CHAPTER 124
Samuel furrowed his brow in frustration and spat out, “Pick a couple of things to either return to the
store or pawn off! I need three million in a hurry, and I need it now!”
“What the hell are you talking about? How can we sell the gifts Brian gave to Gracia? Are you out of
your mind? You can’t just sell her present!” Lydia fired back, not even contemplating the thought.
Samuel banged his hand on the table, “You’re the ones who are crazy if you think we can just sit back
and wait for bankruptcy to come knocking! Our company had been promoting a hit web series that’s
just started production, but due to a tax evasion scandal, all the sponsors have pulled out! Nobody
dares associate with the Wright Group anymore! We’re short three million in funding. If we can’t cover
that, all the nearly ten million dollars we’ve already spent. on advertising and trending searches will go
down the drain! It’s either we get out of this mess now or end up without even a fifty–square–foot
apartment to live in later. Think about it!”
Gracia had always been busy with filming and advertisements, never bothering with the company’s
affairs. His words were a wake–up call to the gravity of the situation.
She thought they just needed to pay back the missing millions in taxes, but who knew things would get
this complicated?
If the company went under, where would that leave her reputation?
After exchanging worried glances with Lydia, Gracia finally murmured, furrowing her brows. “Well,
there’s this limited edition brooch set Davis gave me. I probably won’t wear it anytime soon… It’s still
returnable since I only got it two months ago.
That brooch set was a global rarity, sought after by many but owned by few. It was harder to get than
winning the lottery, let alone an entire set of eighteen pieces.
Davis gave it to Gracia as an investment piece, something that would be appreciated over time. Lydia
agonized for a long time before lamenting, “Can’t we sell something else?”
“This set is the least expensive thing the Howard family has given me. Should I sell the limited edition
watches or the top–grade loose diamonds that Brian gave me instead?” Gracia sighed. asking

Selling anything was humiliating enough. There were plenty of people just waiting to laugh at the
Wright family’s downfall. Natalie was waiting to see them destitute, begging at her feet! Gracia would
never let that happen.
After a good deal of pondering, Lydia ascended the stairs. Despite a thorough search, she couldn’t find
anything of lesser value or sentimentality to let go of.
“Return it now! Don’t do anything else today until you’ve got the money,” Samuel ordered sternly before
leaving the house.
As Lydia delayed, dreading the task ahead, she headed to the garage. Looking at the two Audi cars
parked inside, she frowned. “Natalie smashed our Ferrari, and now we don’t even have a decent car to
drive.”
The people they associated with would scoff at the idea of driving an Audi A8, not even worth a million,
let alone suitable for a grocery run.
Gracia felt just as choked up. Their only option now was to try and get something from Davis.
Otherwise, by the time Matthew remembered them, it could be too late.
At Global Mall.
Natalie had arranged to meet Rosie for a shopping spree, looking for an outfit to wear to the James
family’s dinner party that evening.
After sharing lunch together, they roamed the mall leisurely.
Rosie, noticing Natalie’s preference for luxury stores, offered curiously, “If you need an outfit for an
event, I can help you borrow from designer showrooms. They’ve got a better selection and sizes.”
“It’s too late for that. It’s tonight,” Natalie replied with a smile.
“Is it… a family dinner or a gathering with friends?” Rosie’s curiosity intensified.
