Ben lifted me off the bed and escorted me out to where Goes stood. Shared memories with me so I’d know what happened, and one of my clones gave my Rules.
Goes raised his arms. “Now I shall let Pas, Master Healer Of Yeff, teach us how to help these frightened ones!”
Pas waved me beside them. “Here is Molly, Queen Of Rainbow. She will speak to the slaves and tell them two rules. What are they, Molly, that all might repeat your words?”
I waved on a cobalt blue dress and my healers’ robes with Tessite symbols in two lines down the front where the edges of my white robe came together with two strips of blue for the symbols to hang on. Ben’s family color. I bowed, a graceful Zheien bow with one leg far behind. My red ringlets jiggled at the edges of my vision. “I have two rules, and you are all citizens of Rainbow for my purpose tonight, so remember, you have to follow ‘em, too. Rule Number One is, Rest when you’re tired. Tired hands might not be as gentle, and if you’re rubbing ea fae on a Zheien, you have to be very gentle. So, what’s Rule Number One?”
Everyone repeated it, though Zheien said ‘Rest when weary’, and only the Earthans said, Rest when you’re tired.’
“Good! Now, Rule Number Two is, ‘See your healer if you don’t feel good.’ So, what’s my second rule?”
Some said it like that, but Zheien said, ‘See a healer if unwell.’ I smiled.
“That’s it, so all of you, follow it, too. These returned slaves need to see you following them. Now Pas’ll teach you all how to be healer helpers. Rainbow needs lots of you!” I bowed again to Pas, who returned it.
Pirad had a surprise for me. Siadiasly. She's a clone of me in a Zbbat body with Ty'nirrhan traits. Siasch, Taredias, and Greg worked with Pirad to create her. She has all of their skills! Zbbat have six arms like a hydra, but six legs, too, and neon yellow. One is as wide as six men standing in a circle holding hands, and as tall as two, one standing on the other’s head! Skin like the prickly side of Velcro, but it sticks to anything. Siadiasly also has Siasch in her, that friendly Elshar trader who helped Taredias start Samar Thaae and move it to Alb. Her Ty’nirrhan portion shows in colors and smells at her tentacle ends when she fabs herbs for healing.
Siadiasly kept out of sight, but one tentacle stayed in my right hand. I directed her to see people while she projected an image of me. I could use my abilities through her on five slaves at a time! Ben helped me touch other healers’ minds to help dying people. A lot of Zheien were dying of fear alone. Changing slavers is enough fear to kill them.
One shivering Zheien caught my eye. He hugged his mother and father in a group of Zheien.
A fella in black robes ran at me. I zapped him. He fell. “Do you guards believe me? I will make changes. First, here is gentle cleaning.” I ran a hygiene prog Be~saech wrote for slaver ships. Soft white light glowed, and left people in very soft Zheien white gowns with socks past knees. People startled and felt the cloth. Kept frightened eyes on me. That guard sat up and kept black eyes on me.
Another wave, and every person held a white blanket, including him. He clung to it. A third wave, and a platter appeared with a small amount of food. Zheien got one bahef, a nourishing pastry. Elshars got three amta, a round, golf-ball size bread, in three diff flavors.
We had two green-skinned Esteerrians. they got full platters of arrha, a ceremonial fruit they all love. They eat with their hand-mouths.
Our one six-limbed Zbbat got a similar meal, which he threw in the top of him. Herdyyyath. He became an excellent healer and married Siadiasly! She ran to him and taught him healing.
Six Bisillips huddled together. Their blankets cooled them, and they got beverages. Every species got something good for him, and small amounts because starved people can't eat much at first. They die if they eat too much at a time for a few days. This prog would feed them every two hours. Most of them waited to eat, staring at me. One was Hinsin. Another, Habir. They helped us a lot in Rainbow! Pirad sent a clone of himself to Goe’s ship. He went to all of ‘em, and he knows ‘em. Recruited them for Rainbow. They’ll live on Alb Seer with them in Kirnonos’ Lab underground. They left for his lab. He’ll reclone ‘em.
Brit, Healer Of Elshar Mashai and Sunasch, Healer Of Elshar Mashai were there with Ginnyish. Sunasch was that healer at Marietta High who taught me my first day. Brit was Ginny’s healer when the Pedersens adopted her. Mark and Toni startled and ran over there! My clone’s already there with Sunasch.
With them were Tonan, the Thordes healer my group got after Si and Rur, and Anda, a young Ishah good with terminal removals! I’d be recruiting them all for whichever Rainbow Colony they chose. There’s an Ishah prov called Leiea and one called Moro on Elshar Zheiea.
Fubret’s father Mindas ran to him. The purple people had a group there. That’s where Brit and crew already sat. I asked Mindas if he’d consider living in a Thordes colony on MarKu, and he agreed. I showed him their future with Fubret as governor. He’ll talk to Fubret, but he and his wife agreed on the spot!
So did Los Fa’s father, Jal Fa Sai, who waved up flowers for ‘em. They still watched me with frightened eyes. We ported living flowers for the V’chsan group. Ket’s clone went to heal all of them. There were several Xchou healers, but few had the rich fire-engine color they should have. All of their group moved by Fubret’s group.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Sunasch, Brit and Si led Venn, Ches and Sees over by them. And Oahsah, their old tutor—he’s here? Doesn’t look old! One of the MarKuan diplomats from Adia’s Ship. Oahsah went with them, to sit by ‘em in case anyone woke up scared. He was my governor when MarKu barely had enough people for a subcolony in my old Rainbow. Goe just appointed him Governor of Rainbow MarKu and Earth MarKu, and made several Thordes subcolonies, and a V’chsan subcolony for anyone who didn’t want to move back there. It’s in Alb, too and has a Rainbow Colony! Los Fa wanted to be near Fubret. Venn’s family was eager to go home to Ea~, which is as close to MarKu as Mars to Earth. It also has a Rainbow. They’re not in awful shape like they were when I knew them in Rainbow.
Rur found Nufera, my miracle walking pharmacy. Pirad went to her. Flash! Now she went from slave to slave with healers. I waved white robes on her. Herbalries don’t have to know telepathic healing as long as they know herbs and how to heal with ‘em. She can make herbs in her hand.
“I am Queen Molly, and I am a healer. All of you are safe with me. You may eat now.” I watched as they wolfed down all the food. “I know Zheien healing. I demand that no one hits or yells.” I spoke in Elshar, the common language of Alliance trading, Elshar slavers, and mines like the one they just came from. Belle and Deb stared at me!
Healers went to anyone who looked sick. I saw more people I knew. A flood of my clones went to everyone. Love having so many clones! It’s freaking my friends, though!
I waited. The young Zheien in front of me, not much older than me, shivered. I sat in front of him. Held out my hands. In Zheien, I said, “My son, may I touch you?”
He nodded. First, I stroked his red curls. “You are Jog Sa, Server Instructor Of MarKu. Would you like to go home?”
Tears in his brown eyes. “I am a slave.”
“I can free you and your parents. Do you want to go home?”
A whisper. “Eae.”
“Let me heal you, and your parents, and we are on a ship to Alb. Would you like Goe to hold you while I heal you?”
He gasped. Cried.
Goe came running with Ester, an Earthan who married Loperan, a MarKuan diplomat. She was a talented healer in Rainbow. “Jog, I am here!”
Loperan came with ‘em. His family went to others.
Tom and Megan came with Basa. All the Zheien raised their arms and waved! I got teary. But I saw all his points. He hasn't been mining, thank goodness! I did see some evidence of slaver herbs. Oh, I shook with anger! Not now. Then I sang healing and he slept. Tom held him, Meg held his mea, and Brian held his fa.
“Will he work?” Goe's voice shook. He knows what slaves go through.
“Yes, he will! I'll give him vek ea. You know what it does, right?”
He nodded. “Pie grows him.” And, Ye~ just sent them live plants.
I gave it, then looked at his father. Again, not much damage. Slavery is bad enough, but no major injuries. His mother was worse, because Zheien women are so fragile. I sang her to sleep first. No Zheien will sleep until he knows his family is all right. Then, I sang for him. Gave them all vek ea. Healers carried them to a room here on Goe's ship made to look like Jog Sa’s family’s house. Goe carried Jog Sa himself. Put them all on Jog’s bed. They’ll all get yllis when vek ea does its work. Goe is here with Penny and his clone that married Shannon will stay on Adia’s until they get Earth’s treaty signings.
All of us healers went around healing folks. Pas listened to me through his links, and I felt his awe. He got tired early and had to nap. I kept going. His younger members of his ennead couldn't keep up with me! They had Pirad's recloning and similar mods. Yet, I had more capacity than master healers?
Most of Ye~ is Master Healers because Yeff have a lot of genetic problems. Only 422 kids of 2500 Yeff. So unfair! MarKu was half children! However, since Pirad fixed all that, a lot of couples are expecting on Ye~ already.
We went through slaves like water! Siadiasly hid herself and gave me energy. But, master healers like Pie, Master Healer Of All MarKu, kept coming to me and pulling me to dying people they couldn't heal! His new wife, Adelle, had white robes already. I felt honored, but dreaded when I couldn't save one. Didn't happen.
At first, they were holos, so yeah, remote healing takes a lot of energy, but soon their physical ship merged with ours and they were here. That happened in 15 minutes? But it took ‘em a couple of hours to get here from Saturn.
Went back to Jog Sa's family, and another healer gave them yllis, a rare herb that heals. I checked them. No need to augment any of them. Ker Sa and Jog Sa are to MarKu like Be~saech and his father Ge~saech. Programmers so skilled, no one can do what they do. One of Goe's clones chose to do programming, and he's like them, too. His mom’s a talented musician.
There were 525 slaves on Goe’s Ship now. It wasn't even half full. I personally healed 359. But, then, they brought people from stasis. Mia was here and insisted I go with Ben and sleep. Her healers asked all of ‘em where they wanted to go, and 449 want to live in one of my Rainbow satellites, but they’ll go to the Alb world closest to their home or where a relative lives. No one will live in a Rainbow permanently.
All the worlds have Thordes and Elshar and a few other kinds of colonies. Some, like Fubret and his dad and Los Fa and his dad, could go home, but they chose to help me in my government. Jal Fa Sai is on Ry’nao’s staff and lives on V’chsan, but he decided to move his house to V’chsan MarKu. I’m hoping to find his other missing sons and daughters, as I did in that other future. I showed him where we found ‘em, or their bodies.
I took one last look at my people, my rainbows. “All of you look tired. You may sleep. You will have new work tomorrow.” Most of 'em wouldn't sleep until I said that, then all of 'em laid down.
Pas woke up and checked me. “Father of All blessed us! How many did you heal?”
I waved up my total. It wasn't just 359. It was 459! Pas startled and saw me again!
I listened to his mind as he did, and he startled. “Molly, I trained many healers, but ne one like you. You listen as you were me, yet you ne enter my Inner Circle.”
“I wouldn't do that unless you were dying, Master.” I bowed.
