Chapter 8 Rose School

Chapter 8 Rose School

To Quinn's disappointment, the discussion about the Philosopher's Stone in the Tarot Club sparked interest but yielded no further information.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Queen. If we come across any relevant news, we'll keep an eye out for you," said "Justice," who had received a wealth of knowledge without charge. The other Tarot members, who had also benefited from the information, nodded in agreement.

"Mr. Queen is amazing, wanting to create something as legendary as the Philosopher's Stone. He must be a formidable Extraordinary, right? Sequence Six? Sequence Five?" Justice wondered inwardly.

If the effects of the Philosopher's Stone were as Mr. Queen described, then it must be a Sequence Five... or even a demigod-level item. Wanting to create it means Mr. Queen is at least a Sequence Five powerhouse. Sigh... Alger thought his promotion speed was already faster than most Extraordinary, but the sudden emergence of a mid-sequence powerhouse still gave him a sense of urgency.

Ah... Quinn shook off his disappointment and continued to ask:

"Then, please keep an eye out for any news about the 'Blood Crown.' If you find anything, let me know, and I will pay with equivalent materials or money."

After everyone nodded in agreement, the "Fool" at the head of the table tapped his fingers on the desk and said:

"That will be all for today's Tarot Club meeting."

The infinite illusory gray fog dissipated, and in a flash, Quinn found himself back in the real world, in his underground chamber.

"..."

He looked down to find the small grass he had unconsciously been gripping tightly for a long time. He loosened his hand.

The leaves of the sensitive plant curled up timidly, yet its bent stem still stood resiliently.

Quinn sighed deeply, summoned a large patch of soil to envelop himself and his luggage, and instead of heading to the port, he made his way toward the Harvest Church.

Ruen Kingdom's capital, Backlund, Rose Street's Harvest Church

Emlyn White, having just returned from the gray fog, scanned the room and found the burly, robe-filling Father Utravsky. He eagerly asked:

"Father, are there any more of your... our... people from the Earth Mother Church in the Ruen Kingdom?"

Father Utravsky, who was praying quietly, looked at him and said, "In fact, there is another bishop along the coastal area spreading the Mother God's faith."

"Where did you hear this?"

Emlyn raised his chin and said, "That's my secret."

Father Utravsky said nothing, but suddenly looked towards the open doors of the Harvest Church.

Whoosh! An ethereal fawn hopped in, its patterns ancient yet natural, with intricate antlers like the roots of ancient trees. As it leaped, fresh grass sprouted in its path, and the ivy on the church walls seemed to tremble with joy.

The church's damp, unclean Backlund air seemed replaced by the fragrance of wildflowers and grass, yet the fawn was invisible to the passing congregation.

The fawn held a white letter in its mouth, indicating for Father Utravsky to take it. He took the letter, and the fawn gracefully vanished into the air.

"What was that just now?" Emlyn White asked in awe.

"That was a natural spirit sent by the bishop I mentioned, acting as a messenger," Father Utravsky said while carefully opening the letter.

A messenger? I thought they were usually weird or creepy, but this bishop's messenger is... beautiful. Emlyn mused.

Father Utravsky read the letter privately in a corner:

"Dear Brother Utravsky,

I want to advance but lack materials, so I'm planning to take on a mission to eliminate a Rose School of Thought base. They should have the materials I need, and I can accumulate contributions.

The nearest base is in the southern continent, at Atia-Dadli Port. We can meet at a hotel there.

Will you join me?

Your friend, Quinn Fley"

Father Utravsky's expression tensed up. He walked into the Harvest Church's basement and soon emerged carrying a large, heavy box about 1.8 meters long and as wide as a door. He looked at Emlyn and said,

"From today, you will be in charge of the church's affairs as the acting bishop. You can choose to leave, but make sure to inform the congregation."

"What? What do you mean, Father?" Emlyn White couldn't believe his ears.

Father Utravsky, with a serious expression, continued, "I have to leave for a while."

Emlyn saw the gravity on Father Utravsky's face and the prominent box in his hands. He hesitated but then said,

"Take care."

Father Utravsky smiled, made a prayer gesture, and said, "The Mother Goddess protects us."

He then walked out the door. Emlyn White watched his back, clenched his teeth, and picked up the Book of Life, stepping into the bishop's role.

Inham Coastal Area, Bikini Beach

"If you die out there, I'll uproot everything you've planted in your backyard!" Snor shouted from the church's shadow.

Quinn smiled, waved without looking back, indicating he understood.

Holding a long rod wrapped in white cloth in his right hand, with a patched bag hanging from it, Quinn had changed out of his white Earth Mother bishop's robe and donned a black long coat, resembling a mismatched vagabond, heading toward the port.

"Huh?" A shabby military uniform-wearing old Bob blocked his path. Quinn smiled and said,

"It's just a trip. It's not like I'll meet a demigod. Why are you all so nervous?"

"No lies here."

"Actually, I was lying. I've hardly ever fought. I'm scared out of my wits. If not for the need to advance to a demigod, I'd never go!"

Sigh... Bob's wrinkled, scarred face showed helplessness.

"Take this," Bob handed Quinn a sacred-looking, intricately patterned talisman, about the size of a palm. "Say 'take off' in Ancient Hermes, and it will help you escape."

Quinn was stunned, looking at the talisman and then at Bob.

He gave Bob a heartfelt, grateful smile:

"Thanks, buddy. I won't dilute your life potion next time!"

Huh? Bob's mind was filled with a big question mark. Then he realized:

"You bastard..."

"Bye-bye~" Quinn merged into the ground, swiftly heading to the port.
