ch 37

Where to start? Now that I am out of that stupid forest I took some time to survey my surroundings. The ground had a light grey colour with some patches of yellow grass here and there. There were some trees in the distance and is that a cactus? This reminds me somewhat of the first time I came to this world. Well things are different now still, the forest back then wasn't such a pain in the arse and the plain was green and calming, in comparison, this place looks dead and depressing. With a sigh, I began walking forward through this land.

Soon after I began walking I was attacked by a group of rocks, no really, I am being serious here. The rocks began moving out of around me and gathered forming some kind of rock monster. It didn't take long to get rid of but nonetheless it gave me a surprise then. After that more of the same creatures would come my way from time to time, their strength and toughness was something else, after all, they are made of rock. However, they were slow, really slow so I could take my time and break them apart with heavy attacks.

It was about an hour or so after I began my trek through this deadlands that something happened. Voices, panicked ones at that alongside the sound of metal clashing against a hard object. It didn't take long for me to find the source. In the distance, I could spot some humanoid figures fighting a group of rock monsters. Just like the first time I came to this world, I could feel my emotions rushing through me. I could ask them where the hell I am and maybe get a guide! what if they are hostile? then it's killing, leaving one alive with broken legs and arms to guide me.

I know what I said may sound a bit ruthless but after Lizz's death, I came to terms with the implicit rules of this world. Kill or be killed, simple as that, show kindness to those that are kind to you and kill those that want to kill you. In the end, why should I care about the lives of those that want to take my own? If you are going to fight then you should be ready to die, simple as that.

As I reaffirmed this new state of mind I had developed during my years of isolation I ran closer to the fighting group. Now that I was getting closer I could see in more detail what was going on. A group of five was fighting against three rock monsters, however, this rock monsters looked a little different compared to the ones I fought before. The group was having a tough fight and one of the members was already out of the fight lying beside another that seemed to be using healing magic.

The monsters were larger than the ones I had crossed paths with but what of it, the larger they are the harder they fall. With excitement growing within me I unsheathed my two trusty companions while rushing towards the nearest monster, Maybe, just maybe, since they were larger they might be sturdier too, in other words, I may get a good fight! I am not sure when it happened but at some point, I began getting addicted to the rush of battle, because of this I can't help but feel disappointed when the opponent doesn't last.

In an instant, I pumped a large amount of mana into my legs as I had done so many times before during training. I activated overload while throwing Pyrka at the nearest monster with all my strength, of course, I had wrapped the handle in my blood bandages so I could retrieve her instantly. Like a bullet, she flew before impacting the torso of the monster shattering the poor thing into a million pieces. Too weak! what use is it to be larger if you are going to be as weak as before? I grew frustrated because of their weakness, rock is meant to be hard damn it!

With anger growing from my frustration I swung the bandages causing Pyrka to be swung alongside them. The end result of my actions was a spectacular scenery she smashed into the other two monsters making them explode. The battle ended in an instant and I couldn't help but sigh while retracting my blood bandages alongside Pyrka. The stupid monsters in the forest had given me more trouble than these pieces of rock, what a bother. While complaining in my head I walked the remaining ten or so meters towards the group of people that wore astonished faces.

Now that I had the time to properly look at them I also got slightly surprised. As stated before they were a group of five, with two humans, one elf, one dwarf and one beast-kin, quite the varied group. The one that was on the ground was a human female with heavy plate armour and a tower shield. An elf was by her side casting healing spells, or he was until I got here. The beast-kin was holding a long spear pointing it towards me, by the way, he is a man. The dwarf is also a man as for his weapon the expected oversised hammer. Finally, the other human is a woman with a bow in hand.

After the initial shock, all of them got into their fighting positions including the poor heavy armoured woman who was clearly still hurt. Since I wasn't planning on fighting them I decided to try the peaceful method first, if it didn't work then I would just kill all except for one and go for plan b. I sheathed my weapons in a nonchalant manner before speaking, after all, they couldn't win against the rock monsters, what danger could they possess towards me?

"I am not sure where I am but I don't think there is any place where getting into a fighting position is a why to thanks someone for helping"

My tone denoted a bit of arrogance but what could I do about it? In my eyes they were weak.

"Who are you? And what do you mean by I am not sure where I am?"

The one to talk was the Heavily armoured woman, I must admit, she is really good at hiding her pained expression, unfortunately for her I could tell.

"And now you are questioning the one that saved your sorry ass. Whatever, my name is Amelia Bellevie as for what I meant with those words is exactly that. I have absolutely no idea where the f*ck I am"

Yea I need to cool down. I sound like an asshole right now but I really can't help it. For starters, I am still frustrated at the fact both the rock monsters and this little group are so weak! Second, a bit of gratitude after saving them wouldn't be bad. And third, now that I think of it there is no third, doesn't matter am still annoyed.

"How dare you talk to Isab-!"

"Its fine, she is right. First, let me thank you for saving us, Amelia. As for where we are right now it is the death-rock tundra"

The Beast-man began shouting all of a sudden however the armoured woman, who I guess is called Isabel maybe, interrupted him. Death-rock tundra is a fitting name for this place but that doesn't remove the fact I am a hundred percent lost, no idea where that is or how close or far it is from ingracia.

"I see, however even if you tell me this is the rock-death tundra I am still lost. Also, may I ask for your names?"

The gazes of the group changed a bit. Before they were full of caution, now they had concern mixed in it.

"You really have no idea? You know what let's live that for later, my name is Isabelle bulwark"

She said that while walking towards me with her hand stretched out. I say walked but she was limping slightly, obviously trying to hide the fact that she is hurt. Her companions became tens in that instant as their eyes shouted for her to stop. However, they relaxed a bit after we shook hands.

"Well, for now, you should get healed. I can tell you are badly hurt"

In the next instant, she collapsed. This was the obvious result of pushing your body too far, I know because I have done it multiple times already. The elf guy in panic ran to her and began treating her wounds with magic. To begin with, all her wounds are internal since those rock monsters attack by slamming their extremities towards their enemies, in other words, blunt attacks.

From what I could see, her left knee, right hip and left shoulder had been impacted. No that is not right, looking at the tower shield that had been bent here and there her left should's injury was from absorbing those impacts with the shield. However, I could tell that she did an excellent job as a tank as the rest of her group was completely unharmed.

"Sorry for showing such an unsightly performance, it seems this body of mine couldn't take it any more"

"Don't worry about it, it's not a big deal. Anyway do you guys have a map or something, I would really like to orientate myself a bit"

After my words, Isabella nodded towards the human girl. In the next moment, she gave me a piece of sheepskin with a map drawn on it. This map showed the territory of the human kingdom of Valencia. However, if memory serves me right ingracia is in a kingdom called Estrus, moreover, Estrus shares a tiny border with Valencia since it is north-west from it. Even worse is the fact that this tundra is at the border on the other side of the border with Estrus! How far did I travel in that maddened state! this is absurd.

I held the map in my hands with an astonished expression. It took me a while to calm down and after doing so I continued checking the map. Really? no, really? The forest I had just gotten out of was really called maze forest! I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Now you will tell me the wobeli is really called like that. If that is the case I quit I will go back into the forest and stay there until I die!

"so, are you an adventurer to or?"

The archer girl asked with caution. Come on I am not that scary, I don't bite either, much.

"Yes I am an adventurer but I lost all my stuff in the maze forest. Really that place is a pain"

I began shaking my head as memories of the struggle to map the place came into my head.

"The forest! you survived in there!"

"yes, why?"

The jaws of everybody present except for me hit the floor. Why do I feel like things are going to get complicated?
