Interim Chapter - Caelypsus Religion

Origin myth

Out in the blackness of space is High Haven. High Haven is the home of the angels, and the god Ifcan and Chin. Ifcan is the god of unity, freedom and order. Chin is the god of disunity, oppression, and war. One day, a great war to end all wars broke out between the two gods and their angels.

Near the end of this war, Ifcan sent out the sky arks, filled with his angels to find new lands, and to make sure that no matter what, Ifcan’s followers would live on. But there is a god living in space, the god of space, The Void. They are the mother of all, sleepy, but dangerous. As the sky arcs passed through their domain, The Void cast their hand over, scattering and damaging the arks, sending on back in time and crashing it into Caelypsus.

As the rest of the ships arrived, they had found plants from High Haven had spread across the planet, but the angels on that ark had suffered. They had degraded and lost their light, and as the other angels now on the planet started to degrade, the one-eyed prophet came.

The one-eyed prophet, who had lost their eye to The Void, spread their words of wisdom to the angels that still retained some of their light and gathered them together to subjugate the fallen angels. The fallen angels then became the peasantry, following the one-eyed prophet’s teaching to maintain what little of their light they still have. The ones with large amounts of their light still there became the nobility.

Two additional lasting consequences of this is that all high priests and prophets pluck out one of their eyes in a ritual, and secondly, there still is an order of knights loyal to the religion, bearing the banner of the one-eyed prophet.

Gods

There are a few levels of deities. The first are the gods, then the spirits, then the high angels.

Chin

A bastardisation of the exaggerated memories of China, though it is representative of the entire independent league. They are the god of Disunity, Oppression and War. They are hated and its believed that their angels may come and try to trick people in believing that they are the angels of Ifcan.

Boeig

Boeig is the spirit of building and craftsmanship, with their name being based off of Boeing, the manufacturer of one of the ships in the colony fleet. They don’t interfere much but if they are pleased they will help a little in people’s engineering and crafting exploits.

The Void

The “Mother of All” is the god of space and is the origin of all. They don’t have much influence over worlds and are quiet, but is incredibly deadly when they decide to act.

Christopher the Loyal

He died in battle without having any children while saving the prophet. He is the patron of loyalty and a figure many knights and soldiers pray to. Some noble families claim lineage from him, but due to him having now children all of them are impossible.
