CHAPTER 115
[Can you dig into Brian’s chats with Galactix Space Tech? Check if he’s the one who ordered the hit on
King.] Natalie said.
OldMate was taken aback. [What?! Brian put a hit out on King?!]
[I’m not sure if it was Brian’s call, just playing a hunch. Since they’re all suspicious of me, I can’t make
any moves on Brian right now. It’s gotta be you.]
[And if it turns out Brian really did it, what then?) OldMate probed.
[Haven’t thought that far. But remember, don’t breathe a word of this to anyone until we have solid
evidence.]
[Alright.] OldMate sighed. [I’ll see what I can do. They just pinged me on DealDynamics. Gotta go.]
With OldMate having gone offline, Natalie shut her laptop, a heavy weight settling in her heart.
She needed to get to the bottom of this before King did to brace herself for what might come.
But OldMate’s question haunted her. If it was Brian, what would she do? Her mind was a mess,
brimming with thoughts but no clear starting point…
Opening a video call, Natalie caught up with Uriah on King’s condition and the latest organization buzz.
“The flash drive is with me. They can meet any time,” she told Uriah.
Uriah noticed Natalie’s distraction. “You’ve been fighting with King lately?” he asked gently.
Natalie paused.
“He’s been down, kinda broody these past few days. Maybe you should reach out to him. directly.”
It was because of King’s recent question about marriage that Natalie, had been avoiding him. She
hadn’t decided yet, so she kept her distance.
“Maybe he’s just not fully recovered yet,” she replied softly.
Her feelings for King had always been familial, never romantic. The thought of them as a couple was
foreign to her.
She figured it was best to wait until she had clarity before speaking with him again. That was only fair to
both of them.
After wrapping up with Uriah, Natalie idly launched a game and played a few rounds. Her phone
pinged. It was a message from Rosie.
Opening it, she found a transcript of a company group chat. Natalie wasn’t in the group, so Rosie had
forwarded the conversation.
12-00
“Hot gossip! Madelyn’s chocolate endorsement was axed by the CEO! She had the contract all signed.
I saw her storm out of his office this morning, fuming!”
“Must be because of Sofia’s scandal, right? Their close ties probably rubbed off on her. Madelyn’s holds © this.
better off keeping a low profile for now.”
“But seriously, there’s been some tension between Mr. Howard and our company, right? When’s the
last time he showed up? Maybe trouble in paradise with Madelyn?”
“Don’t start rumors. Isn’t that kid Madelyn’s? Once you have a child with someone, you’re bound for
life!”
Natalie skimmed through the chat and was about to log off when Rosie messaged again, [All caught
up?]
[Yeah.] Natalie replied, sending a smiley face.
[Gavin is on fire, huh?] Rosie sent back a killing emoji.
Natalie was indeed pleased with Sofia’s downfall and Gavin’s apparent vendetta against Madelyn.
Gavin had stepped up this time.
