My name? That is of no importance as no one else knows it anymore. I lived a peaceful life with my family and my people. That is until tragedy struck. First we lost our light, our guide in the darkness and then, everything else. Since then I as one of the few survivors have sworn to avenge my fallen people. I will kill the monster that did this or die trying, that is my conviction.
Since then a long time has passed. Eight years in which I left my home or at least what was left of it. I have fought many beasts and suffered many injuries as well. My scarred body is proof of all the trials I have gone through and yet I don’t feel confident of my skills. Even the best of our warriors were nothing against it while fighting together. Then what could I do alone?
I know this is a hopeless endeavor but I have to do this much. Sometimes I think of home and wonder how the survivors are doing. Last time I went back home they were doing well, the population had risen back to what it once was. What I did notice was different was that my fellow brethren were smaller or maybe I was larger? It does not matter.
As of now I have decided to finally go find that monster and kill it or at least try. I can already feel myself approaching my limits. If I don’t fight now then it will be too late as age will catch up to me and then my strength will wither away.
Ever since I swore to take revenge I have been able to tell where that monster is somehow. Call it a gut feeling or whatever but I am a hundred percent sure it is right. Now that I have finally made my mind it is time to follow my instincts and find that monster.
The days flew by as I made my way forward. It wasn’t easy I must say, there were truly strong monsters which I couldn’t fight at all and so I had to opt for a stealthy approach. Sneaking by while praying they wouldn’t find me was all I could do but I am not ready to turn back just yet.
Through forests, plains and even mountains I continued my relentless pursuit of vengeance. Unfortunately for me, this gut feeling didn’t tell me how far my objective was so I didn’t know how long this journey would take. Another problem is that it points in a straight line so I will find myself walking truly difficult terrains. Even so I will not falter, not now, not ever.
Another sunrise and another sun set. Time continued as I did as well. Sometimes I wondered if I would ever reach my goal or if all this effort was for naught. I wanted to give up many times even so here I am pushing forwards.
Finally, After so long I felt something different for my gut. A warning maybe? But it was different. That's when I knew I was close to my objective. I began sneaking in the direction I felt it was. Then I saw her accompanied by another two humans. My blood began boiling with hatred and so I made my attack.
With my powerful rear legs I jumped aiming my horn at her flat chest. I felt a chill run down my spine as I thought of that last part but I paid no attention to it. What mattered now was this fight. I do not understand how but that human monster managed to dodge my attack but I wasn’t finished just yet.
Extending my front paws I extended my claws and grabbed her face. I could feel my claws digging into her skin as I brought the rest of my paws to continue scratching her face. I also bit her nose with all my might. My next attack consisted of stabbing her eye with my horn but that never happened.
I felt a heavy hit on my side that sent me flying. With a thud my body hit the ground while rolling a few times before stopping. There was no air in my lungs as all of it had been punched out. Even so I stood up and looked back at my mortal enemy.

“Motherfucker!”
“Amelia are you alright?”
I didn’t understand a thing of what the humans were saying. Even so I felt proud of the little damage I had done, even if it was being healed right now. I wanted to continue with my offensive but now one of the humans stood in front of me with a sword in hand. However, before she could attack my nemesis spoke.
“Tiffany, this pest is mine”
With that the woman looked behind before moving aside with a complicated expression. My nemesis stood up with her hand on her face as blood dripped down her chin. The wounds were already gone but the blood that had been spilt was still there.
Slowly and somewhat gracefully she lifted her hand combing her hair with it despite the blood. Her eyes opened slowly to show a terrifying sight. The whites of her eyes were pitch black as if I was staring at an endless abyss. The only things that existed within said abyss is a pair of bright red suns.
“Let’s see how long you last you fucking pest”
Once again I couldn’t understand a word but I could feel her anger in it. The next instant a searing heat approached me as a ball of fire twice my size flew from her palm aiming at me. I moved out of it’s way before I could even think about what had just happened. However, in the next instant a sharp pain coursed through my body.
That human had kneed me on the ribs while I was airborne after dodgin the fire attack. The pain I felt told me I had at least two broken ribs. Even so I wasn’t about to give up. I flew towards a nearby tree and managed to position myself so I could jump from it. I felt my legs scream as I used everything I had to propel myself towards my nemesis once more.
My horn pointed at her head. I dreamed of the moment it would pierce her brain and kill her, a moment that never came. She managed to easily grab my sharp horn with her hand. I thought it was a foolish move as her digits would be cut but that didn’t happen. Instead the force with which she grave my horn shattered it sending a sharp pain straight into my brain.
I was disoriented by the pain and before I could come to I felt another hit to my ribs. This time she had kicked me and I was sure my broken ribs had now been pulverised. I wanted to once again rotate myself to diminish the damage caused by the impact against the nearby trees. I failed miserably.
My spine shattered as I collided back first against a tree. Before my body could even bounce off the tree I felt another impact. This time It had been a punch and I knew at that moment I had failed. My body was torn in half as the fist continued through it and obliterated the tree behind. Entrails adorned the ground as my upper and lower halves were two meters apart from each other.
I am sorry everyone. I tried, I really did. At least now I will be able to rest.
…
I had just left the city with Tiffany and Sophy as planned. We were walking through the forest when suddenly a horned rabbit attacked me. Of course I beat the living shit out of it but that did little to cull my anger. However right now I couldn’t let it show.
My eyes had turned, I could feel it therefore I couldn’t turn around right now or they would notice. I took a deep breath and tried to calm down while closing my eyes. Slowly but surely I could feel my body going back to its normal state.
“That was a horned rabbit right? It’s rare to see them around here”
“It looks bigger than a horned rabbit though. Maybe a mutant?”
“Doesn’t matter, the little shit is dead”
The first to talk was Sophy while the second was Tiff. Who knew why this stupid pest was here, but I had a gut feeling it had come to mess with me. Really, I wish all of them to disappear.
“By the way, did you know it, Lia? It looked like it had some beef with you”
“No, I didn’t know it. However I hate those pests and I bet they hate me too. Let’s drop the topic it gets me in a bad mood”
“sure”
Like that we began walking again. I wiped the blood off my face with a piece of cloth before sulking a little. If I had been a little calmer I wouldn’t have destroyed the Horned rabbit’s horn. I had picked up the pieces and they had crystalised meaning the horn could fetch quite a sum if it had been in perfect conditions. Now that I had shattered it, its value would plummet.
“Hey Amelia, I heard you were bad at magic to the point you blew yourself up. I didn’t expect you to use a fireball so flawlessly”
“Come on. Just because I messed up once doesn’t mean I am bad at it. Besides, that happened because I used too much mana. So all I have to do is use less, simple”
We kept chatting while walking. Surprisingly enough we didn’t encounter any monsters until we were quite deep. Like that our hunt finally began after a rather weird encounter.
