The First Kill. Chapter 6.

Steven tilts his head to the side in confusion as he recognizes the tattoo on his right hand and on the Tobi Kadachi's head. It was the first tattoo he had ever gotten back in his old world and he got it after he won his first underground fight.

RUMBLE! SNAP SNAP!

Steven looks to where the Anjanath was laying and his eyes turn wide in horror. With pieces of its body falling off from being burnt beyond recognition, the Anajanth breaks free from being under the large tree. Steven readies his weapon and looks over to his first contracted beast.

The Tobi Kadachi can hardly stand and not a single buzz of electricity radiates from the injured beast. The Tobi Kadachi looks at its new master and closes its eyes, preparing itself to fight to the death. Steven can feel that the Tobi Kadachi is preparing itself for death but he won't accept that.

'Don't worry, I'll take care of this, find somewhere to hide and be safe. Ok?' Steven asks. The Tobi Kadachi is slightly shocked and looks over at the enraged Anjanath that is still reeling from its injuries and then back to its master.

The Tobi Kadachi instantly feels a sense of safety and security when looking at its master.

The blue beast that is usually brimming with electricity and the willingness to fight suddenly bows its head to Steven and prostrates before him. Getting up from its bow, it limps further into the dense forest until it can no longer be seen by normal means but it's not the same for Steven.

He can't see his contracted monster but he can feel its presence. Like the two are soul bound.

Turning back towards the Anjanath, it seems that the dark pink tinted beast has recovered the most it possibly can and is looking for something to take its revenge on. Seeing Steven, its eyes glint with anger and the beast has a very deadly aura yet Steven does not waver.

Putting back on his right gauntlet, Steven also pulls his sword out of his shield. With a slash of his sword towards the Anjanath and a raise of his shield, Steven shows he is ready for whatever the Anjanath throws at him.

Taking this as a taunt, the Anjanath snorts at Steven and its nostril fringes once again show themselves, showing the Anjanath's rage.

Plumes of smoke slowly seep out of the Anjanath's mouth and traces of fire spark in the deepest depths of its throat.

Steven takes the initiative to attack before the Anjanath can charge that horrifying laser again. Ducking low and putting his shield in between himself and certain death, Steven runs to the left of the Anjanath at high speeds.

The Anjanath is surprised by Steven's speed and is taken aback. It has never seen a human move at these speeds and before the Anjanath can fully charge the laser, Steven is out of the Anjanath's field of view as its eye cannot track his speed.

This Anjanath is smart though and thinks about the direction at which Steven ran and quickly turns the upper half of its large body 60 degrees to the left and fires the laser beam like fire.

The monster was correct in its guess as to where Steven might be but Steven raised his shield up and braced himself, flexing all of his muscles and planting his feet firmly into the ground.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

WHOOOOOSSSHHHH!

Flames rush past Steven's head and his body. The power of the laser beam hit his shield and died out but the flames that didn't hit the shield or Steven rushed past his body.

The heat of the fire would normally burn someone but Steven's clothes and cloak kept him well protected.

With the laser beam finally dying out and the ground around him charred black, Steven continues his rush but this time rushes directly at the Anjanath. The Pink beast is charging another laser but Steven makes it to the beasts legs before it got off another shot.

Steven draws back his sword swings at the right leg of the beast. A feeling rushes through Steven's right arm as his sword hits a beast for the first time. He had expected the sword to cleanly cut through the Anjanath's skin but his arm becomes numb as Steven's sword bounces backwards.

Hitting the Anjanath was like hitting metal and it stunned Steven for a second as he barely made a scratch.

Steven quickly recovers and strikes again, this time he holds the strike and lets strength build up in the sword. Holding the strike back for a second, a bright red light embraces Steven's grey sword and shines brilliantly. Finally releasing the strike, a crimson red light follows Steven's blade as he slices directly for the Anjanath's right leg.

Striking the Anjanath's tough hide, Steven grits his teeth as the resistance of the Anjanath's skin is more than what his blunt blade can handle with a normal human's strength, but Steven isn't normal.

With his blade nearly bouncing off the Anjanath's flesh, another burst of strength and power comes from Steven into the blade and the red light burns brighter. This time, the blade cleanly pierces the Anjanath's skin.

Steven twists the blade once his overhead strike nearly hits the ground below him and he slices upwards at the same spot and cuts deeper into the Anjanath.

This all happens within three seconds but those three seconds where a devastating few to the Anjanath. With it already being injured already by its earlier fights, the amount of pain coming from the new wound is overwhelming to the Anjanath.

The strength of Steven's second and third strike had not only cut through the Anjanath's thick hide, but it also cut to the bone and nearly cut the Anjanath's bone in half.

The red light that streaked as the charge blade cut through the air was a mysterious power in this world that insured that a hunter would do more damage with their strike. It is called a 'Crit' in this world.

With Steven criting the injured monster, the Anjanath stops the nearly charged laser and falls over to its side, moaning and grunting in pain.

Steven quickly runs to the Anjanath's head and jumps into the air. With his sword drawn upwards, gravity takes Steven down and he stabs directly at the throat of the beast.

The Anjanath might be injured but that is what makes it scarier, it is like an animal backed into a corner and will do everything to fight for its life. As Steven almost rains down upon the Anjanath and takes its life like the Grim Reaper, the Anjanath faces towards Steven and blows the fire that has built up inside of its throat.

With the weak plume of fire being blown at him, Steven reacts calmly and begins to spin in the air with his blade outwards, making a small whirlwind that cleanly cuts through the Anjanath's desperate attack.

Continuing the spin, the red light from before once again streaks with Steven's blade, making him a crimson spinning cyclone of death in the beast's eyes.

Before the Anjanath can roar in resistance, Steven feels a warm liquid rush all over his body and his blade cut through the Anjanath's throat. Steven continues through the Anjanath's throat and appears on the other side.

The massive head of the pink beast slowly slides off its shoulders and onto the ground. Steven is breathing several deep breaths as he had put a lot of force into his blade for the few attacks he did. If that Anjanath wasn't injured and tired already, Steven most likely would have had a quick yet horrible death.

The man finally slows his breathing and the feeling of emptiness fills his body as his adrenaline dies out.

Looking back at the bloody mess that is now the Anjanath, Steven sighs and he reaches into his pouch and pulls out a dagger.

"Well, might as well and carve whatever is not damaged. Maybe I can make some actual armor." Steven says while thinking aloud.

Now begins the tedious process of carving a monster's most valuable parts after claiming victory.
