Erifis
*SNAP*
All at once everything stopped, the lack of control went away and the city shook. A Dungeon Quake on a level unseen in my time, unheard of in tales. Spires of black rock erupting from the ocean along the shores of the island. Forming five pillars of jagged rock in the shape of skeletal fingers.
Then something else happened that was strange, normally the citizens of the world would have to use a skill stone or a reader stone to discern any information about themselves or the world at large. A window appeared in front of me. Judging from the reactions of others in the street it appeared for them as well.
ERIFIS - 345 (1,788 points available)
My name, and I'm guessing that the number is my level. Before I can even wrap my head around the number displayed for points a new bigger window appears.

Some are prostrating themselves and praying to their Gods, others are weeping while yelling at me for guidance. The notifications get longer to the point I can't ignore them anymore.

More quakes, followed by a visible eruption of light, leaving the well by the church at the top of the city, piercing the sky and heavens above. Clouds roil around it, lightning crackling with the excessive energy as the sky turns purple. I sweep my gaze around looking at the motionless Sym controlled Reaper Copies, they aren't ethereal anymore. They are all visible, but motionless. Floating in place like they are won't to do normally, but with so many visible people are worried.
I've never been a fan of large groups of people and Will myself to Teleport into the Dungeon Core Room. I'm surprised when I see the gem of my friend and saviour. It's huge, almost too big to fit in the chamber Thomas spent so much time working on. I'm more surprised however when the girl hiding behind it giggles and starts talking.
"A bundle of untied strings, knotted together with thousands of ends and several paths forward. Your journey is only halfway to the end and I see several more knots along the way. You are strong though, stronger than almost any mortal I've seen in centuries.
She looks at me, her pupils have spiderwebs in them, I'm pretty sure this is the former Goddess Brille. She doesn't look older than twelve or thirteen years. She's wearing a black dress with white frills, like a maid would wear but not quite. It looks more like something I'd expect to see worn by the secretaries of the Guild of Commerce. While she looks small and adorable I do however get a dangerous feeling from her.
"You are close to your own ascension child, I hope you do better than I did. I look forward to seeing how you bend Fate to your will in the future."
After saying as much she simply vanished, leaving me with more questions and no one to talk with for answers. Thomas isn't here, is core is but, it's different. What once was in the shape of a cross is now in the shape of a multiple pointed star. It hurts my head to look at it, when I close my eyes it seems linger in my vision.
With no one to talk to and nothing to do without answers I sit down to wait. Thomas will be back here eventually and I will get the answers I need. The inscriptions under his core have changed somewhat. It still has the wholesome words that brought me pride to look at. Justice right up at the top. In big thick letters but the others have changed places, and new ones have appeared, removing others.
Justice, Determination, Desire, Drive, Vengeance.
These five are etched in the same size. Vengeance is new, and worrying. While determination, desire and drive have all appeared on the plinth before.
Trust, Destruction, Anger, and Death are the next row down. Smaller than the first five, but bigger than the last three which I can barely make out. Destruction Anger and Death are all new etchings. I ponder for a while if ascending to Godhood is driving Thomas, who was already not in possession of all his marbles further down the path of insanity.
Sadness, Loss, Suffering.

This line, all of which are new, and all of which are so small they can barely be seen. I remember Thomas saying once, that the engravings we're things he wanted the most. I don't see Thomas wanting sadness Loss or suffering. I worry for him, I worry for the people above, and I worry for myself as I sit alone in the light of the glowing Core. I hear one of Thomas' songs from another world, it's different, much less harsh sounding but the words of the song are what draw my worry.
I look for Thomas, fruitlessly since the song itself is being emitted from the brightly glowing Core. I shiver as the song ends, noticing that each new song makes the bottom line of engraving grow bigger.

Another song starts, making me wary of just what Thomas might be out doing. I hope he hasn't completely lost his mind. Please to whomever may care, spare his soul.
Eventually the song stops and I cry in the corner of the Core Chamber, until I fall asleep.
