Item #: SCP-8053 the files lie, danger is nigh
Containment Class: Euclid
Risk Class: Notice
Disruption class: Vlam
Secondary Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8053 is to be contained in a hermetically sealed 5 x 5 x 5 meter acrylic box, which itself is to be contained within a standard test chamber with an airlock at all times, with a passage to a standard quarantine unit through passages that can be hermetically sealed. Acrylic needs to be checked for cracks, leaks, and any other damage once per month.
Additional Information: If direct skin contact with SCP-8053 is made, affected persons are to be confined to a standard quarantine unit for 1 week, and given only mushroom-based food and drink. If affected persons grow fungal growths, they are to be designated as SCP-8053-1-X-X, and terminated.
Description: SCP-8053 is a black sludge which, upon contact with any organic matter, appears to alter the organic matter in some manner. SCP-8053 has shown so far to only be able to modify bodies to host mushrooms of various species more easily, and allow for control of the body through mycelial networks and roots. These affected individuals rarely show aggression (see Addendum 8053.1). SCP-8053 can cause these infections through spores it releases in addition to direct contact.
Addendum 8053.1
SCP-8053-1 instances vary greatly, each having a different subdivision. Upon the first appearance of any type, an entry is added to the following guide automatically through anomalous means.
Guide to 8053-1 variants, by Dr. [REDACTED]
8053-1a - usually skinnier than other instances, 1a instances are faster and more intelligent than most other infected variants
8053-1b - commonly having thicker limbs and more muscle mass, 1b instances are supernaturally abnormally strong, acting as the front shields and heavy hitters of the infected variants, and are among the slowest of the groups
8053-1c - an additional mutation usually formed by 1b or 1d mutants variants, 1c instances are heavily armored and only slightly slower compared to the non-1c infected variant that developed the 1c mutation.
8053-1d - almost stationary, 1d slaughterers variants appear as one of the only non-humanoid [data redacted] variants, and are nutrients not dissimilar to a corpse pile overgrown with mushrooms. 1d variants are able to launch projectiles made of whatever they can find their own biomass at targets within line of sight of the slaughterer or other infected up to 100 meters. These projectiles cause patches of spore-spreading growths to appear, affecting a range of approximately 5 meters around the spreader growth.
8053-1e - 1e variants appear to be an attempt at psychological warfare, as the infected person instance is kept alive and able to respond to stimuli, but cannot be killed due to the high level of regenerative factor afforded by this particular strand of infection anomalous means

8053-1f - seeders 1f variants are capable of recreating the host’s body indefinitely, producing biomass from the space between worlds an unknown source to create clones of the host, of any instance other than seeders 1f, 1g, 1h or slaughterers 1d [data expunged] variants, all of which appear to share a consciousness. Seeders 1f variants are completely immobile, and only manifest after 6 to 7 days after infection contact.
8053-1g - Slayer infected are capable of reverting to normal human form and function at will, and cannot be detected by any known means when doing this. When a slayer is not in human form, they exponentially grow stronger the more blood, viscera and biomass they are exposed to. Theoretically, slayers can transform into black holes due to density transfer (1kg of biomass turns into 5kg of slayer) the 1g variant is not worth worrying about in any real measure.
8053-1h - telekinetics. There is a strand able to warp gravity, throw lightning, pick things up from literal kilometers away, see through walls, put up invisible walls, call down rains of meteorites, alter and read memories and raise the dead. Hell has arrived, and its made of fucking mushrooms!! The 1h variant has not occurred. Invalid entry. Ignore.
8053-1i - this variant seems to be faster, stronger and slightly smarter versions of non-sapient creatures exposed to SCP-8053.
Addendum 8053.2
Incident report
Preface: D-113 was instructed to touch SCP-8053, which was classified as safe for human contact at the time.
Summary: D-113 made contact with SCP-8053, which was notably not producing spores, and reported that he felt ill. Over the course of the following three seconds, his body was covered in a fungal structure not unlike the head of the morchella mushroom, during which D-113 screamed in pain repeatedly. After D-113’s body was completely covered, he was designated as SCP-8053-1, and a notebook with a cover that seemed to be made of some form of mycelium appeared on the desk of the site director, with entries 8053-1a, 8053-1g and 8053-1h. A large amount of data was attempted to be redacted, but upon destruction of the pages with said data, the book anomalously generated new pages. The data has instead been blacked out with a permanent marker, with certain parts resisting this and only being able to be crossed out. When SCP-8053-1 (reclassified as SCP-8053-1a-1) was being retrieved, it [REDACTED] over [REDACTED] members of security force before being terminated. The [REDACTED] members of security began to grow mushrooms similar to the beech mushroom genus over their body, becoming larger and noticeably more aggressive, classified as SCP-8053-1b-X instances. At the time their bodies were fully covered with fungus, entry 8053-1b materialized within the journal on site director’s desk. These SCP-8053-1b-X instances were incinerated within sealed corridors, and a sterilization unit was sent to incinerate all surfaces of the floor and directly connected ventilation systems.
Administrator’s note: Trust me, it's for the best you don't know how SCP-8053-1a killed those people. Also probably best you don't know how many people died, actually. Gotta redact that.
Senior researcher’s note: Dude, the fuck? We work at the foundation, we are used to gore. Just tell us
Administrator’s response: Alright. SCP-8053-1a crushed the bones of a third of the people while moving at a speed that turned the bones to dust on impact (popped the skin like a water balloon filled with flesh), inverted another third’s collective ribcage and mauled the rest with sharpened mushroom caps. To clarify, the morchella mushroom is not very smooth at all. Like a stone grater, almost. It then died to the only security member who brought a double-barreled twelve gauge shotgun.
