Every logical fact about the information I had just absorbed completely escaped me. Neither the fact that she was probably the goddess of Mykonos who was responsible for the lush jungle and the pink dolphins, nor the fact that her level was equal to mine stayed with me. Her presence and beauty was so demanding that I had a hard time even thinking of taking my eyes off of her.
She was wearing a loose and almost see-through white veil of a dress that perfectly ran over the curves of her body. As she walked onto the beach, with the waves hitting her bare feet, she was running her fingers through her long, silky hair. She stopped to pick up a seashell that had caught her attention. It was shaped like a heart and had a delicate pink color, the same shade as her lips.
Her body was illuminated through the thin cloth by the light of the setting sun. She was so beautiful it hurt, though her blue eyes promised adventures without end.
I couldn’t take my eyes off her. This level of attraction was too much to be natural. This might very well be her divine power—one that revolved around how others perceive her.
“My, a guest like you is a rarity,” she said. Her voice a sensual battering ram.
“Can I have my clothes back?” I moved toward her, trying to shake the effects of her proximity.
Immediately, her hand disappeared behind a purple line in the air as she accessed her inventory. Once her hand reappeared, she was holding a long ornate staff with a heart-shaped ruby at its top. The whole weapon was shining with a pale blue light along the length of its golden body. At least +7, likely +8, I thought.
“I didn’t say you could move,” she purred.
In less than a heartbeat, she moved her staff around and muttered a few words before I felt something take hold of my feet and restrict my movement. Roots made of pure pink light had taken a hold of me. She was a powerful caster, with a full set of B-grade equipment and wielding an enchanted staff that provided her with an even greater Magic Attack boost.
I, on the other hand, had absolutely nothing save for an almost useless spear, and nothing at all to raise my Magic Defense. No wonder her spell had landed successfully on the first attempt. I glanced at the corner of my view to where the debuff notifications appeared, and saw it there as expected.

A level 23 debuff?
That was quite high even for her level, which indicated she had a spellcaster class and one that relied heavily on debuffs. In short, I was royally fucked.
She knew the place well and I was trespassing on her dominion. And without any jewelry to boost my Magic Defense, every debuff she cast was sure to affect me on the first try. There was no way I’d be able to run away from her, so my only chance was a peaceful resolution.
“There’s no need for this… Aphrodite, is it?” I said, trying my best not to sound threatening as I let my spear fall to the ground.
My gesture only caused her to chuckle.
“You think I was feeling threatened by that stick?” she asked. “I’ve killed plenty men with far more impressive weaponry,” she said glancing down.
“I’m sorry about that,” I said, feigning remorse as I attempted to cover myself. “What’s a god like you doing here in my domain? Who sent you?”
“Nobody sent me,” I replied immediately, trying to put what I thought was likely her biggest worry to rest. “It’s a long story and I wish our first encounter was a bit more refined than the situation we are currently in. Would you mind handing me my clothes?”
“You will explain yourself now or I will consider this a hostile action against me and my domain,” the woman said, her tone having changed from playful to commanding. “I am not fooling around here.”
“Neither am I, fair lady,” I said, cranking up my charm.
Never had I met a woman, mortal or goddess, that was able to resist my smile. But then I had never been in such a disadvantageous position—naked, immobilized, and in a place I knew nothing of.
“You sincerely thought you would be able to charm your way out of this?” the woman chuckled again, though this time it was clear she had forced it. “If you don’t want to speak, then perhaps I shouldn’t be so eager to hear from you either.”
With that, she turned her back to me, her hair lifting elegantly as she did so. Then two large stones landed behind her out of nowhere. I looked up at the sky and couldn’t understand how she’d been able bring the rocks into existence out of thin air until I saw them stir.
They weren’t rocks that had fallen out of the sky, but rather two creatures made of stone that looked an awful lot like gigantic armadillos.

This species of common britur has undergone several mana-infused evolutionary steps, making it reach a height of more than eight feet and a weight upward of two thousand pounds. The Mykonian subspecies is one that was created under the influence of the goddess of Mykonos and is absolutely loyal to, and protective of, her.

Looking at the two large beasts that now unfurled and stretched their limbs in front of me, I couldn’t help but reach for my lance once again. However, trying to make a point of letting it go had worked against me, since it was now out of reach and there were still two more seconds left on my Rooted debuff timer.
I cursed my luck and watched as both briturs launched themselves against me. Right when they were about to strike, claws-first, I noticed that the goddess and lady of this whole place hadn’t walked away to leave me to my death but was instead watching me intently.
