Wind Of Change (2)

Wind Of Change (2)

The registration was supposed to be finished yesterday, so how come I don’t see Jared’s stupid face anywhere?

That guy really wanted to come to the academy and was obsessed, so I doubt he’ll stay put the instant he gets here.

I ran my eyes through all the registrants for this year and all of a sudden, I felt my blood boil as I stared at a familiar name written on the list.

“So Jared has been replaced by this guy, huh?”

In that split second, my anger went through the roof, and the next thing I know. I was already standing in the dorm of the new applicants.

Should I head inside or not? It is not prohibited for seniors to go to the first years’ dormitory. In fact, it is a normal thing as the students would want to meet someone they know from their city or town.

However, my plans for the visit are the actual opposite. I want to meet this guy and give him a piece of my mind for all those years. All those years when my father neglected me just for the sake of looking for him. That alone is enough for me to claim his life as payment.

“Calm down, Ashe,” I told myself, probing to know on the door.

All of a sudden, someone called out to me.

“Ashe? What are you doing here? It’s so unlike you to visit the first years’ dormitory,”

I turned around and saw Misha holding a basket full of fruit. Misha is also a second year in the academy, and most likely wants to meet someone from back home.

“I have business with someone here,”

As if to ridicule me, her eyes slanted like a cat’s and the corner of her lips arched.

“Heh~ Is the Ice Princess finally falling in love?”

‘Falling in love’ my foot. If anything, I want to murder the person I’m about to meet. It's the total opposite.

“Well, let’s just say I’m here to finally meet someone.”

“Heh~ you don’t say..”

I really hate this. The look she’s giving is really irritating.

The guard opened the door the moment he saw us. The moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere felt so solemn, as if they were observing one another. It is highly unlikely for first years to act like this right after they have just entered the academy. Although most of them are observing everyone else, there are some who are grinning as if looking at something funny. I turned towards the direction of their gaze and found someone wearing a blindfold.

I wanted to laugh, that ‘s my first impression. I can’t judge them for how they reacted but considering how stupid it is, unless his vision is truly impaired, wearing one screams stupidity for me.

“Who let that phony here in the academy,” I can’t help but blurt out my thoughts.

“Come on, you don’t even know the guy yet, maybe he is the one you’re looking for~” she gave me that annoying look on her face.

She’s teasing me. This girl is really pushing her luck.

‘How about I knock the living daylights out of you?’

Is what I want to say but I swallowed my words. Just then, Misha along with everyone else had a surprised look on their faces. I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings thanks to Ashe’s neverending teasing, but when I came to, the person who was wearing a blindfold was already in front of me.

That fact alone surprised me that I managed to take a step back out of surprise.

How did he manage to..?

That’s not what I should focus on right now. Why has he come to me?

“What’s your business with me?” I asked, hurriedly.

Just then, he turned his head as if trying to get a sense of my question or something.

“The aura emanating from you is oddly similar to my senior. Are you perhaps, Miss Ashe?”

As soon as he finished speaking, I could feel my blood boil. Misha was joking when she said he might be the person I was looking for. And to think fate would be so cruel as to turn that into reality, it isn’t funny at all.

The voice in my head tells me that I should just rush at him and give him a piece of my mind after all those years that my own father neglected me. However, there’s a part of me that’s telling me to stop making rash decisions. If he really is strong as my father claimed him to be, then that’s all the more reason to stop here for now.

“You must be that fool’s substitute, he must have done something stupid to have been replaced,” I played it cool.

“I cannot answer that, though I am certain that he may have received some kind of punishment from his family,”

That’s news to me. No matter how spoiled and arrogant Jared has acted in the past, his family wouldn’t even punish him let alone lay a hand on him. And now they punished him? That’s new. Something must have changed back home.

“That’s news to me. However, I don’t want to talk about that,” I immediately wanted to drop the topic, “Answer me, why have you come to the academy? Why did my father allow this?”

I thought it would take time for him to give me an answer, unfortunately, I was wrong as he immediately gave me the answer without a second to spare.

“My senior just granted me my wish, and that is to see what the world has become, that is all,” he answered,

Granted him his wish, you say?

“Is that so?”

I’ve finished what I came to do. No matter what the problem is, I can’t just beat the crap out of him as I wished. There will be a lot of opportunities in the future.

I turned around having concluded my business and walked away.

“Just to be clear, you can’t call out to me and expect me to come. We are not that close. In this academy, you are on your own, so don’t expect help coming from me,” I told him as I continue to walk away, “And take off that blindfold, you look ridiculous,”

I did not hear any response as I walked out of the first year’s dorm. He must have understood that his reply wouldn’t be necessary.

And so, that wraps up my meeting with the person I wanted to meet the most. Although I wasn’t able to gauge how strong he is, I was able to confirm that he is indeed quite dangerous.

I looked at my hands and realized it was sweaty.

“I only tried to release my strength to intimidate him a little, but to think I would be intimidated instead,” I clenched my fist, “I guess my father wasn’t lying. Back there, it isn’t like I was staring at a man but a monster who finally got out into the world,”

As I thought about the little interaction we had, I came to a conclusion, I need to get a lot stronger than I already am if I want to beat the hell out of that man. Even though it pains me to admit this, he is way out of my league at all.

Just then, a question comes to mind while thinking about all these.

“If he is that intimidating and strong, why join the academy?”

As I thought through the possible answers, I shook my head. And in the end, I gave up.

“Whatever the answer may be, it doesnt change the fact of what I need to do,”

I steeled my resolve. He is someone I must fight one day. Pondering his reason for coming to the academy is pointless. In the end, we will surely cross words and beating him is all that matters.

That late in the afternoon until late at night, I went straight to the training grounds and trained like crazy.
