Chapter 19 - Occurring Dreams that Sadly Remain Untold

Dreams. A certain brunette’s definition of it was overall pleasant. She loved to sleep for the sole purpose dreaming and even the more down sided events of nightmares were strangely welcomed as claimed by the girl. Nekana as she herself knew loved fantasy. The fact of an illogical and what she knew as impossible the girl was deeply attracted. Misunderstand not, light novels and mangas as well as anime did give her a fantasy satisfaction, but dreaming gave the brunette a more special place in this aspect as what rolled was implacably random.

In relation to how dreams are often easily forgettable through some sort of scientific fact that Nekana did not know of, the loss of memory that came in the form of dreams did not apply to Nekana on all occasions.

The more excitable ones she remembered; in example a very untimely zombie apocalypse. At that moment, Nekana found herself in the midst of a heroic looking lot of people. Midday came as that was when hell literally broke lose. The undead came from the doors, the windows and wherever their rotting bodies could manage to fit through. The first round, she naturally knew had begun.

In response to such a situation the girl could not find it in her dream state heart to panic. Instead, she was incomparably calm compared to the bunch of ‘heroes’. But a certain problem was faced by Nekana however and it was that she lacked a weapon of any kind to fend for herself. Nonetheless, she blacked out pretty quick but she wasn’t killed nor was she attacked by any zombies of any kind.

It was like a sense of phenomenon to the dream-state Nekana as the events once again repeated but with an additional preparation time. Using the fortunately given time the girl grew more composed than she first were and went in search of tools in the household that was familiarly hers. Strangely (as if it never were regarding dreams) all the girl found was but a simple butter knife to aid her. Once again midday struck and thus the second (?) round started. Not to mention, an additional party accompanied the brunette as it was even someone she was well acquainted with as well as got along with. Alongside the said person they immediately took to higher ground which was unbearably foolish now that the girl recalled.

The reason was: the pair of people were currently in a HOUSE and to take high ground would be as if one was simply begging themselves to entrap their lives against a wall and thus resulting to an unavoidable death through cornering. Take to advantageous high ground? It was more towards an undoubtedly higher chance of death instead. It might’ve been but a dream through that fleeting moment but the girl was royally disappointed with herself with such ridiculous strategic reasoning and so was her impossibly foolish (and questionable) choice of weaponry. A butter knife, really? No, like seriously.

Nekana sighed as she recalled the ongoing events that’d occurred throughout that night and early morning. Excitable dreams were memorable to the brunette and she’d cease to forget them. Little did the girl knew that in the future would another 3 more dreams regarding the undead would take place once again. It was eventual however and Nekana found it laughably strange as she rarely did involve herself with zombies in particular.

Zombies otherwise, the girl certainly did love the unpredictable ones. An example be an elf, an elite scholar, a girl that found herself lost in a hotel, and one that fell into a tank with man-eating whales (she’d managed to somehow climb out the glass tank however). Such came in so many forms, the dreams were unpredictable it was highly appreciated as Nekana would sometimes add the more creative ones into her imaginative world.

The dreams that she could remember served as an inspiration, something new to serve the days or perhaps the ones to come. But, and most unfortunately Nekana was still unable to keep all of maybe many of her dreams. It may’ve been an awfully excitable dream but that would be all the girl could feel. She would have no recollection whereupon she could only disappointingly accept. The girl couldn’t hold anything against science though.

There were more fortunate times however, that the girl could recollect her former memories. It was only on more special and fresher moments that she would recall fragments or maybe even the whole story line of her dreams through simple acts that were performed in literal dreamland. Everyday object and actions could also touch upon the process. Spoon, forks, sometimes even doing a 1st or 2nd business on that instance of moment would be a possible trigger. Truly mysterious, Nekana would inwardly smile.

Certain events can result to strange realizations the girl concluded. This could be represented through various means, it held double, triple, and quadruple meanings. Never one, but 2, 3, and 4 or more. Too vague? On one affair, the girl had dreamed of dating a guy. Dating another held no suspicious meanings but this however, was awkward. The reason be that the Nekana that night was also a guy. The brunette held nothing against this, instead she was fully supportive but the girl kept mysteriously changing genders in between the occurring dream.

‘Hmm… the guy was kinda attractive though… Can’t seem to recall his face though… Sad.’ so the girl concluded in the end. Which made no sense whatsoever but that was Nekana. She couldn’t find faults within such. Because she consequently enjoyed such an experience. Several days pass, and similar experiences were brought up. As the girl wasn’t conscious of the strangeness to it, when she woke, all she could give was a smile; it was a shallow one. And if the girl weren’t mistaken, the slang term for it would be ‘LOL’ right? Indeed is, the girl inwardly agreed to no one in particular.
