Chapter 17 - Upon Transferring

It was for brief years before the meeting with her best friend Yasmine. Before where she currently was. Nekana was only 7 years old then, nothing changed however; such routines throughout her days merely continued and it was only up until she was 11 years of age did she realize that something was changing. Puberty came, yes. It had its pros and cons but it leaned more towards the cons however. Nekana gave attention towards the raging hormones that ran wildly in her body.

At the tender age of 11, in the midst of year 5 she was going to transfer schools. Skipping a single year and with a quick head start, to year 7. It was here and currently, a moving time ran, unchanging days developed into what was more lively, more so than ever before.

That aside, it started with just the unnoticed fact and slight change of the brunette’s environment. Normally, Nekana took close to no attention for transfer students as there hardly were any to arrive and just as many to leaving. When they did, be it on either of the latter she would just be slightly curious. That’s all.

An image of the unknown, something new was the image that led her mind. It did not occur to the girl at that time, whether the change will lead to a better or for a worse turn in that aspect. She wouldn’t let it cross her mind, as it wasn’t her that was transferring anyways. Besides, no benefits were bestowed upon whilst would she ponder. Anyhow only was it in her land of fantasies whereupon the one she fully indulged herself in was a situation that paved a path of a new school life that was it ever mentioned, a new and unknowing route.

She was going to transfer; the brunette held mixed feelings. She held no closer friends to her heart back then. Reason was not that she did not like company or was unsociable in a few aspects whatsoever but more towards the fact that her classmates and the brunette was just a tad bit distant, that’s all. It was due to reasons no more than but a few, they just couldn’t…? It was but a complex imaginary radar or wave. The signal is just, off.

Predictably so, Nekana got along with her classmates on a level of acquaintances of stationary lenders and on several occasions money. Her classmates, through her point view were just beings that were ‘there’ other than that, no purpose could be served nor seen through the brunette’s ever so rarely cold and calculating eyes. She sounded cruel and ice hearted as opposing to her normally ‘nice’ being.

Despite all, there was only 1 person that she counted above the level of homework or stationary lenders. It was boy that went by the name of Noah, named after the one that saved pairs of animals of all kinds after God decided on springtime clean-up. He as well as 3 other of his siblings were named after the bible, names ones Nekana could not recall. The boy had back hair, sun-tanned skin and a slightly crooked nose complemented his face. In his eyes, there was a simple yet complicated depth that remained untouched. He lacked a father, as that figure had passed when he was between 3-4 years old. The cause: second hand smoking, not the first, nor last victim in such cases.

Did Nekana pity Noah? Deep down, maybe she did. Such was not important, when Noah mentioned of the lack of a single parent all Nekana could give was ‘that so…’ Noah didn’t seem to mind, perhaps already tired of the pity received, a reminder of what was the harsh reality of it. The death of his father, one too early for a father of 4. The brunette recalled of the scene whereas she’d seen the boy cry. He cried as there was a certain male-reproductive like organ of a breathing and a failure of a classmate of Noah’s that mocked the death of his passed father.

Noah described the situation; the boy took news of his father’s death that wasn’t necessarily kept secret and said that if his mother passed next a party would be held. Clearly, if Nekana knew the breathing male-reproductive organ she would undoubtedly punch him. Noah cried, wept in front of Nekana, his tears trickling downwards his face and a red appearance followed. The brunette offered him a tissue, soothed him, to the best she could.

A year later, Nekana gave news of her parting of her school. Even if she held no particular affections towards the school other that the few closer bonds she held, it was still the school she studied in for the past 5 years. A tiny attachment was felt. Noah’s reaction was rather unexciting. He had a stunned expression and a disappointed one. A blank expression came after as his lips trembled a little. ‘Really…?’ an escaped saddened tone came out.

Nekana found it peculiar as normally she’d be the one on receiving end of Noah’s mumbled sentence. But instead, never in her life would she think that such was occurring the other way around. The transfer was nothing special, anyone could dependant on the circumstances. Yet Nekana found it a slightly close yet so far of an ‘opportunity (?)’.

Alas, the brunette grasped the opportunity thus reaching out in the end; resulting the Nekana of today. A thin string of anticipation entwines Nekana's heart.
