CHAPTER 114
“Who the heck are you? Her boyfriend or something?” OldMate grumbled and eyed Reid with a mix of
curiosity and annoyance.
“Just the driver and bodyguard. Got a problem with that?” Reid cocked an eyebrow, his tone edged with
a warning. If it weren’t for the fact that this greasy and scrawny dude was part of the FireWing. Reid
would have already knocked the stuffing out of him.
“It’s cool, no worries,” Natalie intervened at the sight of Reid’s displeasure. She took the blanket from
OldMate with a suppressed chuckle. “Thanks a bunch, really. Sorry for the trouble.”
With that, she shut the door.
Glancing down at the blanket in her hands, she fished out a flash drive shaped like a gingerbread man Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
and casually tossed the blanket onto the nearby couch.
This was perfect. Pretending to come back for the blanket enabled a reason to knock on her door
again, potentially throwing Brian and his cronies off the scent.
Just as she curled her fingers around the flash drive, preparing to head back to her room, she looked
up to find Nate standing barefoot in the doorway.
Natalie jumped, but recovered quickly. It was just a three–year–old kid, after all. Even if he’d seen her
with the flash drive, he probably had no clue what it was, especially since it looked like a toy keychain.
Sliding the flash drive up her sleeve, Natalie walked over to Nate and scooped him up, asking softly.
“Why are you up, buddy?”
“My alarm went off.” Nate said, pouting as he pointed to his smartwatch. “Can’t be late.”
Nate had already dressed himself, a proud smile on his face as he awaited Natalie’s praise.
Natalie couldn’t resist a small chuckle noticing his shirt put on backward. Briefly rubbing her temples,
she scooped him up and ushered him back to the bed.
“I’m going to chess club today. Are you coming with me?” Nate stood obediently as Natalie fixed his
clothes, his voice hopeful.
“Nah, I’ll sit this one out,” Natalie replied with a smile. The less she had to do with the Howard family,
the better.
“Okay…” Nate hung his little face down. He didn’t ask about the flash drive, much to Natalie’s relief.
She took him to the bathroom to get washed up.
But letting Nate stay here wasn’t a long–term solution for Natalie.
His presence made it difficult for her to do what she needed to.
Ten minutes later, Natalie had Reid take Nate off to the chess club. Finally, the little roadblock
was gone.

Watching Reid leave, she closed the door behind him and immediately went back to her room to boot
up her computer.
OldMate asked. [So how did I do? Wasn’t my act just brilliant? Give me your feedback.]
Natalie replied. [Spectacularly nauseating. You’re meeting with Brian soon?]
[Yep, it should be in the next couple of days at his office. He wants to watch me work in person.]
[Brian is cautious. He’ll have tech gurus watching you like hawks. Be careful, but you’ve always been
good at imitation. I’m not worried about you slipping up.]
[Got it!]
[There’s one more thing I need from you. When you’re at Brian’s office, if you get a chance to access
his computer, I need you to look something up for me.]
[What’s up? Lay it on me.]
[But remember, this stays between us. Not a word to anyone else, not even King.]
My lips are sealed. I got into Truth Group because you vouched for me, remember? You’re my good
luck!]
