Above the boundless gray fog, a grand palace, reminiscent of a giant's dwelling, stood silently.
Twenty-two ancient, heavy chairs formed a circle around a similarly ancient and mottled bronze long table in the center. Out of the twenty-two chairs, only seven had occupants, and Quinn was among them. The mysterious "Fool" sat at the head, lightly tapping the bronze table with his fingers before speaking:
"A new member has joined."
Swish, swish, swish! Before Quinn could observe the other members, he felt several direct gazes land on him, making him, someone who had long been reclusive, feel a bit unnerved.
Then, at his one o'clock position, a tall woman with golden hair but a blurred face stood up, facing the "Fool" and bowing, saying, "Good afternoon, Mr. Fool~"
After the "Fool" nodded in acknowledgment, she greeted each member:
"Good afternoon, Mr. Hanged Man~"
"Good afternoon, Mr. Sun~"
"Good afternoon, Mr. World~"
…
After greeting every attending member, she turned her gaze to Quinn:
"You can call me 'Justice'," she said with a flawless smile.
"Queen... Queen."
Quinn recalled his codename, feeling his face redden under the layers of gray fog. He bit his lip and said, This is destiny... he thought gloomily.
"Queen"? "Justice" Audrey Hall blinked, slightly doubting her eyes.
Even though the figure isn't entirely clear here, "Queen" looks like a male... Did he choose this codename himself? Hmm, thinking like that is impolite. She nodded and sat down.
Using her Sequence 7 Spectator pathway abilities, "Justice" took a subtle look at "Queen" Quinn, gathering plenty of information:
"Mr. Queen seems a bit nervous, which is a common reaction for every newcomer." Her hands were properly placed on the bronze table, "He's fidgeting slightly, like a child being called to the principal's office for a scolding. His accent is very unfamiliar, suggesting he's not from Ruen, more like the foreign guests my father used to entertain."
Here, I am completely new, better get acquainted with the members first... Quinn took the opportunity before the transactions started and while the "Fool" hadn't spoken yet to observe each member.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Justice" seems to be a woman, exuding elegance and poise, with a notable respect for the "Fool" and familiarity with new members, likely an early member of the gatherings. She appears to have a high emotional intelligence, so one should be careful around her, though she likely won't act maliciously given her demeanor.
"The Hanged Man" has bluish hair, reminiscent of seaweed... likely an Extraordinary of the Sailor pathway, but it can't be concluded definitively yet. He seems to have an air of hidden depths, making him rare like a panda among Sailor pathway individuals.
"Mr. Sun"... Ah, he's also looking at me. That direct gaze... seems somewhat naive, or rather, simple-minded, with a vibe similar to protagonists in adventure anime from my previous life!
Quinn smiled at "Sun," who seemed startled but returned the smile.
"Mr. World" looks like he has a debt of thousands of pounds, cold and stern like a villain boss. His expression and movements are almost inhuman, cold and rigid... I'd be scared if he suddenly smiled at me.
"Miss Magician" seems a bit distracted, as if she was dragged here unexpectedly, much like me. Possibly a hidden expert...
"Moon"... Huh? Black hair, red eyes, looks a lot like Snow... Could he be a vampire too? And although his attire is unclear, I can't mistake this—it's a priest's robe of our Earth Mother Church! This...
"I heard Bishop Vladimir in Backlund caught a vampire and planted the faith of the Mother in him. Could it be him?"
As Quinn observed "Moon," "Moon" was also observing him, and upon seeing the slightly blurred Earth Mother bishop's robe on him, "Moon" clearly paused.
At this moment, "Justice" stood up and said:
"Mr. Fool, I recently obtained two more pages of Roselle's diary."
Then, pages of parchment materialized in front of her, and she bowed her head, quickly transcribing lines of text onto the parchment. Her words, however, stirred up a storm of thoughts in Quinn's mind.
"Roselle's diary! Why is the 'Fool' collecting his diary? Could He also understand it? But it's in Simplified Chinese! Could He be from the same world as me?"
A series of monumental questions surged in his mind, making him almost unable to contain his excitement, his gaze involuntarily drawn to the ever-mysterious figure of the "Fool."
The "Fool" Klein nodded internally, "Queen's" reaction further confirmed his suspicion that he was also a transmigrator, though Klein still harbored apprehensive doubts, fearing that uncovering this veil would bring a significant blow.
The "Fool" sat quietly, reading, and seeing that the others had no intention of speaking, Quinn suppressed his inner tumult.
Phew... no need to get excited. Perhaps Simplified Chinese is no longer a secret among hidden existences... he told himself, trying to calm his racing heart.
Soon, the "Fool" put down the parchment and nodded slightly:
"Now, we proceed to the trading segment."
The contents of the trades can reflect the overall level of an Extraordinary gathering. I might not participate, but I should listen carefully. Quinn reminded himself.
As the discussions on entities like the "Elder Tree," "Vampire," and "Mirror Dragon" ensued, Quinn formed a rough judgment.
These creatures aren't too dangerous or eerie, mostly around Sequence 7. As a Sequence 6 "Biologist," Quinn had detailed knowledge of various Extraordinary beings' anatomies and was familiar with most of them.
It seems that aside from its secrecy and mystery, this gathering's level isn't particularly high. With this in mind, he mustered his courage and voiced a request:
"Um... do any of you have any information on the 'Philosopher's Stone'?"
