Chapter 1.5: Parent’s Life Story

~Kai’s Perspective~

My name is Kai Voilong. I am currently living with my beautiful wife, her mother, and our son.

I grew up in a prestigious clan called [Rong of Esemanteiv]. At that time my name wasn’t Voilong, but Esemanteiv. I always wondered what that name meant. The elders told me the story of how the clan was founded.

There was a group of animals that unexpectedly befriended each other. The animals were the following: crocodile, snake, cat, rat, and bird. This was a time before magical beasts existed, so all animals had different social statuses depending on their race.

One day, the rat accidently bumped into a crocodile. The crocodile (not his friend) was enraged, and tried to eat the rat, but the rat’s friends came to fight.

The bully croc had his friends fight and overpowered the group of friends. While the group of friends were dying, the Dragon God and his wife the Fairy God took pity on them and told them to give him all of their yin energy.

Having no choice, the group of friends combined all of their yin energy and gave it to the Dragon God. With his payment, the Dragon God combined them into one creature.

The first magical beast was born. The crocodile was the head, the snake was the body, the rat was the whiskers and eyes, the cat was the legs, and the bird was the plumage on the back of the head. He was now known as Rong, the first magical beast.

Learning the legend of my clan, I found out that all of us were beastmen descended from Rong and a human woman. Each clan member held mixed portions of the original’s power.

I had the powers of the crocodile, snake, and bird which gave me (in order)better affinities in water, earth, and wind.

This combination would make my race of beastmen classified as a World Dragon, but because of some mutation I became some sort of variant called a Void Dragon.

Because of this, I had unnatural talent in the element void and dominated my peers.

Over the years, I travelled the continent fighting and getting stronger.

It seemed like a life that wouldn’t end.

When I was 18 years old, I met my to be wife.

She came one day bought to work as a servant. She was a slave.

She had no name, so I named her Leyla.

Being the same age, and the fact that none in my clan got close to me due to my position, we became good friends that accompanied each other outside public view.

Eventually we started to fall in love.

~Leyla’s Perspective~

I had no name.

No family.

No friends.

I was born from slave parents, who sold me to earn another piece of bread.

I was sold to many owners.

I hated it.

Every owner always tortured me, but for some reason they would eventually send me back to the Slave Merchant.

Luckily for me no one ever tried to attack me sexually.

Eventually, I was sold to the [Rong of Esemanteiv] clan.

Then I met Kai.

Then I made my first friend.

Then I learnt what happiness was.

Then fell in love.

Confessing to him one day, both of us planned to run away and elope.

However, the security of a famous clan is hard to escape the notice of.

Dai started to plan.

He researched escape routes, and where to run to.

He bribed several guards and others of higher power to assist.

He did this for the both of us.

I felt helpless, but I continued to support him.

Then, on that night, we ran.

But we were naive.

We were almost caught.

We had to hide in a wagon that started to leave.

Coincidently it went to where the slave merchant was.

I met my mother.

She was alone because my father died due to starvation and abuse.

Alone, she started to regret selling me away.

I forgave her, but I could tell she hasn’t forgiven herself.

That night, the three of us ran.

The clan pursued us up until we left the eastern kingdom.

Going west, we spent 5 years until we settled down.

Kai changed his last name to his adventurer name he got when he was in China.

Then I learned that I was pregnant.
