Undaunted Class Light Cruiser

The Undaunted Class was the first standard IFC light cruiser design. It was built as a multi-use vessel, able to both serve on a battleline and escort auxiliary vessels.

To save on time during the design process and to simply material procurement, several destroyer engines from the US designed King Class were put together into engine clusters inspired by the French designed De Grasse Class light cruiser.

The class lacks a spinal railgun seen on most other IFC warships, instead focusing on turreted guns and missiles. This is in part due to both the fascination with ASM missiles in the IFC high command after the unification and the desire to have the vessels be capable of firing at targets while actively manoeuvring. This, however, means the ship lacks a kinetic weapon capable of effectively dealing with capital ships, with the ships instead relying on their missiles for their heavier firepower.

To help in escort functions the ships are built with small bays for improved US designed M-3B “Spiker” EWAR drones. These drones are smaller than the A models used on King Class destroyers but have the same functionality.

So far ten have been ordered as of 2029 with more on the table.
