“Tell me Draxxer, how will the Barik alliance break through that barrier? My intel tells me you’ve found a way.” Birse asked as he waited expectantly.
Draxxer’s mouth opened to speak but briefly stopped there as if he was resisting “Au-ra poisoning.” He then murmured.
“Lilior what’s that about?” Kyle asked seeing the strange reaction.
“He is resisting my control master, It’s over now.” Lilior explained.
Birse nodded “Draxxer, explain this aura poisoning.”
This time Draxxer replied just as monotone as earlier “Aura poisoning utilizes the will-powered mana that flows around one’s body and magic we call Aura. It is mana that is too agreeable with one’s nature making it unstorable by the soul, therefore it oozes out and flows around it’s owner.
Through the use of certain poisons created by the mage guilds we will poison the caster of the barrier through their Aura that flows around the barrier itself. Nothing can protect them from this method, it is a sure way to kill them.”
Sly stood up “Yo that’s just unfair and nasty!”
“True. Still we have to give it to them, they know more about mana than we ever will.” said Birse with a weary sigh, “Now we have another bargaining chip with Lucifer though.” he then stated with a smirk.
“Bargaining with THE Devil…Don’t like the odds bro.” said Death.
Birse hummed in thought “I couldn’t find much about the Dezol’s past except that they had one but… What Draxxer said earlier. The empires slew their Devil lords, does that mean Lucifer is the only survivor of those ‘Lords’ or a descendant?” he pondered over that question briefly “Lilior summon back Dagon, everybody else let me speak.” He then ordered.
Dagon reappeared just as he previously was, quiet, back to the wall and slightly more annoyed.
“Dagon.” Birse called out to him “I’m curious about something, were the Human, Dwarven, Beastkin and Elven raiders really able to kill all of your Devil lords back then? Where there no survivors at all of lordship?”
Dagon snorted “Of course there were, their descendants were left alive only because they hid in between the common folk. Those descendants grew up and continued the linage of rulers, one of them was my ancestor the great Demon lord Lucifer Morningstar’s son.”
Birse frowned at this explanation “So your father was named after the first lord?”
Dagon glanced around the carriage then shrugged “I see no harm in informing you of our history, very well I’ll tell you. No my father wasn’t named after the great Demon lord, my father IS the great Demon lord himself.”
Kyle took a step back and sat down trying to comprehend what he had just heard.
Birse took a step back as well from the confusion “But…wasn’t he killed along with the other lords?...Like a thousand years ago? You Devils can live that long?”
Dagon glanced up as he scratched his head “It is…difficult to explain. You see Devil lords are both mortal and immortal. Our bodies have an expiration date but our souls are forever, it does take a very long time to build up our bodies though. When a Devil lord dies our soul returns to the Abyss, a horrifying place created by the Avatar for the cruel deeds we accomplished during the God wars.
My sister Abaddon, she is probably there right now and will be for decades to come. When our time in the Abyss passes though, one of our descendants is chosen to inhabit our souls. That body the nutcase is inhabiting is one of my descendants, my ‘father’ is inhabiting one of his descendants as well.
To explain it further, there is two kinds of Devils. There is Demon lords or Devil royalty like me, Abaddon, Lilith, Legion, Belial and Lucifer. Then there is Devil descendants or Devillings like your friend here, who are the ones we now inhabit.
I am one of the second generation Demon lords like Abaddon, Lilith and Legion not the mortal sins like Lucifer. My memories from the past though, do not follow me. I am basically a new Devil with the power and name of who I was at the start but after death only our memories from the Abyss follow us back into life.
And to clear any further confusion, Lucifer isn’t truly my father. His shell is the father of the shell I was inhabiting, my memories are of him being my father yet my soul isn’t his soul’s son. As for Abaddon, she is Lucifer’s soul daughter yet she isn’t my soul’s sister, only in body she is. Does that explain it?”
Birse stared at him baffled “I…think so?”
Dagon chuckled, a cold wicked chuckle “Our souls are connected differently than our bodies are, for instance. The body I inhabited was the older brother to the body Belial is now inhabiting, his soul though makes him my soul’s uncle. Lucifer is similar to me as is Belial, his soul is the uncle to my soul. It is far less confusing than it sounds.”
Kyle stood back up “Wait does that mean Belial is actually something else than a son to Lucifer?”
Dagon nodded “Indeed. Lucifer being one of the first Demon lords, a mortal sin of pride. Is in actuality the same standing as Belial who is also one of the first Demon lords, a mortal sin of vanity. But due to how reincarnation works, we had to set a system of hierarchy else it would be chaos.
Due to Belial’s body being young he won’t be allowed to rule until he reaches maturity, until then he is below Lucifer who’s body is fully matured as a Devil. As for Abaddon, her sister Lilith’s body is younger than her but her soul is older. Same with Legion, he is the same age as Abaddon both in body and soul. All three of them are actually Lucifer’s children by soul, now also body.”
Sly laid back down “My head hurts…I’m…I’m gonna take a nap…”, everyone else had also either ignored his explanation or couldn’t be assed to comprehend.
Birse sighed deeply as he massaged his eyes “Okay, so Lucifer is actually Lucifer…”
“Something doesn’t make sense” Kyle suddenly said ”then how do you all know about reincarnation if your memories from before don’t follow you? Is it recorded somewhere?” who seemed to be the only one to have fully understood the Devil.
Soren looked at him “You understood that shit?” he whispered.
Kyle shrugged “Yeah…you didn’t?...” he whispered back.
Soren coughed “Sure…I did…” and looked away.
Dagon continued his explanation “Simply put? The original Demon lords, the Devils who hold the title of mortal sin, remember it all.”
“Okay wait one moment, by mortal sins I’m guessing you’re talking about the seven deadly sins in our mythology records?” asked Birse.
“Your world gathers too much history from even before the God wars.” said Dagon with a sigh “Too much of history has been warped into fantasy and tales of myth due to your lack of and understanding of magic. There is eight mortal sins, not seven. There is though seven Dezol legions due to Belial being too young to gather his own.” He then mused.
“Ehh…so most of the mythology is the same in reality then? Lucifer is a fallen angel? Are angels even a thing?” Birse asked, pushing for more information.
Dagon sighed “I’m afraid that explanation would be much more confusing. Unlike Demons who are an actual god created race, us Devils are…different. I guess I can use Lucifer as an example…” he thought for a couple moments before continuing “Angels do exist yes and are a race created by the God…actually I cannot pronounce their name with this language…Anyway, Lucifer was once an angel. An Arche Angel to be exact, the big bullies over in Heaven.
But ended up falling to mortality due to a falling out with his brethren.
He was then banished to the realm of Demons, the underworld also known as the nine levels of Hell. That was the Demon’s original realm before and around the God wars. Within that realm Lucifer changed and became what is known as a Devil, a race that one evolves into. Within Hell there were already others to have fallen from their original races and became Devils.
These along with Lucifer were the mortal sins, immortal beings moulded into who they are through their sins of when and what they were before.
Lucifer for their pride, Belial for their vanity, Asmodeus for their lust, Mammon for their greed, Leviathan for their envy, Beezlebub for their gluttony, Satan for their wrath and Belphegor for their sloth. They are the first and strongest of us Devils, which after the God wars we were allowed to be part of Chaoz through the begging of our lady Hel to the Avatar.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
The Avatar though, as I just said, put up an additional cost for our freedom. The Abyss if we died.”
“A freedom which was then stolen by the other races of Chaoz…” mused Kyle “Where were you sent then? Draxxer said something about the ‘plane of Nox’?”
Dagon grimaced, as if the very memory disgusted him “The godly plane of Nox…I admit the Abyss before each reincarnation was a fair price to pay for the things we did during the God wars but…Not even the solitude and eternal unchange in the Abyss compares to ‘Her’ plane. The Abyss was dark but that place…darkness was all it had, endless darkness.
We were blind, voiceless and unable to hear anything at all. If it wasn’t for the guidance of the mortal sins through their aura we might have perished there, although it did take many decades for them to reincarnate…” Dagon stared at Kyle “Tell me Fox, do you know what it means to starve? To truly starve? We had no sight or hearing which drove many to madness…and only one way to gain nourishment...
Many proud Demon sub-races were extinguished in that darkness but not because of starvation…” Dagon clenched his fists as his expression warped in disgust.
“You…you ate them?” Kyle asked horrified.
Dagon chuckled coldly “What other choice did we have? Yes we ate them, not just that. We farmed them, the weaker Demon races were subdued and forced into becoming cattle.” His grimace returned as his gaze fell down to his still clenched fists “I still remember my reincarnation there, I was one of the first to die during the battle for Tempres therefore I was also one of the first to reincarnate into Nox’s plane of darkness.
The sudden hunger and thirst. The weakness engulfing my entire body, the sickness driving me to the ground. The insanity that followed.”
Most would have stopped questioning Dagon by then, Birse included nudged Kyle to cut it out but…
“I must agree then, with your cause that is.” stated Kyle as he continued his acting, a disgusted façade over his face to gain the Devil’s trust.
Dagon looked back up at him “And I do not blame you for your feelings of disgust, we disgust ourselves. The things we did to survive, all for the hope of returning…for the hope of vengeance.”
Kyle turned his expression into a stern façade as he stepped towards Dagon “You have every right, what they did to you is beyond morality. Now here you are however you did get out, only a wall and a small army between you and gaining it.” He gestured back towards where Helix was.
“The wall of mana isn’t what stands in our way, it’s the men defending it.” said Dagon followed by an exasperated sigh. “Our legion is broken, cut off from supply and reinforcements. The other legions are too busy with the Elves and the Dwarves to come to our aid of their own volition.”
Birse stepped back, leaving Kyle to do his thing (“Dwarves? So, as I thought…”).
“That is why we can help, we do not want the Elves in power and we’ve definitely had enough with Esfelt and their alliance!” Exclaimed Kyle with dramatically open arms “As a sign of good will we haven’t tempered with you other than giving ourselves privacy, you accepted to guide us through the barrier and set up a meeting with Lucifer but that doesn’t help us enough.
Dagon we need you to help us speak with Lucifer, the problems that have gone on between us may be too much for him to overlook. We need a neutral party to aid us, else I’m afraid he won’t accept our help.”
Dagon studied Kyle with scrutiny, he saw an almost stern expression with plea and worry mixed in. “I have a condition.” said Dagon after seeing no hostility within Kyle’s expression.
“All you need to do is ask, if it is within our power and doesn’t cause any of us harm.” Kyle replied as he glanced back at Birse who nodded.
Dagon looked at Draxxer’s immobile appearance “Give him to us, I will then give you my full support.”
Kyle also looked at Draxxer, the man being nothing more than Lilior’s puppet. Unless Lilior allowed it then nothing and nobody could remove a soul from a dungeon without destroying the dungeon and fully freeing that soul. Kyle being the Dungeon Lord had a certain power of Lilior, making Draxxer his puppet’s puppet.
“We agree to those terms as long as it doesn’t mean handing over our dungeon.” said Birse as he watched for Dagon’s reaction.
Dagon nodded “Fa- Lucifer can bend the man’s soul, we have no need for a dungeon. Although our military prowess would indeed flourish from having one.” He then mused while gazing at the core.
“I am the Dungeon lord, with us on your side makes the Dungeon part of your military.” declared Kyle with a friendly smile.
“Then it is agreed.” replied Dagon as he wore a stern expression to hide the pain that came with his memories, “I Dagon Venus forward my full su-”
The carriage suddenly trembled violently sending everyone except Draxxer and Dagon tumbling over, the dungeon core remained immobile.
Your golem [Slimaffalo] has been slain!
Raid member [CHfarms] has been killed!
“The fuck was that?!” asked Birse as he kicked Soren off him and stood up.
Ch respawned in a dim flash of blue light next to the core “Guys, we might have a small problem…”
“Shit! The cloaking!” declared Steph as she quickly stood back up and began re casting, Seren, Woody and Death also joined in.
“What happened? I don’t detect anybody close by!” asked Kyle as he held onto the bench to pull himself from the floor.
“Well…” Ch’s expression was slightly pale.
Suddenly a voice reverberated through the carriage from the outside “I Lilith Venus, first daughter of the Demon lord and First sin Lucifer, demand you come out!” a young female voice declared angrily.
Dagon took a deep breath “It’s her…” he muttered calmly, he looked at Kyle “Dungeon lord, allow me to move outside the carriage and speak with her.”
Kyle nodded and rushed to stand then to the ladder that took to the carriage’s second floor, another ladder lay in the middle of that floor. Quickly he climbed up the ladder followed by multiple others, Birse, Sly, Soren, Cherry, Ch and Skill followed up behind him.
As Kyle dashed to the edge of the roof Dagon appeared beside him. Down below where the griffin and his golem once stood was a crater of gore.
Blood, feathers, slime, pelt, limbs and organs were scattered across a splatter of a crater, Lilith stood in the middle of that crater glaring up at them. A young female- about thirteen in age- with milky white skin, long braided black hair with strands of green, pitch black eyes, two black stubs for horns and a short devilish tail.
Lilith wore a long sleeved plain black dress that reached down to her feet, the sleeves continued on into black gloves with a green scythe knitted into the wrist similar to the green scythe design on her black shoes or the giant green scythe resting on her left shoulder while she held onto it with both hands.
The scythe was made entirely of bones, the pole a giant spine and the blade a sharpened shoulder-blade of equal size and unnatural length. It glowed with a bright green aura that seemed to be contained within it rather than flowing outwards as it was it’s nature to do.
Upon seeing Dagon she grimaced “For killing my sister and brother then banishing my sister’s soul. You shall resign your lives to me. Release Dagon and I will kill you less slowly than I would otherwise!” she twirled the scythe to her side as if the colossal weapon weighed nothing.
Dagon stepped over the edge and fell down to stand in front of her “Miss Lilith please calm down, my soul is well and so is your body’s brother. They aren’t to blame for Abaddon’s demise and you know well who is to blame for your body’s sister.”
Sly felt his face pale as she briefly glared up at him then moved to study the others “I think they care for their bodies more than we initially thought…” he whispered to Birse.
Lilith faced Dagon again “Doesn’t change the fact that their dungeon enslaved both you and Abaddon, how are they not to blame?”
“This dungeon isn’t the same one that enslaved miss Abaddon, I questioned the short ones, it was an undead dungeon that did so. You can check for yourself, this dungeon contains no Dread.” Dagon explained, his expression also slightly paler than usual.
Lilith’s expression seemed to cool down, along with it the aura emanating from her scythe dimmed “And your enslavement? I care not for Legion’s failure like father does, but enslaving a Devil no matter what bloodline is a direct insult to us all.”.
The green aura around her scythe began to shine brighter causing Dagon to flinch “It was all a misunderstanding.” he urged on.
The aura dimmed again “And the insult to our lady?” she then asked.
“Her majesty went too far with her speech, another misunderstanding ensued causing the dark hero to fall for a soul wail due to her actions. You do remember lord Belial’s affliction at the loss of his companion? A similar occurrence.” Dagon explained calmly.
With another twirl the scythe dissipated into green smoke leaving Lilith’s hands free, she crossed them and continued to ask “Hmph, very well. Then why are they here?”.
“The dark hero of Frost and Devilling hero of dagger.” As Dagon spoke those words Lilith was the one to flinch “Along with their comrades, have offered to join our cause. They also bring a gift, the soul of the old hero of the blessed blade.”
“And information about what the alliance plans to do next.” Birse cut in.
Lilith glared up at him “Hmph! I did not ask you, human, did I? Refrain from barking your vile crevasse at me.” She looked back down at Dagon and considered their words as Sly and Soren pulled Birse out of sight while holding his mouth shut as he tried to talk back.
“You trust them, Dagon?” she then asked sternly.
Dagon glanced up at them, Sly, Soren and Cherry barely visible while holding Birse down. “Trust them? That I do not but not because they aren’t worth my trust. That they are, from what I’ve seen they are selfish but not as individuals.
They are selfish as a group as they look out for themselves no matter the cost, be it the death itself. That makes them worth my trust. Yet I do not trust them and that’s solely because they have proven themselves untrustable through their pinpoint conceit and intellect. I believe trusting them is a wager but a wager with a hefty outcome.” He looked back at Lilith “I will wager on them, the outcome be it whatever it will be.”
Lilith scrutinized Dagon for a couple long moments, she then frowned and squinted as her mouth trembled.
A slightly high pitched but wholehearted laugh left Lilith as she leaned over and held her stomach. It was moments later that she regained her composure, as she wiped a tear off her eyelashes Lilith faced a baffled Dagon and company.
“Very well then, I shall take you up on your wager. Let us see what father thinks of it. Adventurers, Heroes.” She called out to them while turning around “Continue on but thread carefully, I do not stand a comparison to a mortal sin.”
As Lilith walked away Kyle inspected her after he snapped out of his daze of fear and shock caused by her sudden outburst of chilling laughter.
{Devil} Lilith Venus (Devilish Reaper) (First of morning’s star) [Level 224]
He almost tripped off the carriage at what he inspected, Lilith was even higher level than Abaddon who was weakened by dungeon’s enslavement. They had barely held a candle to Abaddon’s sheer strength and had to resort to numbers and unorthodox methods to defeat Dagon who was even lower level.
And Lilith had just said that she didn’t compare to a mortal sin, which made Kyle wonder not just how powerful this Lucifer was but how powerful the Elven empire was to hold their own against multiple Devils.
“Uhhh…So how do we move the carriage now?” asked Ch as he pointed down at the carnage.
Lilith stopped moving and her shoulders slightly rose “You can push it yourselves?”, her face was blushed as she continued to walk away.
Dagon sighed and look up at them “Tell the nutcase to do it, his Demonic form can easily push this light weight.” he told them before disappearing.
“Wait what!?” exclaimed Sly as he rose up from the floor after being knocked down by Birse, who seemed to have calmed down.
“Nah Soren and Cher can help out too, you’re all our strength builds.” said Birse as he gestured for them to move, “Come on boys, we need some beasts of burden.” he wore a wicked smirk making Kyle wonder just how calm he actually was.
