CHAPTER 96
Standing at the doorway, it took a few seconds for Rosie to grasp the situation. As realizatio dawned,
she hurried forward, draping a jacket over Natalie’s shoulders, her voice shaking “Who did this to you?
How did this happen?!”
Just moments ago, Rosie had been outside.
She hadn’t heard anything, so likely no one else had either, righ
Natalie was struggling to keep her vision from darkening, and seeing Rosie cry at the sight of her made
her reach out to gently touch Rosie’s face, saying, “It’s okay, you don’t need to worry…”
After helping Natalie into her clothes, Rosie supported her out of the building. At the entrance. Reid
glanced at Natalie.
The entire floor was eerily quiet, with only Reid and another bodyguard present – no one elbe
Reid’s gaze lingered on the wound on Natalie’s calf exposed to the air. He paused, then offered softly.
“Let me take you back to the hotel, Miss Wright.”
“No need,” Natalie replied coldly and quietly.
A slap followed by a sweet treat – such games are for children.
When Rosie helped Natalie into the back seat of the car, Natalie stumbled, nearly collapsing.
Upstairs, Brian watched Natalie’s miserable state, her stubbornness to stay strong apparent.
“Maybe we should drop her off at Prestige Penthouses?” Reid suggested hesitantly, genuinely
concerned.
But Brian remained silent for a long time, his gaze dark and fixed on Rosie’s car driving away.
Reid didn’t dare to push further and simply shut up.
No one could have predicted Brian’s harsh treatment of Natalie. Reid had thought that even if she
turned the world upside down, Brian would never bear to punish her.
Even after Natalie had effectively abandoned their son, Nate, Reid had never seen Brian this furious.
“Find out who hit her today,” Brian suddenly commanded after a long silence.
“When Mr. Miller came in earlier, he said it was Sofia,” Reid replied, steeling himself.
“Sofia? Who is that?” Brian frowned in irritation.
Reid hesitated, then deliberately mentioned Madelyn, “She’s… Ms. Harris‘ closest friend at Global
Entertainment Group.”
Brian shifted his gaze slightly, looking through the balcony’s floor–to–ceiling windows at Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Madelyn, who was joking with everyone.
Who would actually believe it if Madelyn wasn’t involved?
Some obscure actress could humiliate Natalie by clinging to his coattails. Perhaps he had been too
lenient with Madelyn all along.
Madelyn happened to look up and meet Brian’s eyes, offering him a tender smile.
Brian stared back at her, his lips parting slightly, “Remember how Madelyn was put on ice back in the
day?”
“Yes, I remember,” Reid responded promptly.
“Blacklist Sofia. Now.”
Sitting in the back seat of the car, Natalie rested her head against the window. Rosie, concerned,
glanced at her through the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but ask softly, “Are you alright? Should I
stop by a pharmacy and get you some painkillers?”
Natalie stared blankly out the car window, then after a moment, asked softly, “What time does Sofia’s
trending topic go live tonight?”
Rosie paused, then answered, “I think it’s scheduled for eleven o’clock. That’s when online traffic
peaks.”
Natalie closed her eyes briefly, then instructed, “Tell Gavin to make it big. I want her ruined.”
She refused to believe Brian’s visit that afternoon had nothing to do with Sofia. She was set on making
an example out of her to warn Madelyn.
In the middle of the night, Natalie’s lower abdomen started cramping painfully, pulling her out of
her dreams.
“What’s wrong?!” Rosie, hearing the commotion, immediately turned on the light and rushed in.
Rosie was worried about Natalie’s mental state, so she decided to sleep on the couch outside that
night.
