Chapter 49: Sentinel Versus Pro Heroes

Felix Pagonis was never the type to relish in a fight, nor did he enjoy mindless destruction. But he seemed to find himself in those kinds of situations far too often for his liking. The gods truly did not care for his wishes.

He landed in the thick forest of Gunga Mountain Villa with a loud crash.

The first thing that caught his attention was a sedated Gigantomachia strapped to the ground by thick ropes of fabric. He furrowed his eyebrows as he took in the battered bodies of the Paranormal Liberation Front. The heroes had been busy. More than busy, in fact. They were winning.

His eyes flickered to a literal path of flattened trees which led up to a smoking city in the distance. Felix smirked slightly. At least Gigantomachia had put up a good fight.

The boy stretched his limbs in an exaggerated motion, as though preparing for a morning run. Glee was splashed all over his face as he turned his body towards the commotion not too far away. It was time to turn the tides.

The heroes never knew what hit them. All they probably saw was a flash of pink light, and then darkness. Or at least, he’d prefer to think of it that way. Felix looked at the unconscious bodies sprawled all around the ground again.

Nah, maybe not.

“Pagonis is here!” an urgent sounding female voice called out urgently. “Ryukyu to all points, requesting immediate backup! I repeat, requesting immediate backup now-”

Felix cut her off with a psychic punch that sent her hurtling straight into the air.

The female dragon growled, dodging a follow up attack. Felix flicked his hands again, sending a barrage of trees towards his opponent. She dodged them all.

He released a shocked gasp as a gigantic claw squeezed his body. This dragon was stronger than he had anticipated.

“Don’t get cocky, you overgrown lizard.”

Psionic energy blasted from his body, ripping the scaly hand apart. Ryukyu roared in pain as blood gushed out from her shredded appendage. The psychic did not let up, continuing to rain pink spears into her body. Most of them bounced off her tough hide, but some managed to pierce her skin. The dragon swung around in a final effort to swat the boy away.

It was a mistake.

A high pitched roar filled the air, almost sounding as though a woman’s scream was mixed in with the deafening sound. Felix’s eyes glowed fiercely as he wrung his hands in a ripping motion, tearing the hero’s wings off her body.

The unconscious woman crashed back onto the ground as blood began pooling from her now-human body. Felix landed as well, psionic energy pooling in his hand-

“Power!”

Felix cocked his head back from the punch and swatted his hand carelessly. It went straight through the boy’s face.

Phasing abilities?

He scarcely had time to take a proper look at Mirio Togata when he sank into the ground. Felix’s mind worked furiously. There could only be one reason why the caped hero would do that.

The psychic took to the air immediately. Sure enough, his opponent’s body burst out from where he was standing with an unnatural amount of force. It was almost as though the ground was spitting him out.

Felix telekinetically grabbed him, but lost his grip almost immediately as the boy activated his phasing again. He watched his opponent carefully. Intangibility was annoying to deal with, but it was still a psychic-based power. All he had to do was time his counterattack properly.

He charged forward, raising his fist carelessly at the boy. Sure enough, Mirio disappeared before he could reach him. Felix swung around, eyes ablaze with power. This hero might be invulnerable to physical attacks in his intangible state, but there will definitely be a point of contact where his body would be tangible.

The fist slammed into his chest less than a second later as he widened his eyes in surprise. This hero’s strength was almost akin to that of All Might’s.

Felix grabbed the fist immediately, and his mind invaded the boy’s brain. Usually, he preferred to simply telepathically incapacitate his opponent and be done with it. But this time, he only had to do one thing.

He flipped the switch in his mind, forcing the boy’s entire body to return to its tangible state.

Blood splattered onto Felix’s face as he drove a full powered punch into Mirio’s chest. The resulting shockwave burst outwards from the boy’s back, leaving small cracks on a rock behind him.

Mirio’s limp body sank to the ground, blood still leaking from the corner of his mouth.

A flash of yellow struck the villain’s face without warning. Felix clawed the air, only for a surprisingly tough scarf to hook onto his hand. Pink flared once again, and he deflected some small seal-like objects hurtling his way.

The boy defended desperately against the assault on three fronts as his vision blurred. Gran Torino’s movements were a blur, while Aizawa’s close combat skills were frustratingly effective at overwhelming his senses. Nighteye’s seals were the least of his worries, but the man himself seemed to be able to dodge his every move, almost as if he was reading all his attacks like a book.

Felix’s eyes darkened. To hell with going easy on them anymore.

Plastic shattered as he reached out, shattering his teacher’s goggles first. Felix tossed a handful of grinded ghost pepper prepared beforehand into his eyes. The man screamed in pain, letting go of his scarf. Felix swung his hand violently, slamming Aizawa head-first into the ground. The screaming stopped.

Felix flicked a finger, deflecting more seals back at the man, who did not even bother to block them for some reason. Nighteye grunted as the seals struck him cleanly, blasting him away.

“I’ve been meaning to tell you something, old man.” The psychic kept his guard up against the relentless kicks. Gran Torino was moving too quickly for him to get a proper hold on, but it didn’t matter anyway.

Felix stepped to the side and gouged out a column of earth at the same time. The crash that followed was music to his ears. He placed a foot on the diminutive man sprawled on the floor.

“You’re predictable.”

A sickening bone-crunch followed as Felix flicked his hand, breaking both of Gran Torino’s legs off. He took a moment to look at the casualties. A twinge of pain stung his conscience, but he fought it down. Heroes deserve no pity.

“S-Shota, no…”

Felix turned his head to the next hero who had arrived on the scene, whose hair reminded him of a cockatiel’s tuff. He had fallen to his knees, trying to shake the unconscious man awake.

“You…” Present Mic got up slowly. His eyes burned with rage, his body trembling with hatred. “You’ll-”

“DIE FOR THAT!”

The shockwave that followed was astounding. A huge cone of destruction charged towards the boy, ripping chunks of earth along with it. Psionic energy flooded Felix’s body, keeping him anchored to the ground as a devastating sound tore through the entire area.

“AAAARGH!” Present Mic increased the intensity of his yell, disintegrating all the trees in its direction-

“Shut your mouth.”

The sound hero choked as an invisible force slammed his mouth shut. His eyes bulged in effort as he clawed futilely at his jaw.

“Take that voice, and carry it to your grave.”

Felix squeezed his hand vindictively, crushing Present Mic’s lower jaw. There was a weird gurgling noise as the hero stumbled around for a few seconds, before collapsing to the ground as well.

The boy barely registered the three heroes that landed before him. All this pointless destruction was making him feel sleepy. Still, he had a job to do here.

“Now, Midnight!”

Felix leaned back, easily avoiding a fan spinning in his direction. A flash of white followed closely, accompanied by purple gas. His eyes widened in realisation, suddenly remembering what his teacher’s quirk could do.

A pink force field blotted out the sleeping gas immediately as he pulled his hand, telekinetically dragging the woman towards his shield. The collision knocked her out immediately.

The ground warped beneath his feet, and darkness enveloped him without warning.

What the hell?

“It’s airtight!” He heard a muffled voice call out. “Endeavour, roast him now!”

A faint orange glow lit up the boy’s shocked expression. Felix tried pushing himself away from the man who had somehow managed to trap himself with him in the kiln. It was no use. There was nowhere to escape.

“Prominence…”

Psionic energy reinforced the psychic’s aura, strengthening it considerably.

“BURN!”

The fire did not burn. In fact, it felt strangely cooling. Felix heard a strangled scream. It took him a few seconds to realise it was coming from himself. He could feel his aura flickering under the intense heat. It must have been at least four thousand degrees celsius in this earth oven.

Still, the man before him continued expelling the heat. He was yelling, as though the heat was hurting him as well. Memories flooded back to Felix as he recalled how slow Todoroki moved when he overused his ice ability. His eyes sharpened with determination. He could already feel Endeavour beginning to lose steam. This was a fight of attrition, and he wasn’t intending to lose.

“Enough!”

The kiln shattered easily. Felix flicked his hand, sending the screaming Endeavour hurtling into the distance. He turned his attention to the remaining two heroes.

“That. Hurt.”

Cement charged towards him, accompanied by a wave of jagged earth.

The psychic hissed, emitting a pink psionic beam against the combined attack. He smirked. It was obvious that Cementoss and Pixiebob were on their last legs, now that even the Number One Hero’s most powerful move had been negated. And that only gave him another opening.

He snapped his fingers, and a huge psionic hammer slammed into the back of their heads. The two heroes collapsed instantly.

“Saint Louis Smash!”

Felix leapt back just as a huge force punched a crater in the ground where he was standing. He released an exasperated sigh at the sight before him.

Class 1A was here.
