my furry white tails, opening a rift in space.

I step into it, a motion I've by now programmed into my very muscles. Having done so...so many times before.

Stepping into another world, another reality.

Another story, as I reminisce about the ones that came before.

So many heroes, so many villains, and so many others. I remember them all, the strong and the weak, the glorious and the fallen. I don't mean to remember, I don't need those memories, I only need to know my goal and only my goal. Yet they are such wonderful stories I cannot help but remember them.

Some even stand out above the rest...

Vaguely I remember one story, that of a void of the nine hells, and a Dragon reborn to fight them.

Vaguely I remember another, of a game turned against its creators, and a boy who goes against all odds.

Vividly though, I remember of another game. One turned reality, one turned into both a fantastic dream...and a nightmare.

I hold on to that memory, helplessly I hold on as not to forget.

Stolen story; please report.

I cannot forget.

I will never forget...

I tell myself this as I gaze upon this new world, a field of clouds now laying before me.

Strange, I think to myself.

As I stomp on the ground, seemingly a cloud yet solid, my foot only barely sinks into the strange material.

"Heaven eh? Haven't been here before." I speak out loud, to no one at all but myself. Having lived for as long as I have, it becomes natural to speak to yourself.

Every other God I know loves to monologue to themselves, so I never saw the issue with doing it too.

After all, living an eternity does become tedious and lonely at...some point.

I sigh, pondering if all this searching has finally made me lose my marbles at last.

When, a feeling then catches my attention. A sensation like nothing before it, and I've grasped every feeling there is!

Or at least...I thought I had until now.

It demands my full attention, yet at the same time, it also deters me from locating its origin. Powerful, yet also mysterious and evasive.

I reach out with both my mind and spirit, as a blueish form then grows all around me. Long pointed furry ears and two furry tails, four legs and a coat of the same white fur. My spirit form sniffs the air with its long snout, its keen eyes glancing from side to side.

I sense other things...many other things as I do this.

I sense a war, a conflict which happened all too long ago.

I sense a prideful evil, looming over the land.

I sense a...sorrowful darkness, saddening yet also burning with resolve.

And finally, I sense a sacrifice, willingly made for the sake of loved ones.

Those sensations fill me, they plague my mind for many...hours? years? eons? I don't know, I am unable to comprehend the passage of time at this point, I simply allow them to form and slowly...quickly? They start to make sense within my mind.

"It's here..." I realised, "It happened here."

Once more I search for that evasive feeling, once more I grasp it and try to find its origin.

Using up the utmost limit of my power, I search this reality, as the very land and sky tears apart in my wake. Some would call me a God, but at this moment, I become nothing more than a monster.

A monster with one goal, and little care for anything else beyond it.

Until, finally, I find it.

Hovering before what reformed into being my eyes, then head, then body. There it was, taking the shape of anything I willed it to become, the formless object finally lay before me.

What I had sought for so long, I had found it...Even if my goal was still far from being completed, finally I had found it.

"Finally...I found you..." I repeat to myself, as I hold the object grasped within both hands.

Currently taking the form of a black cloak, I hold it high.

"The Artefact of the Grand Quest..."
