Chapter 48: To Stir Up A Hornet’s Nest

Chapter 48: To Stir Up A Hornet’s Nest

The League Of Villains took their time lounging around in the biggest nomu laboratory Doctor Ujiko had constructed. Despite spanning about the size of half a city, the purpose of this land remained a secret to most of the world, thanks to the many smaller laboratories that peppered Japan.

“I’m getting tired of just sitting around here.” Dabi unfolded his arms, getting up from the wall. “Are you even sure the raid is today?”

“It has been a remarkably quiet morning indeed…” Spinner glanced at Felix. “Also, shouldn’t we be helping out with the Paranormal Liberation Front?”

The radio in their midst crackled to life before Felix could respond.

“Lieutenants, be on your guard. We have spotted a large group of heroes gathered outside our headquarters at Gunga Mountain Villa,” Skeptic said. “We have also received intel that Ujiko’s hospital has also been raided by the heroes.”

A sinister smile spread on Felix’s face. The heroes had taken the bait. Good.

He pressed another button on the radio. “Ujiko, I trust everything is still quiet on your side?”

“Not to worry, Johnny and I are perfectly safe.” The doctor’s voice crackled with relief. “Thanks to Skeptic’s intel and your planning, those heroes are just going to be greeted with my remotely activated nomus when they break into the hospital.”

Felix switched the radio off and turned to his allies, who were all on alert now.

“The heroes have been spread thin, my friends,” he said. “Let’s hit them where it hurts. Next stop, U.A. High.”

Dabi tilted his head in confusion. “If you’re planning to attack the school, why are we so far away?”

“Ah, you misunderstand me. We’re not doing this by ourselves. The mid end nomus here will be helping out.”

It was Compress’ turn to be confused.

“How are we going to transport so many nomus on time?” he asked. “And how can we do that while remaining unseen?”

Felix smirked in response.

“Who said we have to remain unseen?”

The psychic closed his eyes, feeling every material in the laboratory touch his power. Some were weak and brittle; but some were sturdy enough to hold. He took note of them all, feeling his power wrap onto them. Moving the Earth was easy. Keeping it from breaking apart was harder.

A powerful sense of liberation flooded his veins as he began to hover in the air, hands outstretched. After all, he rarely had a chance to let his power a little loose. Felix opened his eyes again, watching the League Of Villains scramble to find something to hold onto. He flicked his hands upwards.

“Rise.”

The sound of metal groaning filled the air. Toga yelped as the room began shuddering as though an earthquake was tearing through it. And then there was silence.

Felix levitated towards the door, gesturing for his allies to take a look as well.

“Seriously?” Dabi barely suppressed a chuckle as he peered over the edge. “Not bad… Not bad at all.”

The entire laboratory had been plucked into the air, leaving behind a huge crater in the ground. Wind rippled his cape as Felix continued lifting two hundred square kilometres of land across Japan. Dark clouds accompanied the floating piece of rock, as if the sight of a small town streaking across the skies wasn’t enough of a spectacle.

“Someone’s got style, eh?” Compress clapped his hands ecstatically, looking at the city below him. “Bear witness to the greatest show in the world, Japan!”

“I’m flying!” Toga squealed, hopping around in delight. “I’m fly- Eek!”

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

She leapt back from the edge as bullets ricocheted off the faint pink force field around the land. Spinner stepped forward, observing the small dots of blue firing their weapons at them to no avail.

“Sentinel, they’re shooting at us already,” he said. “Shall we get rid of them?”

“No need. I got this,” Felix said, casting his gaze to the policemen below. “You humans and your guns… So weak.”

The boy flicked his hand, and faint sounds of men screaming reached his ears a few seconds later. He did not need to confirm what happened; his telekinetic senses had already told him about their bodies embedded in the nearby building walls.

A fortified building came into view soon enough. Felix narrowed his eyes in annoyance. U.A. High was already prepared for his arrival, and there seemed to be no shortage of heroes guarding its entrance. A small part of him regretted declaring war on their school a little too early.

Dust rippled from the ground as nearby civilians fled for their lives at the sight of the growling nomus emerging from the laboratory. Not like they had anywhere nearby to hide though; Felix had already demolished a huge chunk of Musutafu city just to make space for his dramatic entrance.

The psychic slowly floated to the solitary figure standing atop the school wall.

The skies crackled with thunder, its clouds unnaturally dark. Yet, the man remained unflinching, showing no regard to the cold wind buffeting through his clothes. His arms were folded, as though he was still in his muscle form.

But Felix knew better. If he willed it, that man would already be dead by now. All the hero had left were facades and weak bluffs.

“How many times must I teach you the same lesson, old man?” Felix hovered face to face with the hero.

“Pagonis, your anger is completely justified,” All Might said solemnly. “We heroes have made mistakes, and you have lost much in your life. I am truly sorry for all the pain we caused you.”

“I watched my friend’s life slip away before my eyes. I held his hand as he disappeared in front of me,” Felix said coldly. “Do you know what his last words were? I’m sorry.”

All Might cast his eyes downwards.

“It meant… nothing,” Felix whispered, and the sky began drizzling. “I… have nothing left. Do not speak to me of pain, Toshinori Yagi. You heroes have already taken our right to suffer. So we villains will give you what you want. War.”

“Then strike me down, Felix.” All Might’s arms hung limply on his sides. “I am powerless to defend myself now. If you truly believe yourself an irredeemable villain, take my life-”

The man’s body crashed into the dome and tumbled onto a small platform. Faint sounds of shock called out his name from the ground level.

“Don’t get familiar, hero. You don’t even know who I am.” Felix floated down as All Might staggered to his feet. “But I suppose that only makes sense. Not all of us can count on you heroes to save us, right?”

All Might coughed violently, blood seeping out from a corner of his mouth.

“Heroes only help those they know; you only help people like you.” Felix gestured to the League Of Villains. “Those who don’t fit the mould are labelled as ‘villains’ and struck down with extreme prejudice. Hypocrites, every last one of you.”

“Say whatever you want. You’re the one destroying the city and attacking our school. These are innocent people who have nothing to do with our squabble.” The hero gritted his teeth in determination. “We may be heroes, but we’re only human. All we’re trying to do is keep our world safe.”

Deafening thunder crackled as Felix’s eyes glowed fiercer than ever.

“I have been at the mercy of men just trying to keep their world safe,” he said. “Never again.”

The psychic clawed the air violently. Strips of metal ripped themselves from the ground, accompanied by chunks of concrete holding the intersecting gates together. Wind howled as the ground groaned, reeling in pain from the pink energy forcing its way into the impossibly thick barrier that surrounded the school.

Felix squeezed his fist, and his power shredded the reinforced wall into nothing more than dust. His gaze darted to the now exposed school. Hundreds of costumed individuals stared back at him. Most of them were kids, although he recognised a few teachers and some of Class 1B within their midst too.

The sound of whirring metal caught his attention. He turned to the side, just in time to see the last piece of metal cover up All Might’s face. Armoured scales rearranged themselves along his body, almost as they were thinking for themselves.

“If you think we’re just going to be sitting ducks for your slaughter, you’re dead wrong.” Only All Might’s grin was visible through his heavy armour now. “I may not be able to save you for now, but the full might of U.A. stands against you. Don’t you dare step foot in our grounds.”

“Tch, fine.” Felix walked nonchalantly back to his waiting allies, signalling for Dabi to activate the nomus. He flicked his hand, as if tossing a ball of waste paper behind him.

“Burn it down.”
