Chapter 47 - Chronicles of Heavenly Demon IV, Destruction of the Edea Life Tree II
The Edea Life Tree stretches more than one-fourth of the entire southern continent. Rich resources that hadn’t been exploited by outside forces due to the great war that was the Omen Campaign, however, Dario was going to make sure that Ouroboros would be under his palm before the Serdian Civil War would conclude. The reason was simple.
There are no big Superpowers in the southern continent like Arcadia, Holy Anima Theocracy, Bahamut State, and the Beastian Autocracy, all worldwide governments. This one fact about Ouroboros made it the ideal continent to conquer first above all else.
With that said, Parsifal and a generous contingent of Undead forces were marching to the Edea Life Tree. From the horizon, the towering tree could be seen from a great distance while trekking the continent’s largest granary. The scenery of the massive golden wheat field amazes the eyes, so much so, that having a lavish meal for everyone was possible.
The Elves have been working hard, huh? Keke. When Dario had fully assimilated into the dark (yang), his Sith Familiars and subsequent Undead have been greatly influenced. It was apparent that Parsifal had wanted to steal such resources. “Are you related to them?” Parsifal asked Grimjaw if he had ever met the woodland Elves of the Edea Life Tree.
“No. I had traveled a great distance a few hundred years ago and settled in the Great Steppe Valley,” Grimjaw was not a native to the southern continent. He is from a forest similar to the Edea Life Tree, albeit, in the far western continents. It’s probably been half a century since the Great Steppe Valley was controlled by the Robber Baron King. However, Grimjaw is indeed a descendant of the Edea Life Tree.
“Then, do you have any qualms with slaying your kin?” Parsifal spoke respectfully when addressing a sensitive matter.
“Hmph,” the golden-haired Elf smirked. “Not at all.” Quite a cold-hearted remark but not entirely expected, after all, Grimjaw is the Robber Baron King.
“Fortunately, the Sith Lord has relayed his thoughts and that there will be no more additions to the Undead Legion.” In other words, Dario had set the precedence that it was expedient for the enemies to submit to the will of the Omen Sect rather than completely massacring the enemy and turning them into the Undead. “My Master says he does not wish to rule the land of the dead.”
“Then we just have to show ourselves, no?” Lord Auriel questioned for the first time. His words let on to a more profound meaning. And, it was a simple one to understand.
“A show of dominance, huh?” Parsifal replied a question with a question. Quick on the uptake, Parsifal followed with another, “I doubt the woodland Elves would concede. Such people who tend to World Trees are often fanatics.”
“Heh!” Auriel chuckled. “Quite so!”
“We’ll show our superior quality by cutting their forces by half,” Parsifal’s hair moved with the wind.
“Or we could defeat the Monarch of the Edea Life Tree,” Grimjaw intervened.
“There are two of them,” Auriel interjected.
“Oh?” That piqued the interest of the group. Parsifal initiated, “I’ll bite. Will you enlighten us?”
“Of course, the Edea Life Tree will defend itself from hostile forces.”
!
“Hmph!” Grimjaw scoffed. “Will that huge tree really fight us?” Parsifal was intrigued.
“The character of the seed will indicate exactly the functions of the World Tree,” Lord Auriel had exclusive knowledge of how World Trees are made and where they come from. “From what I remember, the Edea Life Tree produced a ‘spirit’ born from the earth, wood, and air.”
“I’ll be facing that ‘spirit’ thing,” Parsifal instantly knew where his place was to be in the upcoming battle.
“I suppose that leaves me with the World Tree,” Auriel followed suit.
Grimjaw also knew who he would face: “That leaves the other ‘Monarch’ to me then?” Thump. Thump. The heart of the cold-blooded robber baron began to race. A rather rare instance for someone like him who only cares about money.
“Try to keep that ‘Monarch’ alive, will ya?” Parsifal commanded Grimjaw to mitigate the loss of someone valuable like a Monarch.
“Teh!” Grimjaw scoffed, “That’s assuming they all won’t die trying.”
“Keke!” Red John who is leading the footed soldiers was following behind the influential figures.
“We’ll find out right now won’t we?” Parsifal was the leader of the Undead Legion deployed to Ouroboros and stopped in his tracks. The elite group behind him also came to a halt.
The long conversation was that they had already reached the entrance of the Edea Life Tree and were met with an army of Elves and various species. With a discerning eye,
“I’ll start it off!” Parsifal pulled his magick bow styled after a devil’s wing and razor-sharp claws, Ebonwing. Its bewitching and alluring shape is a testament to the perfection of refining Ebony through infernal flames.
“Aurora Breath!”
Magick Bow: [Aurora Breath]
-Buffs the entire party with “zeal” for a short duration. Inspired by Aurora Realm and ‘Zeal’ from Azad and Jinn respectively.
-The entire party will be invincible and will be able to use Limit Break.
Rank: EX Proficiency: 120%
Parsifal shot a holy bolt upward which shortly transformed into a net of buffing energy. A light glare was permeating as if a mist was around their bodies.
“Charge!” With that last command, the Edea Life Tree had become hell on earth.
***
Grimjaw was walking up a spire by himself as the outer woods was where most of the fighting was contained. How quaint. The Robber Baron King was tasked with subduing Cross Linfey, the Monarch of the Edea Life Tree. He is a pureblooded Fey (Elf) with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and elegant armor called Valiant Mail which is silver, gold, and blue, and a black bodysuit. Hung at his hips were twin blades crafted from Star Metal.
Much is known about the Monarch of the World Tree in the southern continent, King Cross Linfey. A very skilled fighter of both the bow and dual swordplay, Cross is a long line of Edea Royalty since the inception of the World Tree. Being from such an esteemed bloodline, his power was enough to threaten the neighboring countries to never enter the Edea Life Forest.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
However, there was someone who could threaten the powerful Fey, “Grimjaw.” Cross had a cold and deep tone that resonated with evil, and hatred. “What has become of you, Golden Baron King, to emit the energy of darkness?!” The Monarch pulled his bow from his back and manifested Aura Arrows, “Filthy Undead that dares to enter my forest!!”
Unlike most Elves, those who are identified as “Fey” in the Fairy species are the pureblooded variants and are classified as being ‘holy.’ In effect, such individuals in the Fairy species are treated as royalty and are instantly thought of as leaders, chieftains, and monarchs. Not just that, but they are exponentially more powerful than their “watered-down” relatives.
With swift and fluid movements, the dual blades were an extension of his very being. A whirling dance of Star Metal under the blazing sky. The strikes were a mesmerizing blend of elegance and lethal intent, each swing a testament to years of relentless training.
On the flip side, Grimjaw was parrying every single one of those attacks. Truly, the Elves were not to be underestimated, but, the Golden Baron King was a descendant from the Eldar Elves, another of the pureblooded Fey species. Secretly, Grimjaw was the Elvhen child who swallowed the “Golden Greed Seed” that was to be planted in the far Western countries. That alone was enough for him to keep up with Cross Linfey.
Every single piece that Grimjaw adorns is Legendary-Rated, including his golden armor and golden sword. Conversely, Cross is more heavily equipped with his ‘holy’ armor exclusive to the Fey and is fitted to lead an army on the frontlines.
As the clash of metal clanged, Cross Linfey became a force of nature itself - a tempest of Star Metal that left Grimjaw bewildered.
“Moon-Swirling Storm!!!”
Dual-Sword Techniques: [Skill - Moon-Swirling Storm] -Swings the weapons at supersonic speed. A classic move for the Monarch. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
“That’s more like it!!” Grimjaw was the character who finds absolute thrill in fights, especially, if it was a complete conquer. How long has it been? To feel alive! “Auric Parry!”
Sword Techniques: [Skill - Auric Parry] -Imbues a shimmering barrier of golden energy capable of deflecting incoming attacks or projectiles. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
This was how Grimjaw, known worldwide as the ‘Robber Baron King’, had lived for so long, considering that his face is wanted in many nations. It was because of his spectacular defense which was considered to be the best, not only with that golden armor Artifact, but, also with swordplay.
KACHING!!!!! The thousands of moonlight slashes glinting its movements came to a complete halt as it was parried with Grimjaw’s golden parry. It was a perfect reply to a bewildering attack that looked like it could slash an entire army.
“Not bad!” Cross Linfey was getting warmed up. “Try this!”
Holy Aura Techniques: [Dual Moon Cry] -Synergizes holy Fey energy with the Star Metal and manifests a supernatural dual-wave that causes devastating damage. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
Due to the special trait of Cross Linfey being a purebred of the Fairy species, a Fey, his energy is far superior. When the holy aura wave was unleashed, Grimjaw felt the difference in strength.
!
This could get dangerous! A single drop of sweat dropped from the side of his face, yet, the adrenaline poured all at once. “Solar Cleaver!”
Golden Aura Techniques: [Solar Cleaver] -Gathers golden energy into a weapon and releases a devastating cleaving strike that sends out a radiant shockwave, damaging enemies in a cone-shaped area. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
KABOOOOOM!!!
Both of the attacks met and destroyed one another in a fight of brilliance. A vicious attack. He’s getting serious. Grimjaw was always on the defensive, “Let’s switch up the tempo!” The Golden Baron King smoothly sheathed his sword and reached his bow strapped to his back.
“Golden Starshot!” It was one of his faster moves that initiated quickly.
Ultimate Techniques: [Golden Starshot] -Taps into the apex of golden energy mastery, manifesting an Aura Arrow whilst condensing energy to unleash a piercing Golden Radiance wave that devastates foes in a linear path. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
Contrary to how things were occurring during the battle, Grimjaw played on the defensive side while Cross was steadily gaining momentum with the offense, yet, the Golden Bow Saint put an immediate stop to that with an Ultimate Technique that had a short-cast time.
“Damn!” Cross Linfey didn’t have enough time to counterattack and was left with dodging the speeding Ultimate Technique instead. Using his footwork, the Fey was able to evade the attack by a hair’s breadth. “You bastard!” Reaching his hand into a holy portal, a pearly-white magick bow was pulled out. This was the sub-space created by the Fey in which ‘storage’ was a precious thing for Mages.
Ultimate Techniques: [Heaven’s Tear] -A holy magickal bolt that when unleashed is as fast as the speed of light. Reduces the user’s HP to 1. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
The attacks so far have not destroyed the flat wooden stage on which the two were fighting, only, such techniques were specifically chosen to perform on such a stage. However, that all came to an end with this attack.
“If that’s how you’ll play it!” Grimjaw lamented. The battle is growing to an end. Cross Linfey had good reason to defeat the Golden Baron King as swiftly as possible, but, they were evenly matched. The Fey did not hesitate any longer and proceeded viciously.
Ultimate Techniques: [Goldus Beryl] -Infuses Gold Aura shield in a hexagonal formation creating a honeycomb defense. Negates all physical and magical attacks for a short duration. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
On top of being a Bow Saint and a Sword Saint, Grimjaw was more of a defensive character. The basis of his long survival has always been the fact that Grimjaw had an abnormally high defense, and now, resurrected as one of the honorable Sith Familiars had strengthened one of his weaknesses. When Grimjaw had felt the new energies such as The Final Purification Method and the Dragon Heart, the ‘explosiveness’ that was lacking had finally been solved.
The two Ultimate Techniques collided and Grimjaw stood unattested, the golden defense was superior against the heavenly bolt. It was then that Cross Linfey and Grimjaw revealed all of their cards in the heat of battle, one technique toppling another. They were almost identical in terms of power, however, due to the recent revival of the Golden Bow Saint had placed him a few steps ahead of the Edean Monarch. Still, the battle could go both ways.
Which will prevail, the avarice of ‘greed,’ or, the ‘holy’ Elvhen Monarch?
