Chapter 25: Plans of A Doctor

Chapter 25: Plans of A Doctor

The first rays of sunlight streamed into the cell. Wendy and Dr. Kozaky slowly stirred from their sleep. The events of the previous day and the emotional revelations still lingered in the air, creating tension between them. But as Dr. Kozaky's eyes fluttered open, she was met with an unexpected sight.

Her eyes widened in alarm as she realized that in her sleep, she had unconsciously wrapped her arm around Wendy, holding her in a protective embrace. Dr. Kozaky's face flushed crimson, and she quickly withdrew her arm, her heart pounding with embarrassment.

"W-WHAT T-THE HEEEEEELLLL!!!!!? How did this happen?!" Dr. Kozaky stammered, her voice betraying her flustered state. She frantically glanced around, hoping that no one had witnessed the compromising position they had found themselves in.

Wendy's eyes fluttered open at Dr. Kozaky's outburst, her own cheeks reddening as she realized their close proximity. "I... uh... I'm not sure," she mumbled, feeling just as flustered. "I guess we must have moved in our sleep or something."

Dr. Kozaky let out a frustrated huff, running a hand through her disheveled hair. "This is ridiculous," she muttered under her breath.

Wendy couldn't help but chuckle softly at the sight of Dr. Kozaky's embarrassment. "I guess even tough scientists have their awkward moments," she teased gently.

Dr. Kozaky shot her a half-hearted glare but couldn't hide the small smile that tugged at her lips. "Shut up," she retorted, trying to hide her amusement.

Dr. Kozaky's cheeks flushed deeper, and she averted her gaze"It's not like I meant for this to happen.."

Don't worry about it. Besides, it's not like anyone else saw that."

Dr. Kozaky grumbled something unintelligible under her breath, still feeling flustered, but she didn't push Wendy's hand away. Instead, she let out a sigh, the tension from the previous day slowly easing.

Dr. Kozaky nodded, her embarrassment gradually fading as she regained her composure. "Yes, you're right," she replied, her voice steadier. "We have more important things to worry about.."

The Guard knocks on the cell door

"Wendy, you have a Visitor."

"Hey Guard, you can stay along for this conversation if ye want." A familiar voice said

The Guard nods, following the person inside

Jim entered the cell, his NeoSpacian features were apparent, but there was a striking human resemblance to his form. His eyes held a depth of wisdom and compassion, and his presence exuded a sense of calm and understanding. Wendy looked up, surprised to see him there.

"Jim? What are you doing here?" Wendy asked.

Jim took a deep breath, his eyes focused on Dr. Kozaky."I'm actually here to see this one, not Wendy." Jim said with a stern tone.

Dr.Kozaky eyed Jim warily.

"Dr. Kozaky, I must admit that I am aware of your plans to escape. However, I must warn you against such actions. The guards are way too competent for any plan you can think of, and any attempt to disobey the law would only lead to further complications. "

Jim points directly at Dr.Kozaky and shouts out loud "I KNOW ALL ABOUT YOUR ESCAPE PLAN!"

Dr. Kozaky looked at Jim, her eyes widened in surprise. She wondered how he even knew about her escape plans and what he intended to do next.Jim's outburst attracted the attention of Other Guards , who rushed in to the scene.

"How do you even know about my plans? I didn't even tell a soul about them!"

Jim's expression remained neutral, his NeoSpacian features giving nothing away. "Let's just say that I have my sources," he replied cryptically.

The guard glanced between Jim and Dr. Kozaky, unsure of what was happening. Jim's stern tone had caught him off guard, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for the seemingly authoritative figure before him.

"I must remind you, Dr. Kozaky, attempting to escape will only make things worse for you. The Celeston family holds significant influence in Neospacia, and they won't take kindly to anyone who tries to defy them."

Dr. Kozaky's jaw tightened, her mind racing with conflicting thoughts and emotions. She had been so close to making her escape, to taking back control of her life, but now it seemed that her plans had been laid bare.

"Listen to him," the guard chimed in, his demeanor shifting slightly as he looked at Dr. Kozaky with caution. "He's right. Trying to escape is a futile endeavor."

Dr. Kozaky glared at the guard, feeling a surge of frustration and anger. She had never been one to back down from a challenge, but she also knew that Jim's warning held some truth.

"You don't know what I've been through," she snapped, her voice tinged with bitterness. "You don't know the injustices I've faced because of the Celeston family."

Jim's eyes softened, and he took a step closer to Dr. Kozaky. "I may not know all the details of your past, but I do understand the pain of injustice," he said quietly. "But seeking revenge or acting out of anger will only lead to more suffering."

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Jim continued, his voice stern as he addressed Dr. Kozaky in front of the guards. " These laws are in place for a reason, and it is our duty to abide by them, even when sentenced to death."

As he scolded her, Jim subtly slipped a folded paper into Dr. Kozaky's hand, their fingers briefly touching. It was a well-executed sleight of hand, unnoticed by the guards.

The guard nodded, clearly impressed by Jim's words. "You're right," the guard said, looking at Dr. Kozaky with a hint of suspicion. "You don't want to make things worse for yourself. The best thing to do is to continue to follow the rules and cooperate. There are worse things than being sentenced to death, you know."

Other guards came to watch the encounter once they heard the shout of Jim , and they looked pleased with Jim's involvement. One of them nodded appreciatively. "Well done, Jim! We need more rational monsters like you to keep these traitors in line."

Jim nodded, maintaining his facade. "Thank you. I only wish for peace and understanding between us."

Once the guards were satisfied, they left the scene., but before they were completely gone, one of them addressed Dr. Kozaky with a stern tone.

"Remember what Jim said. Cooperate, and stop being so stubborn and maybe things won't be so bad for you. Maybe they would have pushed your execution back if you weren't always causing mischief around here. That's why we have to keep changing your cells!"

Dr. Kozaky stared back at the guard, her expression unwavering. "I'll keep it in mind," she replied coolly, refusing to show any sign of fear or intimidation. "I just want to see justice served."

The guard scoffed, clearly unimpressed by her response. "You want to talk about Justice, huh? You're in no position to talk about justice, you good-for nothing Treasonous little shit. You should count yourself lucky that you're still breathing after the last stunt you pulled."

Dr. Kozaky's fists clenched at her sides, but she held her tongue, knowing that responding with anger would only fuel the guard's hostility.

Jim stepped forward, his voice steady and authoritative. "Enough of this," he said firmly, his eyes narrowing at the guard. "There's no need for name-calling or threats. We're all here to uphold the law and maintain order, not to escalate tensions."

The guard seemed suprised by Jim's stern response, but he didn't argue further. With a final sneer in Dr. Kozaky's direction, he and the rest of the fellow guards finally left the cell, leaving the three of them alone.

Wendy let out a sigh of relief, grateful for Jim's intervention. "Thank you for stepping in," she said to him, her voice genuine. "They can be so cruel sometimes.."

Jim nodded, his gaze softening. "It's not right, the way they treat you," he said, his voice filled with empathy. "I'll do what I can to make sure you're treated fairly."

Jim leaned closer to Dr. Kozaky, speaking in a low whisper. "Dr. Kozaky, please read this message. It is from Purgus. He entrusted me to deliver it discreetly."

Dr. Kozaky nodded subtly, concealing the paper within her palm. She understood the importance of discretion, and her curiosity was piqued. She would have to find a moment later to read Purgus' message.

Jim straightened himself, giving a brief nod to both Wendy and Dr. Kozaky before leaving the cell and addressing the guards again. "I appreciate your understanding, gentlemen. It is our responsibility to uphold the law, even in difficult circumstances."

The guards nodded, "You've always been a level-headed one, Jim," one of the guards remarked. "We could use more like you around here."

Jim smiled politely, acknowledging the compliment. "Thank you. I'll continue to do my best to maintain order and fairness."

"Indeed good sir!"

Suddently, a guard comes running from down the hall and approached Jim." Sir Jim! We have bad news! There's a Monster Attack going on in the Western city in the Kingdom!"

Jim's expression turned grave. He listened intently to the guard's report, his eyes narrowing with concern."I understand,"

Jim sighs deeply "This is the tenth attack from Monsters this week. It seems the situation is escalating..."

The guard nodded, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation. "Prince Howl specifically requested your presence, Jim. He wants you to investigate the matter and report back to him immediately."

Jim's jaw clenched as he received the orders. He had always advocated for peaceful resolutions between the Monster Society and Neospacia Kingdom. It pained him to see his own kind resorting to violence and endangering innocent lives rather than avoiding the conflict.

"I'll go immediately," Jim replied, his voice tinged with frustration. "I hope we can find a way to resolve this without any further harm."

With a determined nod, Jim swiftly made his way out of the prison

The guards watched Jim's departure, their expressions filled with admiration and respect. They exchanged approving nods among themselves, appreciating Jim's commitment to upholding the law and maintaining order within the prison.

"Jim is a true example of a responsible and sensible monster," one guard remarked, his voice filled with genuine appreciation.

"I couldn't agree more," another guard chimed in. "It's rare to see a creature like him with such intelligence and understanding. He knows the importance of following the rules."

The third guard nodded in agreement, "Indeed. We need more individuals like Jim who can bridge the gap between different worlds and foster understanding. It's a reminder that not all monsters are monsters, and not all Neospacians are saints. This is why this jail is necessary for the Kingdom."

The guards continued to discuss Jim's commendable character, their admiration evident in their voices.

Meanwhile, Wendy and Dr. Kozaky remained in their cell, their thoughts lingering on the unexpected encounter with Jim. His unexpected appearance had sparked hope within them, reminding them that they were not alone in their struggle.

"He's something else, that Jim," Dr. Kozaky mused, a hint of respect in her voice. "He managed to deceive the guards while warning me about my plans to escape."

Wendy nodded, her heart warmed by Jim's gesture. "He's such a cool creature, that's for sure. I never expected him to come and visit us like that."

Dr. Kozaky carefully unfolded the note given to her by Jim, her eyes scanning the message written by Purgus. Wendy watched with anticipation, wondering what Purgus had to say. The scientist's expression shifted as she read the contents

"What does it say?" Wendy asked, leaning in closer to catch a glimpse of the message.

"It's from Purgus," Dr. Kozaky replied, her voice tinged with curiosity

Dr. Kozaky's eyes darted back and forth as she read the message, her brow furrowing in disbelief. Wendy could sense her growing tension as the scientist processed the contents of the note.

"It says..." Dr. Kozaky hesitated with a face of suprise before stating what was written on the Paper

"Wait...is this...true?"
