Containment Class: Keter

Disruption Class: Ekhi

Risk Class: Critical

Additional information: All data, barring discovery log 9011.2, on SCP-9011 was found in files stored on a usb drive found during routine inspections detailed in discovery log 9011.2. See Addendum 9011.3.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-9011 is to be submerged underwater at a depth of 20 meters at all times to prevent overheating. If the water temperature within 5 meters of the surface exceeds boiling point, the water is to be cooled and, if possible, frozen. The containment unit for SCP-9011 is to be on the bottom-most floor of the site it is stored at, with piping to allow for seawater to flood the floor. In the event that all water within the containment unit evaporates, the pipes are to be opened, and the floor is to be flooded. Once the floor is at least filled with water halfway, the piping is to be closed. In the event that SCP-9011 escapes into the pipes, an emergency security lock is to be enabled, closing the blast doors within the pipes. Should this fail to contain SCP-9011, consult capture procedure 9011-2. If SCP-9011 is contained by the blast doors, capture procedure 9011-1 is to be enacted.

Description: SCP-9011 is an oceanic life form of indeterminate shape, size and weight most often resembling an electric eel, capable of changing its size and weight. The process of creating or destroying matter seems to generate tremendous amounts of heat, and the limits to what its modifications can be are not currently known. Due to this, all biological material connected to SCP-9011 is considered an instance of SCP-9011 or, if still alive, SCP-9011-X. The heat generated emanates from the center-mass of the creature, meaning it is almost impossible to detect via heat after a certain size due to the flesh of the creature insulating the source of heat. A consistent trait is the ability to create saltwater from any part of the body not submerged. Under no circumstances is SCP-9011 to be considered “neutralized”, “terminated”, or “explained”. If SCP-9011 is documented as any of these three designations and it cannot be traced to a researcher or other personnel, all personnel on all sites are to undergo an evaluation for anomalous properties, variation from human genetics, and increased desire to “flood the world”. See Addendum 9011.1. Additionally, should any unusual behavior become apparent among any creature within Armed Biological Containment Area-14, they are to be detained under maximum security until they can be proven to not be an SCP-9011-X instance or SCP-9011 in disguise

Addendum 9011.1

Preface: All documents were anomalously altered to state that SCP-9011 was classified as “terminated”, no person was traced to be the cause, and five D-class were discovered to be SCP-9011-X instances. All five instances were given rudimentary training on the operation of a one-person submarine, its hydroponics labs, and the process of calling for help in the event that they were in life-threatening danger, due to the risks of SCP-9011 biomass being released into the ocean. After ten years of being in the ocean all five were successfully recovered, and all symptoms had gotten more potent, as detailed below.

9011-1: started with the ability to generate a cup’s worth of water at the cost of extreme exhaustion. Upon retrieval was able to freely generate and destroy pure water up to ten liters without any side effects. Desire to flood the world was noticeably increased.

9011-2: started with the ability to hold their breath for one minute (thirty seconds longer than their recorded longest). Upon retrieval, 9011-2 had grown gills, and resistance to water pressure.

9011-3: started with the ability to shrink themselves up to ten millimeters shorter than prior while generating heat. Upon return was able to generate heat manually and had more fine control over size changing to be able to shrink up to one meter shorter than original height.

9011-4: started with an increased resistance to slashing and piercing weapons. Upon return was almost immune to slashing and piercing (including gunfire).

9011-5: started with the ability to reduce heat in an area within five centimeters of themselves by up to ten degrees kelvin. Upon retrieval, was able to manipulate temperature within ten meter radius of themselves by up to five hundred degrees kevin, notably able to go into the negatives (reporters note: this resulted in the object being placed into a state of immobility, unable to move or be moved by any amount of force, and becoming completely un-manipulatable in any way).

After testing, SCP-9011-1 through 5 were sent into SCP-9011’s containment cell, at which point they jumped headfirst in, with only SCP-9011-2 and SCP-9011-4 returning five minutes later, and a noticeable amount of gore and blood floating up after them. When questioned, 9011-2 stated “The parent wasn't paying attention, and 5 got angry about it, so we had to stop him from fighting. 1 dried him out like a raisin, but not before he froze 3. 1 drowned.”

All instances of SCP-9011-X were terminated after the interview.

Addendum 9011.2

Breach log, recorded on MTF [data expunged] member, [data expunged]’s personal video recorder. For coherency, MTF members will be labeled as referred to in log. Perspective camera: Delta.

Preface: SCP-9011’s containment cell had started to steam and the staff had reported that the water was moving.

[begin log]

The ground shakes, a loud creak can be heard along with the sound of concrete being crushed. A blast door is visible in front of the MTF group, with Alpha standing in front of it. Water can be seen slowly leaking from underneath the blast door as it slowly rises, the water stopping at ankle depth.

Alpha: ALRIGHT! You all know what to do! Our job is to keep 9011 in its cell, or the floor, or die trying!

Alpha turns to Beta, who is standing next to the blast door control panel.

Alpha: READY?

MTF units are seen equipping rebreathers, deep dive masks, flippers and underwater flares.

MTF: READY!

Alpha: Let us in, Beta!

Beta nods and pulls a lever on the panel, and the blast door starts rising significantly faster. The floor level on the wall designates the floor as floor 10 of Armed Biological Containment Area-14. On no recorded blueprints or scans did area 14 have more than 3 levels prior to the appearance of SCP-9011, as noted in discovery log 9011.2. There were four paths, one in each cardinal direction. Directly in front of the MTF group a blast door is present, blocking one route. All MTF personnel enter except for Beta.

Alpha: Clear the area lads, don't want anything creeping up on us. Eyes and ears open, weapons free. Close the door, Beta. Don't open it unless you hear at least five of us calling you to do so. Even one person says not to, and it stays closed.

Beta nods as Delta turns to go down the left as the blast door can be heard closing.

Delta: Sir, the water is rising.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Alpha: I can see that, Delta. Just hope it ain’t hunting.

Delta: Aye aye, sir.

As the water rises to knee height, large ripples can be seen coming from the next corner. The lights begin to flicker, then fail after approximately five seconds.

Gamma: (through radio) Lights on!

MTF: Copy that.

Headlights are turned on by the group. A low, guttural growl is heard.

Alpha: Shit. (into radio) Alright lads, it appears that 8053 got out. Beta, only let us through if five people explicitly use their radios to call for pineapples.

Beta: (through radio) Why pineapples?

Alpha: (into radio) Because it distracts me from the fact we probably aren't coming back.

The six people with Alpha move in silence to the corner, and Delta throws a flare around the corner. A piercing screech is heard as the flare burns something, and stops twelve seconds later. The water has risen to waist level as Alpha turns the corner.

A large spike (appears to be made of bone) erupts from the water and impales Alpha. Delta fires a six round burst at the base of the spike, and a fungus-covered eel floats to the top.

Gamma: (behind Delta) Oh shit, oh fuck, he’s dead!

Delta turns to the four other MTF behind them. Zeta is cowering by the wall

Delta: That he is, Gamma. (into radio) Reporting casualty, Alpha is dead. (to Gamma) Calm down! Same to you, Zeta!

Zeta nods meekly and starts to get up. The wall crashes down onto Zeta, crushing them beneath both a large amount of rubble and what appears to be a giant eel tail which rushes past. The four remaining squad members open fire on the large body.

Delta: Cease fire. (the other members seem to not notice over the gunfire) I SAID CEASE FIRE! (the group stops firing and begins reloading) Congrats, you have all survived an encounter with 9011. Most would be long gone.

The squad is entirely silent.

Control: Delta, report! Theta’s group has gone silent.

Delta: Just the four of us left, Control. Zeta and Alpha died. 8053 breached containment. 9011 confirmed to be on the move within this area.

Control: Damn. You know how to recontain and retrieve 8053, yeah?

Delta: Yes. put the sludge in a box, and burn everything else.

Control: Good. Also, Delta? Try not to die.

Delta: (rounding the corner with the remainder of the squad) That’s the plan Control. Right, you lot. We are the last ones. We have to burn anything that has any mushrooms on it, find a black sludge and put it in a box without touching it. Just another day, right?

The squad remains silent. They travel down the hall, finding a cell labeled SCP-8053 open. Inside the cell there are three SCP-8053-1-a instances, as well as SCP-8053 missing the top of its container. Delta pulls out an acrylic slab, and runs into the room. The three other members of the group fire six-round bursts at the SCP-8053-1-a instances, then throw a flare each onto one as Delta places the acrylic seal on SCP-8053’s box.

Delta: Now we just need to put this little bastard into the transfer chute, and hope we can convince 9011 that we are friends not food for long enough to get it contained.

Iota: How the hell are we meant to do that? You saw the damn thing! It’s massive! Our bullets didn't even register as a threat!

Delta: It’s simple, Iota. We blow it up with every explosive we have on hand, and hope to 343 that the seals to the outside hold out.

Omicron: Where is the chute, then?

Delta: Omicron, the chute is by the blast door we entered from. To the left, if you face it from this side. Can you put 8053 there while me, Gamma and Iota finish up with 9011? The code is [DATA EXPUNGED].

Omicron: Sure. See you on the flipside, lads.

Omicron runs back the way they came, SCP-8053 in hand.

Delta: Now we dive into hell. The drainage system panel is currently on the floor below us.

Iota: But isn’t this the bottom floor?

Delta: As far as containment and usage goes, yeah. As far as the original blueprints go? *an audible sigh* Not even close. Now come on, we got ourselves a catastrophe to stop.

Delta turns down a corridor opposite SCP-8053’s cell, which leads to a dead end without any doors on it.

Delta: Alright, time for some demolition.

Delta sets a breaching charge on the wall, then proceeds to swim through the water that has raised to neck height. As the charge detonates, another roar can be heard as the water rises to the roof.

Delta: (in-mask radio) Right. From here we talk minimally, and move as little as possible. Some things down in the deep are far better left to rest.

Delta dives into the opening, and it reveals to be a pit filled with many sealed layers, many with holes looking similar to the one Delta made. The pit goes down at least thirty more floors. Movement is seen in the water below, and the opening below them to the floor seems to be blocked by a mass of bone.

Control: Delta! We have an issue!

Delta: What is it? We are above the pit.

Control: There is a giant eel thing in the hall outside. Please, please help.

Delta: What? But isn’t 9011 supposed to be aquatic?

Control: Oh 343 its flooding. Please, do whatever you can Delta. I- I think I'm going to die. I'm activating sealing protocols up to floor three, just get rid of this thing!

Screams and crushing can be heard on the other side of the connection, and then static.

Delta: Control? Control?! FUCK! Alright lads. I guess it's down to a watery grave for us. 9011 already made it to floor 9 and killed control. We’re on our own.

Beta: (not from radio) SCP-8053 has been moved up to floor three and is being transferred to somewhere else. I suppose this is goodbye, isn't it? Was nice knowing you. Nicer to eat you, though.

Delta: What? Wait, why aren't you talking through the radio?

The video feed is obscured by the inside of a mouth full of teeth engulfing the MTF, and a spike grows from the roof of the mouth directly into the camera

[END LOG]

Researcher’s notes: after the events of discovery log 9011.2, no records of any creature of the scale shown in the video have been found.

Addendum 9011.3

Discovery logs

Log 9011.1

SCP-9011 was discovered on the [DATA EXPUNGED] floor of Armed Biological Containment Area-14, inside a containment unit the length and width of the floor above, filled to an unknown depth with high-saline content water. A document was pinned to the wall at the top of the stairs leading to the catwalks above the water, detailing that the water is to be kept as cold as possible, as well as the files for Procedure 9011.1 and Procedure 9011.2. None of the 34 D-class sent into the water returned, including those with gear supposedly able to resist temperatures up to 200 degrees celsius and 5 kilometers of water pressure. Sealant doors installed as per documentation.

Log 9011.2

Maintenance crew member Mathew Darwin was inspecting the piping systems and found a panel that ‘wasn’t on the blueprints’, and decided to pull the only lever visible because ‘the thing wasn't going to pull itself’. The wall to the north of the pipes he was inspecting lifted, revealing a staircase leading downwards. There was a usb drive taped to the wall with a note reading “9011 lies ahead. Current casualty count: 200,000+. Current containment breaches caused by 9011: 97. [DATA EXPUNGED] made inaccessible by 9011: 98. Plug the drive into a closed-circuit device, check for harmful effects. If no harmful effects are noticed, install SCP-9011 data and entries into SCP main database. If water begins rising, seal the affected floor and floor above, if any water is present on said floor.. Then (illegible scribbles)”. Mather Darwin descended the staircase, and found what appeared to be the fourth floor of Armed Biological Containment Area-14. There are only records of the construction of three floors of Armed Biological Containment Area-14. Deep penetrating scans reaching up to 35 meters (approximately 115 feet) failed to reach the bottom of the pit discovered by a diving crew, all of whom reported seeing movement below and signs of a relatively large ecosystem. The diving crew, composed of D-class, were terminated as a safety precaution.
