ch 32

Elsewhere a voice could be heard in a dim-lit room, where a small purplish orb was the only light source. A raspy voice came from the orb as it talked to the person present in the room. A figure with purple hair and eyes, presumably female due to the soft features present in the figure's face not to mention a slim and slightly curvaceous body. The two talked about this and that, something about a report among other things. Finally, the purple-eyed figure talked about something else.

"I've met with this human, she is exceedingly powerful, if left alone she could become a great asset for the humans and an even greater danger for us"

The figure in the ball began thinking about their options. Getting rid of this possible threat would be optimal, however, revealing one of their agents to do so could bring a myriad of trouble their way. As both figures talked about the path they were going to take some anxiety could be seen in the purple-eyed person. The discussion continued until a decision was taken. The purple-eyed agent would take out this new threat.

"We have great expectations for you, do not disappoint us, you know what will happen if you do"

The agent gave a slight nod. Of course, they knew. A spy infiltrated deep in enemy territory, failure would lead to one of two paths. First being killed or even worse, captured by the enemy only to be tortured and then killed. Second, going back empty-handed only to suffer a similar fate as the first option.

Soon after the conversation finished the orb became transparent with a slight purplish tint. The purple-eyed figure stood up and began preparing for the assassination mission. First removing the cloak covering their body to reveal their almost naked body. Now it was undeniable this agent was a female, a very young and beautiful one at that. Her body covered with purplish tattoos that pulsed with power.

The preparations didn't take long. A simple leather armour alongside her cloak. As for weapons, a massive axe was taken out from below some wooden boards. The axe was at the very least twice the size of the girl, with an unimaginable weight, however, she wielded it as if it was made out of paper mache. The axe's blade was a deep black colour with a few scratches here and there, as for its cutting edge it glowed with orange almost as if it was made of melting hot iron. The axe's shaft was made from a dark almost black piece of wood with long grey streaks that made it look like a massive piece of burnt charcoal. Finally, a piece of bright purple leather was messily wrapped around the top and bottom of the shaft looking like some weird and creepy tentacle monster is tightly hugging it.

With everything ready, the girl took a black reinforced steel mask. It had been painted white with red lines that originated from the eyes, resembling blood tears. The rest of the design was that of a mischievous cat, that was ready to stir up some trouble.

Walking outside the girl made up her mind as she took a deep breath of the cold night's air. She despised her job, mostly because she had lost everything to it. Friends, family, even herself. Today would be her last mission, she would make sure of it. With the cover of the night, she dashed outside town onto the dirt road where she would meet her target. With heavy steps, her heart grew heavy as she remembered her past.

A memory of when she was younger began playing in her mind as she tightly clenched the charm her parents had left behind. She is a demon but thanks to this charm she can hide her horns and tail, change the colour of her hair and pupils. In other words, with it, she can look completely human. When she was younger her parents had told her to never, ever take the charm off. She never did, days went past and she grew with other human kids, believing herself as one too. However one day the truth had been revealed to her. Her parents, just like her now, were demon spies.

After that day she grew with fear deeply etched in her heart. If she were to ever be found out she would be killed on the spot, no questions asked. Time went on, she distanced herself from her friends as her parents began to teach her how to be a spy. One day, her parents went on a mission to never come back. Presumably dead or even worse captured. Because of this, she did as she had been told and escaped. Moving to another town only to become a spy there.

She was still young, too young but her parents had trained her too well. After years of completing assassinations, alongside stealing information she had enough of it. Today would be her last mission. She would escape somewhere, anywhere, even if it meant living alone in the forest she would do it. This torture of life had grown too heavy on her. However, the guilt of what she was going to do still haunted her. As she kept walking she made her mind, this would indeed be her last mission, one last life would be lost.

Going back to Amelia's point of view.

I decided to once again walk around the village for no good reason. Admittedly it is a boring village but I feel like I will get in even more trouble once I get back to Ingracia. Well, I would still go back today, I will start travelling back a little past noon. Meanwhile, I decided to take it easy while preparing to travel. First of is food, last time I forgot it, not making that mistake again. Second, well, that would be it, I only need a few snacks to munch on while I walk. If I take too long and it becomes night time then sprinting the rest of the way is still an option.

I kept walking until one of the kids playing around invited me to play. There were still two hours till lunchtime so why not play with them? And that's precisely what I did. I must admit these kids are too energetic, I had to cheat with my soul ability to keep up with their stamina, what a group of little monsters they are. After two hours of nonstop playing tag or hide and seek, I went back to the inn and had my lunch. Orc meat is on the menu again boys! I am so glad I gave the old lady so much orc meat. It's so delicious! like the finest pork, you can get, super juicy and soft, with a delicious and natural saltiness to it. Not to mention the old lady has a godly hand when it comes to cooking! I have eaten it grilled and on soup. Today it's grilled again but with different species giving it a delicious sweet and slightly sour taste, unlike the first one which was spicy.

After thoroughly enjoying my meal I began packing my stuff. Well, I say packing but I didn't bring many things. I two changes of clothes, my toothbrush and a poorly drawn map of the region. Now that I think about it, how the hell did I forget to bring food and water last time if I even remembered to bring my toothbrush? Whatever. As I finished packing my stuff I once again felt that odd feeling like something was going to go wrong. I didn't want to ignore it but what else could I do? Stay in the village another day? and what if it was still there after that. I am not going to settle here you know.

With a sigh, I decided to leave the village. Whatever comes, comes, if I am unlucky enough to get attacked by some powerful monster or something like that guess its just destiny playing a prank on me. However, before I could leave, I was invited by the chief of the village to have some tea. I accepted wondering what he wanted but in the end, he just wanted to thank me and apologise for his son misconduct a few days prior. To tell the truth I had totally forgotten about that.

That wasn't the only delay I encountered to my departure as a lot of villagers wanted to thank me again and see me off. I ended up leaving two hours after my scheduled time, if before it was a bit doubtful that I would make it to Ingracia before sunset now it was a certainty that I wouldn't. Anyway, I decided that postponing my leave anymore would do me no good. If I, let's say went back and tried to leave tomorrow instead, this whole event could repeat.

I began walking without a worry in the world, silencing that odd feeling I have had for a while. Enjoying the view as I kept on walking for hours on end. This time there were no bandits attacking a merchant's carriage. Instead, they were attacking a royal carriage carrying the princess! Just kidding, nothing like that either but I can dream can't I. To tell the truth it was a bit boring not having anything to do other than placing one foot in front of the other. Out of sheer boredom, I began looking at the cloud trying to spot funny formations and stuff like that but the damned things were too sparse and thin!

As time kept passing by the sun began to set in the horizon. As I was thinking of starting my sprint a figure walked out from the tree line. A hood covered their head while a cat looking mask hid their face. I couldn't tell if that person was a she or a he, as the cloak didn't let me see the line of their body, that coupled with the fact their face was covered I couldn't make a guess at all. In the persons back a massive axe of about twice their size rested. It gave me a slightly ominous feeling.

"Amelia Bellevie, you are a threat to us. For that reason, I shall extinguish your life. You can only blame your death on your bad luck"

Do I have the arachnid sense from that arachnid man from the comics of my world?! That odd feeling was right! Not knowing why this person or whatever group they represented I too unsheathed my weapons as they did the same with theirs. I guess a fight is unavoidable. Running? it might be possible but if I do, who says I won't be hunted down again? Fighting is the only option here. However, I don't know why that person seems familiar.
